Thank you for another great reaction to Geoff. I love how you first let the song play out. I love your breakdowns the second time around.

I say it every time, Geoff is so smooth throughout his range. His voice is too. ;) He has definitely got lower over time, due to age and training his voice. I think perhaps he was a baritone when younger and envied his bass singing heroes. He wanted to emulate them and has put in a lot of hours on developing his low range. And getting older does deepen the voice of course. It's akin to developing muscles. Weightlifters didn't start out looking that way and Geoff didn't start out sounding this way. He really is a genius and deserves a lot more acclaim than he currently gets. Same is true of VoicePlay of course. For me this is perfect in the way it emphasises the gravitas and sorrow of the words, it is respectful of the subject matter which I think is important. Geoff puts his soul into everything he does.

Layne has a lot to do with that too. Everytime he arranges a video he makes Geoff go super low. Geoff told told Layne that he can only go so low. 😂
In Voiceplay new video Geoff is super low except for 2 solos.

Thank you for this! You're the first reactor I've seen do a more in depth dive of this so far and I was curious about all the ins and outs of this song 💜

Thank you very much. Of course I came here because of Geoff and finally somebody who can actually say why it’s amazing. I look forward to hearing you share your expertise as a fresh subscriber. Thank you very much for your break down here.

Nice reaction Ethan! Loving the channel so far, especially the chats with other reactors that I follow (Jen Glatzhofer etc!) I knew this would hit hard, as soon as I saw it drop - we've been looking forward to this 'follow-up' to 'Misty Mountains Cold' where we first met the 'dwarves' from the Hobbit series..! 😊

As all of your reactions I watched so far, I was enjoying it very much. Your knowledge is super impressive. And yes, I would be interested in a video about voice clarification.

Good to see you again, Ethan. I feel that this is Geoff's best solo - love the distinct voices. VoicePlay dropped a new one today "In The Air Tonight" (Phil Collins).

Love the in-depth breakdown of not only what's happening in the vocals and instrumentals, but why it's likely done that way and how it contributes to the feel of the song.

Geoff said in the premiere chat that the snare drum sound is two shovels, one hitting sand, the other dirt. I'd like to know what that very last sound is. Reminds me of turning off a car when the engine is knocking.

Geoff himself uses to consider himself a baritone, and if you just consoder hos rrsonance, bass-baritone is probably his place, if you just consider his tone quality deep bass is probably pretty darn accurate ^^
