Go back to yourself time after time. Sit still in silence every day, 20 minutes. Some days will be 'good', others will not. Just keep coming back, to yourself, every day. Thinking won't do it. Just sit still, in silence, no guided meditation, just stillness and silence; if you need to focus on something, focus on your breath. Keep at it. You will never, ever, get to the bottom of it. There will be no end to your journey. It will continue on and on. Andy by sitting in stillness and silence every day, your journey will become wondrous.

This is often my case.Clarity and confusion is still state of mind. Beyond mind is state of being aware. When confusion comes, stop contemplating and then just be. This immediately brings one back to state of being aware.

@@keithoyoung34 Keith it’s honestly amazing my friend. We have had so much information over time of what all of this looks like, but not a simple practical way to TRULY get there that can work for all, and that’s what Byron Katie discovered. There are 2 worksheets she offers that you can google. One is called the “judge your neighbor worksheet” and the other I believe is called “one belief at a time”. So one is to do with pain from others and the other is for situations. Now in doing these one by one (I suggest doing them with EVERY SINGLE THOUGHT YOU HAVE THAT CAUSES YOU PAIN) you will see that this state becomes so natural with zero effort thoughts or energy to sustain. Because that state of awareness/bliss IS our natural state, and like Rupert said our thoughts are getting in the way. This removes each thought indefinitely because these thoughts can not survive awareness. I promise as much as I can be certain of anything, you stick with this long enough and one by one that state becomes more and more natural. SO SO blessed to have this system! Give it a shot and I’m here to help in any areas I can! I will be making TONS of videos on this in the future on this channel probably in the next 6 months or so if desired to check back! Love you all more than you know! ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

Rupert, your teaching is like finding water in the desert! I come from an emotionally abusive childhood with such relentless criticism that I came to believe that I was unworthy even to be alive. Twenty years of therapy have enabled me to live a happy, relatively balanced life, but I can still, on occasion, be triggered, especially if I have made some kind of mistake. Then I do what I call “fall into the pit” of guilt, shame and self hatred. It happened a couple of weeks ago, and two days later I stumbled upon you on TH-cam. As I said, it was like finding an oasis in the desert, and I have been drinking in your words every possible moment ever since. The idea of taking 10 seconds to stop and remember that I AM - the calm, unchanging, impartial screen unharmed by past experiences - makes complete sense to me. I am practicing it many, many times a day, so that the next time a trigger comes, it will only take me 10 seconds to return to clarity. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

I think you’re right. What we don’t often realize when TH-cam is the sole source of information for ‘awakening,’ is the the amount of body work done conscientiously at retreats, in therapy, or inadvertently in private as we let go of old beliefs and patterns. Trauma - as I use it here - is any emotional energy stored in the body, and in my experience, needs to be released and/or recognized to help move the process along. TRE is an easy and useful modality I’ve used, but there are many others.

What Rupert is saying is possible only when you've once tasted that feeling of being home aka awareness. If you've not experienced it once, you would not know how to come back to it. That experience is where you realise that the mind and its traumas and dramas are just mere objects that appear and disappear in you. When you'll realise that the first time you'll laugh at yourself for giving attention to mind's stupidity as you could clearly see that you are just seeing it and it is separate from you and has no effect on you.
It is very essential to have that experience once. It is essential to experience being home once. If not, you'll not know how to come back. And if you have experienced once, it is not possible to stay away from it for long.

Trusting the words of the teacher also helps in clearing the mind for effective self attention. For example, my teacher says, "That which exists at all moments you know of, alone is truth. Rest is untruth". Trusting these words gives me courage to devalue the objects of experience and auto focus myself to that which always is.

I think we’re all aware of the screen or that state of consciousness, awareness that’s behind our everyday activities but it’s just how clever , manipulative and seductive the mind, ego can be at keeping you in its state of importance so I truly relate to his question
Returning is an ongoing drawing back and sometimes I’m easily in the state of now and it’s beautiful and everything seems so dimmed yet I’m present to what’s occurring but other times I’m drawn in by it’s power and my own sense of belief and it’s like it makes me believe this is where it’s at
Still I continually return to my real home and I fully realize that’s where my blliss wonder and essence lives and all will be well as my mother would always say....❤️

The question calls for generalization, disregarding many variables in people's individuality. To one person the magic inner motion toward peace could mean acceptance, nonjudgmental blending with the flow of experiencing -- whereas to another, a radical, almost disciplinarian attitude would call for insistence on reprogramming the mind through willful positivism. One has to discover their own intuitive fingerprint for some kind of inner guidance. In this culture it's true that "one thinks and hundred just follow", which is the symptom of mental laziness of expecting others to tell us how to get out of those very intimate emotional mazes where only we can point to the way out. For we did it -- we can undo it.

Before giving my comment to this subject , I was very very careful , for sure I don’t mislead everyone who participated on this course . To me , it’s important . In the East we say “ enlightenment is not hard to get once we have , it’s difficult 😥 to maintain it “ . I think there are many layers or levels of self awareness. Discipline is a key if someone has a strong desire to rediscover what is . It really didn’t dissipate or lose its nectar just to follow guidelines and precepts not in terms of religious idealism but rather to cultivate continuously ( time after time) .

It's interesting... the thought "How do I return to myself?" is the core of dissociation. How can I be anything other than myself? If I was anything other than myself, where does the desire to return to myself come from if it does not come from myself? And if that desire is strongly felt, who feels it -- myself, or some other self masquerading as "myself"?

I simply can't imagine the necessary dualistic splitting that is preached, even after sincerely trying for decades. I just don't 'get' how to split into 'me' & 'myself' ... or 'I' & 'my mind / feelings / brain' that seems to be a prerequisite for these buddhist-style teachings, where one has to imagine 2 'selves' or 'good / bad' etc. I naturally drift back to seeing everything as manifestations of aspects of Allness / the Pleroma / the Universe (what I mistakenly thought was meant by the Tao). I give up. There aren't 2 or more 'I's for me. Maybe I'm unusual or weird - but I just can't dis-integrate into pieces as most gurus, psych 'experts' & 'therapists' teach, even after serious, prolonged trying. :\ Dualism just isn't for me.

    Dear Rupert Sir,
    I have a few questions:
    1. Realization of self is being spoken since centuries. Great seekers have realized and one among them is Bhagawan Sri RamaNa and teachers like you. Now, there are people, there are births and deaths. Does it not imply that although, there may have been a few who would have realized, does the continuance not indicate that creation has been there and will also be there? So, on one side we say we have realized, but the fact that the creation is continuing, does it not imply, that it is not just within an individual's effort? If so, how is this going to help?
    2. On the top of this, if self continues to manifest and that one among those manifested realize " I am that", manifestation still continues? I feel that in (God's) dream, we are asking the dreamed character to realize ..but if not for that character, the dreamer dreams of something else? So long he thinks, manifestation exists. Then, what are we achieving thru the effort for realization? Where is this all going?
    Request your response.
    Regards,
    RK

How can I be reminded of myself if not by experience, which I don't control? I don't control my thoughts and it's my thoughts that both keep me and bring me "closer" to myself. It seems that if the universe, or circumstance, or conditions had not brought me to see Rupert's talks then I would most certainly not recognize myself in everyday life, so even though I HAVE seen his talks that in itself is still just a product of circumstance.

@@suptatoms Are you able to wash the dishes when you don't feel like it? Yes. Are you able to make the bed when you don't feel like it? Yes. And so on. So clearly at some level you can make yourself do things rather than waiting for them to just happen. All the great teachers of eastern spirituality throughout history tell you you will need to make yourself practice. What is this practice in non-duality? It's noticing the feeling of awareness. Going back to it over and over. Using various approaches as pointed out by Rupert. Or instructions by Ramana Maharashi or Nisargadatta. At the level that you make yourself do things, do that. Set aside hours and do it for hours if you are really serious. All the big teachers say you must practice, you must want it, you must be earnest. Sometimes people will say "you are already it", which is a powerful pointer, but it doesn't mean dont try hard as well. You do both. You see it is all perfect now, you are it now, and then you try to sustain that feeling with hard work if that's what it takes. It's somewhat paradoxical but not enough to stop you doing it. Accept the paradox and keep fighting forward.

@@nadiacorellagamella5380 The being we call Putin is unconscious. He was programed since he was born to fear and to take action from that fear. The thoughts he identifies with, his personality, are truly vile and cruel. But he is not those thoughts. he just believes he is, so his actions are on autopilot. The one who watches from his eyes, the one beyond or before the complexes and thought patterns is pure and untouched. It is this being we share.
On a more physical temporal level, what is happening in Ukrainian is an old energy. It is part of a fear which has dominated this planet for thousands of years, but that time is ending. An awakening is taking place that will strip the fear of its power. A light is growing and it’s brightness will dispel the darkness that the fear needs to survive.
There are many beings on the earth at this time intentionally sinking deeply into the love, hope and light. You don’t hear about them because they do it in silence. But they shall come forth. 2000 years ago Christ walked this planet, he was one man. He healed people, calmed seas, multiplied food, spoke of the freedom of consciousness and we killed him. There have been many masters, but not that many. Soon there will be thousands upon thousands. The Darkness, which troubles you, will flee from their presence.
I invite you to lay up your troubles and fears at the feet of “God or consciousness” and join them. I love you and I promise you, It will be alright! You are my sister and I love you.

Are you implying with your answer that the mind is consciousness? It has been said that the body-mind construct is only the manifestation of consciousness, the mind isn't a 'thing' but is a movement within consciousness which can control itself, consciousness merely observes this movement. When speaking with the abbot of our village Buddhist temple (I live in Asia) I mentioned that I can blank out the minds movement at will without any effort but I get nothing from it, he said that is obvious, consciousness is then only aware of a blank state what is to be gained by that.
I am not an enlightened person, I don't even know what that means but I am inherently content, that is enough for me. If everything is Brahman then the guru is Brahman - ego and the Jiva is Brahman + ego, both are still Brahman so why bother. Maya must be a construct of Brahman and therefore desired and has a purpose.

:) did you do something specific to learn to blank out the mind?

    • @albundy9597
      @albundy9597 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@FabSia No, it just happens if I want it to but thoughts start to arise after a few minuets, I then just banish them again, it isn't a state that I keep up longer than 10 minuets because I don't see any point in it. I don't have to meditate, I can do this in a room full of people or when just walking along a path. I thought this was normal but when talking with one of the monks at our temple he said it was unusual and normally requires practice. Obviously I am still conscious and can observe things around me and understand if someone speaks to me but there is no comment in my head and no thought accompanies the spoken word but if I speak it is finished, gone.

    • @albundy9597

@@FabSia When re-reading my reply to you I realized that I do do something when thoughts start to arise in the blank state, I breath through my nose imagining that the breath first travels through my head sweeping away the thoughts through my nostrils, the thoughts then disappear and don't start to reappear for another 3 or 4 minuets, repeat and rinse. Apart from relaxation I don't see any point in the blank state unless you are anxious about something.
Out of interest in philosophy I have read much about the Buddhist and Hindu interpretations of consciousness, they differ. I watch some spiritual teachings on youtube, Rupert Spira, Francis Lucille, Eckhart Tolle etc. they also differ in some respects but they are all still just concepts, they don't convince me. Eckhart Tolle is the only one who offers practical help in daily life without too much wu wu. It does surprise me that many people who go on these retreats (seen from the questions asked and the reactions) are broken people who do need help and maybe these retreats do some good.

You are not your body nor your mind so,who are you?
You are consciousness so by asking the question you get back being who you are but this just doesn't give you a quick remedy to minimise thoughts, feelings etc you have to do meditation mindfulness every waking hour and one day you'll be there then you'll understand
      who you are .

The body mind cannot feel so it has no feelings, it only experiences pain or pleasure these are not feelings they are not real, like the body mind. But SELF knows Love and joy because they are felt feelings from thruth. The only thruth is Love that can never be felt by the body mind because it's not real, how can something that's not real can feel. So depression comes from a mind that has no feelings of love , joy or peace.
