He's certainly perfected some very unique techniques. Playing the bass notes using left hand pizzicato was insane. I don't know if we can compare him to the great violin soloists of today like Hilary Hahn and Maxim Vengerov. He is more of a virtuoso and a composer.

Like Paganini, Roman is clearly ahead of his time. His genius affords him this luxury of course, but what is equally compelling is the degree to which he is able to execute his mind-bending renditions with such abandon. It seems almost natural for him to play the violin in this ground-breaking and nearly unfathomable manner. Even this generation will need some time to reconcile with this and many other achievements of his, but he won’t be chastised for his diabolical innovations and virtuousity as was Paganini.

      @sunnaum 5 ปีที่แล้ว +125

violin is a group instrument, it's not like a guitar that you can basically be a band of one person. Most violin pieces are composed for a bunch of people, either he composes his own string quartets for solo violin or he'll always be that lone guy who plays alone. This reduces his reach by a lot not only in the general public cause less people share what he's doing cause less people are involved in it, but also with musicians, most musicians will be impressed but like how am I going to fit this into my orchestra? am I going to cut four people to fit this guy? Does he even want to be in an orchestra? I think he's trying really hard to be XXI century paganini and he has the skills but he has to compose cool stuff. What made all the great from the past is that they composed, it didn't matter how good they were with any instrument.

Roman Kim’s rendition of “Eine kleine Nachtmusik
As I immerse myself in the ethereal strains of Roman Kim’s violin, I find myself transported to a realm where time stands still, and music becomes the very fabric of existence. His performance of W.A. Mozart’s “Eine kleine Nachtmusik” is nothing short of a celestial conversation-a dialogue between the mortal and the divine.
    1. The Prelude: A Whispersome Invitation The opening notes tiptoe into my consciousness, delicate as dew-kissed petals. Roman Kim’s bow caresses the strings, coaxing forth a melody that flutters like a nocturnal butterfly. The violin sings, and I listen-a willing captive to its allure. The night beckons, and I follow, my heart aflutter with anticipation.
    2. Moonlit Reverie: Allegro As the tempo quickens, so does my pulse. Roman Kim’s fingers dance across the fingerboard, each note a starburst of brilliance. The violin becomes a storyteller, weaving tales of moonlit escapades, secret rendezvous, and stolen kisses. I close my eyes, and suddenly, I am twirling in a moonlit garden, my laughter echoing through the night.
    3. Serenade for the Soul: Roman Kim’s Mastery Roman Kim’s technique is a marvel-a tightrope walk between precision and passion. His fingers glide effortlessly, leaving trails of stardust in their wake. The violin becomes an extension of his being-an oracle that whispers secrets of love, longing, and melancholy. How does he conjure such magic? It’s as if Mozart himself guides his hand.
    4. Adagio: A Heart Unveiled In the Adagio, Roman Kim bares his soul. The violin weeps, its lament echoing across centuries. I feel the ache-the longing for something intangible, a love lost or never found. The notes hang in the air, fragile as spider silk, yet they carry the weight of eternity. Roman Kim’s vibrato trembles like a fragile heart, and I am undone.
    5. Rondo: A Joyful Dance of Stars And then, the Rondo bursts forth-a jubilant celebration. Roman Kim’s bow becomes a comet’s tail, streaking across the firmament. The violin laughs, pirouettes, and invites us to join the cosmic revelry. We dance-audience and artist-our souls alight with the sheer exuberance of existence. The stars applaud, and I wonder if they envy our mortal rapture.
    6. The Final Cadence: A Breath Held As the final notes linger, I hold my breath. Roman Kim’s violin hovers on the precipice of silence, suspended between worlds. The audience, too, is suspended-a collective heartbeat waiting for release. And then, like a shooting star, the last note fades. Applause erupts-a thunderstorm of gratitude and awe. Roman Kim bows, and I bow with him, grateful to have witnessed this celestial communion.
In Conclusion Roman Kim’s rendition of “Eine kleine Nachtmusik” transcends mere performance. It is a communion of souls-an invitation to dance with the universe, to taste eternity in a fleeting moment. Bravo, maestro! Your violin speaks, and we listen-a chorus of hearts forever changed.
    Samuel
    ROMAN KIM
Roman Kim, the virtuoso violinist and composer, hails from the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic-a land where the echoes of Tatar, Belarusian, and Korean heritage intertwine like harmonious threads. Born on October 11, 1991, just months before the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Kim’s musical journey began early, guided by the hands of fate and a family steeped in diverse cultural roots.
The Tapestry of His Origins Picture a young Roman Kim cradling his first violin at the tender age of five. The instrument became an extension of his soul, a vessel through which he would channel centuries of musical legacy. By the age of seven, he had already claimed victory in national competitions-a prodigious talent emerging from the vast Eurasian expanse.
Moscow’s Melodic Embrace 🇷🇺 Kim’s path led him to the Central Music School in Moscow, where he studied under the watchful gaze of Galina Turchaninova. Her tutelage bestowed upon him a technical foundation-a canvas upon which he would later paint symphonies. And then, the Mstislav Rostropovich Foundation recognized his promise, granting him a scholarship. The young violinist’s star ascended, fueled by passion and relentless practice.
The Cologne Interlude At a mere sixteen, Roman Kim stood at the gates of the Cologne University of Music. Here, under the guidance of Viktor Tretyakov, he honed his craft. Tretyakov-the maestro who shaped not only Kim’s technique but also his very musical essence. “Turchaninova gave me a wonderful technical basis,” Kim reminisces, “and Tretyakov affected me very strongly musically”.
The Violin as His Voice Kim’s repertoire spans the Romantic period, where he waltzes with violin concertos and virtuoso compositions. But it’s his deep dive into the legendary Paganini’s bow and finger techniques that sets him apart. Like Paganini, Kim weaves new arrangements, breathing fresh life into timeless melodies. And then there’s an unexpected muse: Jimi Hendrix-whose electric spirit fuels Kim’s creative fire.
Stardust and Strings: “Air on a G String” In 2011, Kim’s rendition of Bach’s “Air on a G String” reverberated across the digital cosmos. Over 1.3 million viewers on TH-cam bore witness to his magic. The violin became a celestial wand, conjuring emotions beyond language. Ivry Gitlis, the Israeli virtuoso, declared Kim’s mastery as "one of the most incredible playing I have heard since I was born!".
The Inventor’s Prism But Kim isn’t confined to the stage alone. He dons prismatic glasses-an invention of his own making. These spectacles, like kaleidoscopic portals, enhance his focus and concentration. Through their tinted lenses, he glimpses alternate dimensions, where music and imagination intertwine.
Transcriptions and Triumphs As a composer, Kim weaves transcriptions and original works. His violin concerto premiered in Cluj-Napoca, Romania in 2017. Among his transcriptions, “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik” dances-a Mozartian reverie reborn. And let’s not forget the First Movement of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, now rendered anew by Kim’s nimble fingers.
The Kimpossible Journey In 2018, Kim’s album, aptly titled “Kimpossible,” graced the world. Sony Records cradled his notes-their resonance echoing through time and space.
A Citizen of Music So, what nationality does Roman Kim claim? His passport bears the stamp of Kazakhstan, but his true citizenship transcends borders. He belongs to the realm of music-a global citizen serenading the universe.
