What a wonderful video, I love charity shop shopping, as a lady aged 70plus who still loves to dress well and look well turned out. Shopping this way allows me to buy better quality clothing that would out of my budget new. The leather coat was a bargain. Beautiful jacket hope you bought it. It was a crime to leave it on the rail.
You're so right about feel: the fingers never lie! Many, many years ago, at a jumble sale scrum, i forced my hands through the crowd into the clothes pile, feeling around for something interesting, and touched what was unmistakably fine cashmere. Pulled out a brand new Pringle ladies jumper. Waved it at the volunteer stall helper and bought it for the princely sum of 10p. Still have it. My hands identified it before the crowds spotted it. So I'd advise anyone to visit high end shops and touch quality natural fabrics and materials, because cheap leather, silk wool and linen can often be poor quality versions which will neither look good nor last. Let your fingers get the feel of good fabrics - your brain will always retain this sensory info. Then go back to the charity shops. Good quality natural fabrics are very forgiving and last for years, usually in classic styles with decent workmanship, which also lasts for years. Win/win!
I'll also add that this goes for leather too. At a children's charity sale years ago, I spotted a few wallets and purses for sale, all for 30p each. Some were obviously plastic but one immediately jumped out, looking like fine grained leather. The first touch confirmed it so I picked it up to buy - was amazed to find it was a Gucci card wallet, with rolled gold corners. New. Still have that too. I actually gave more money for it as it was obviously worth more than the plastic wallets! I showed it delightedly to my mother in law who was one of the helpers, who said she'd laid them all out and thought they were all plastic! Interestingly, they'd correctly identified some poorer quality leather items as leather, I think because of the coarser grain. Educate your fingers whenever you can, ladies!
I hope you bought the Tory Birch blazer that was gorgeous, love your videos, vintage jewelry finds please on tips on how to find , especially earrings❤
Fab finds Monica ,as a woman of 69 and a pensioner on a budget, I still like nice clothes and not granny clothes. I love leather ,coats, bags, and shoes, and of course belts . ❤️
Loving your videos so much! I'm coming to London to visit my son next year ( from Australia)and can't wait to look at all the charity shops there! Really enjoying my virtual shopping, thankyou🤩
That’s certainly a charity shop that is excelling! Like I commented before on a previous video, I’ve been charity shopping for nearly 40 years! 😳. I’ve found endless quality items, home ware and clothing, like Laura Ashley, Stuart Weitzman, Dorma, John Lewis, Le Crueset, Gabor, the list goes on. I’ve been lucky in that I was doing charity shopping when few others were 😌.🧡💚
I thought of you when I got an amazing Roman dress in the charity shop on Friday. It was very Princess of Wales style. And styling it up with other pre loved items, shoes, bag and jewellery it’s definitely the way to go, for an up and coming event I have. I’m so glad you got the jacket, it was most definitely you.
Thank you Monica for sharing your style tips and great advice. You have found your niche here. More please! I love and admire the way that you mix your charity shop / Preloved life with you very glamorous life - it works! Thank you 🙏🏻
So many great bargains again Monica! I can’t believe you found that TB jacket😍 👏 & a Needle & Thread dress! 😯 Great tip to buy ahead of the season 👍 Great video & I’m so enjoying your channel. Thank you 💕
Oh my gosh, I’m loving your video and want to play them all. Your tips are so good. 😊 I’m totally into resale shopping. I see such great value and my wardrobe is upscaled. Thanks for the tips; so valuable. New follower from San Diego, California, for sure. Shared you with 2 friends.
Monica! you are always SO inspirational! if I can't get to the Charity shops, I feel I've 'been there', watching you! Thanks for a great video, and tips, as always! love sue xxx
Hi Monica. Another great video featuring a good quality charity shop full of goodies. I love your personal style, the combination of your jacket , simple top and the lacy skirt finished off with an expensive looking belt is so cool.
That was a great video Monica, you gave us great tips on charity shop shopping (materials, touch etc) That particular shop has very good stock and is well set out. Keep the videos coming please. Hope you got the jacket!
Thank you for this video. I live in Texas. I'm a senior citizen and I appreciate how to look for statement pieces. I've found great trousers, Ralph Lauren, $5.99! Eileen Fischer silky off-white blouse, 8.99! @ Goodwill!! I know “keep looking” pays off. You look so smart! Thanks again!
Just found your amazing videos. This charity shop is great, can I ask where you are shopping as there is nothing like the items you found in our local charity shops.
Love your videos.. please kindly mention where the charity shop is? I am from South Africa and travel occasionally to the uk but also have friends and family who travel to the uk. I have a cousin who lives in Hackney stoke newington so it would help to know the location if we want to ask our traveling friends and family to pop into these stores. Thank you so much I love Tory Burch especially accessories and sandals but I am not crazy about that cropped jacket. Just my opinion.
I don’t like shops that segregate clothes by colour. If I want to find that special piece it’s often because it’s popped out from the others it’s contrasting with. I’m quite open to wearing most colours, but I find special pieces can be practically lost altogether if they are lumped with all the same colour on a rail, plus I get bored searching. Each to their own I guess.
Lovely videos but charity shops where I live do not have the range of labels that you are finding. I am a serious crafter and source many fabrics from clothing which I cut up and reuse.

Love these videos. I only wish the charity shops where I live were as good quality and charges what your shops do.

Hello! This is in Ipswich, in Suffolk ♥️
Which city you’re filming is it London or other city
Suffolk, Ipswich. The London pieces are much higher, I’ll film there soon!♥️
Lovely videos but charity shops where I live do not have the range of labels that you are finding. I am a serious crafter and source many fabrics from clothing which I cut up and reuse.
Thanks for the lovely comment ♥️
💗💗💗
