In fairness, he WAS 100 percent on the nose about the stupidity of airship travel. If you want luxury travel, you have cruise ships. If you want practicality, you have planes. Why pay an obscene amount of money for a shitty cruise and/or a prohibitively slow air passage?

It was noted to be leaking hydrogen and was attempting to land during an electrical storm, so it was probably going to go up in flames regardless that day.
Oh wow, he shortstocked his own stock, then went to blew up his non-flammable ship and could've been the only survivor. He doesn't realize that there's no way in hell he'd get away with this in court, it'd be obvious from the start.
Honestly it's no surprise you find so many idiots who try desperate gambles like that and always always fucking failed because well the logic you put down seems to be something they can't fathom! It's the typical step one step two step three and four being I don't know with step five being profit! And I'm getting screwed over step five because step three and four were very important to ensure they enjoy step 5! This was the 1st episode of ARCHER that I ever watched on tv on COMEDY CENTRAL's marathon of ARCHER I saw the description and it seemed interesting that was 2 years ago I still LOVE ARCHER to this moment

The issue with rigid frame airships is that they need to be enormous to be somewhat useful, and as a result they're rather fragile. If you look at all of the major catastrophes, they were mostly caused by weather just ripping them apart. It's the square-cube-law fucking them over.

I think the company 'happened to' contract ISIS (most probably arranged by Mallory somehow) and the captain was just ISIS's contact on board and thus was sent to brief them.
He didn't bring the gang on board, Mallory completely coincidentally made a false bomb threat/tip to weasel her way on board for the same flight where he had planted an actual bomb that he intended to detonate without warning.
