    Costco sells big bags of cranberries this time of year for super cheap. Thanks for the recipe! I’ll be getting some and making this.

    Two questions, is the processing time the same for a water bath canner? And if using the water bath, should the jars and water be hot?

    Do you let frozen berries thaw? How do you avoid possible breakage with jars with hot steam bath and room temp jars? Thanks. Love my steam canner as well.

    Awesome video, great advices! I followed every steps while making my cranberry juice, 21 jars! They look amazing, the only thing bothers me is that some foamy bubbles are on the top line of the liquid inside the jars. Seems like they're bubbling, but just foam all around... All of the jars are sealed perfectly, but I don't know if I did something wrong or this is just normal to have this foam inside? Could you please let me know, if I should worry about it or it is normal. Thank you in advance!

      I just did 20 jars also.... I have the foam too but my head space is about 2 inches... Ughhh is it safe.?

    • @Gracewalkfarm
      @Gracewalkfarm  ปีที่แล้ว

      It should settle out if it’s just air bubbles. It won’t hurt anything as long as the lids sealed. 💕

    Rule of thumb: never shake your jars before/after canning before they're sealed. The contents can get under the seal causing it to not seal properly. Also you'll be able to tell if the product has not sealed when pulling out of the canner by checking if the jar is bubbling. If it's not bubbling then the air is escaping through the seal. Set that jar off to itself. 👍

    If I use pints instead of quarts, would I still use a cup of cranberries?

    • @Gracewalkfarm
      @Gracewalkfarm  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question. If you wanted it to be SUPER concentrated you could, but I'd recommend against that. The recipe is already pretty concentrated. I'd back it down to no more than 1/2 cup but honestly you could still do it well with 1/3 cup.

      Make it without the sugar and sweeten after you open it.

  • @mirthab.7576

    I made it in the stove top with not sugar and came out ok ..

  • @ourappalachianhome34
    @ourappalachianhome34 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My sugar didn’t dissolve completely in some of my jars. I used hot water and even stirred before putting my lid and rings on. Not sure why it did that!

    • @Gracewalkfarm
      @Gracewalkfarm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not uncommon for there to be some sugar at the bottom. You did nothing wrong. You can stir it after you open the jar and it will be just fine.

    Do you sterilize all the jars before using a steam canner?

    • @Gracewalkfarm
      @Gracewalkfarm  ปีที่แล้ว

      I run my jars through the sterilize cycle on my dishwasher.

  • @ImTheClay

    Okay the leave them alone part...I have a house full of boys that would shake it before asking hey mom what's this...would that ruin it?

    • @Gracewalkfarm
      @Gracewalkfarm  ปีที่แล้ว

      You definitely don’t want to shake them before they have a chance to seal - the lids seal as they cool down. But the jars will be hot so I don’t think your boys would be able to shake them before they cool. You should be fine!

    Wait I don’t have the space. I have to process 30 bags I just got on sale. So I will fill with cranberries add water to bottom neck. Splash of lemon juice. Then process. Water takes up space in those jars!

    • @baltimoresbabyxoxo
      @baltimoresbabyxoxo ปีที่แล้ว

      5 bags 12oz. each will do 14 jars. You'll need 7 cases of quart jars. You don't need lemon juice unless you like it in your juice. Makes good popsicles in the summer.

      I’m confused. . . 1 cup = 8 oz so wouldn’t 5 X 12 oz bags make 7 1/2 quart jars?? I’m going to try this tomorrow so I want to make sure that I’m not missing something.

    If I don’t have a steam canner, how do I process with a water bath canner?

    • @Gracewalkfarm

      It will be the same way with a water bath canner. 25 minutes and your set!

      I haven’t personally tried it, but I’ve heard maple syrup works beautifully. Not sure how stevia or other sweeteners would do, but I think it would be worth a try.
