Its so hard to watch a control deck. "Are you sure about that? Are you sure you want to do that?" "In response" "Do you see all this untapped mana?" It becomes "officer, may I please play the game this turn?" "Mommy, can I play games with my friends today?" The rule 0 convo also seems to have left at least 2 of these decks way out of their league.
So we got the mystical tutor, cyclonic rift, free counter spells, infinite combo blue deck vs a tribal pirate deck...what happened to the rule 0 discussion? XD
fun fact ward is a triggered ability that roaming throne does in fact double as well so for sedgemoor witch its pay 3 life then pay 3 life or its countered
Either of you have tips on building a Rocco deck? Currently have one listed out but I feel like I’m getting torn between +1/+1 counters and artifact token themes.
@@jeffreytenney4833take advantage of playing things from exile and tokens. My deck sees a lot of artifacts/tokens being made and using said tokens for either mana, damage triggers, or turning them into big critters.
I would recommend building Rocco the exile route, i also include some grouphug cards just to speed games up. A really fun include is war doctor and some Cascade spells, have gotten some sneaky wins with him
Ward triggers twice with Roaming Throne, Alyi should have paid 3 more life on top of the normal 3 to remove Sedgemoor Witch. With that said appreciating the step by step for stack interaction to help newer players understand the madness that can happen in EDH.
True, also at some point in that turn they say "has ward 2" but roaming throne always has ward 4 basically, or even better because you can't stifle it in one move.
I used to have a deck like aylis when I first started playing magic. I have come to a realization that it’s about fun for the table and took it apart to build a more fun and unique deck
Isn't ward a triggered ability? So when Ayli tried to blow up lynch's witch, roaming throne should've seen it and she would have to pay a total of 6 life?
Nice show, although It felt like the power level of the decks was not reaaaaally balanced ? Ayli casted 5 tutors total this game (mystical / solve the equation x2 and gamble) and used dockside 2 times to get to a boring infinite combo (btw you're not supposed to check for interaction before the resolution of a spell and then decide to copy it, you have to keep priority and cast the copy spell immediately otherwise priority is lost, Ayli should know that). Also that rollback attempt 25:28 ("I never said it would resolve" while literally having said it 5 seconds prior is .. eh, don't do that) Otherwise, like always good vibes from Ray and Jason :)
I think Ayli can't choose enough targets for comment storm to kill Lynch (Each target you choose must be different). However, reiterate would solve this problem. Good game small mistake at the end.
And that is why I end up breaking all my izzet deck apparts 😅. The only one I kept is Ian Malcolm. Good games everyone, thanks for the early show from Quebec, 🇨🇦
I was gonna make a vadrik deck last year but decided against it because it just doesn't seem fun for the table which is more important to me. i hate infinite combo decks for this reason.
44:00 This wouldn't have made a huge difference, but could Ayli have held priority and used Whirlwind Denial to counter the Diary's triggered ability that would have exiled her Experimental Augury in addition to countering all of Lynch's stuff?
Ward is a triggered ability so Ayli would have had to have paid 3 life twice when targeting Sedgemoor Witch with Brutal Expulsion. Also when Ayli went to resolve her Turnabout she has to cast Reiterate before resolving Turnabout, which wasn't a problem, it just sounded like one when she didn't declare the fact that she is holding priority to cast Reiterate. Izzet spellslinger is nuts lmao kill on sight for sure
did anyone miss that Ayli shouldn't have gotten the "dig through time" back from "river song's diary".... it imprints the spell so 'exile'. if it leaves the field they don't get the spells back they remain exiled.
Fun game to watch. Will be honest from the looks of it you had two control heavy decks and one thief decks not a game I would want to step into. Seems like it would be rather painful and unfun to do. :P
JUDGE! Ward is a triggered ability so because of Roaming throne, the ward cost needs to be paid twice. So for the witch it would be to pay 6 lives, not 3.
Regarding the card "Turnabout," do you not have to "choose" before selecting the target player? Sorry for the ignorance. I've only been playing for about 6 months.
No, because you make all choices on resolution, with a few specific exceptions: - Targets - Modes - Additional or alternative costs - Distribution of things being distributed (e.g., "distribute five +1/+1 counters between any number of targets") - Any choices that would affect the cost of the spell and/or any of the above elements, such as the value of X The player is a target, so you have to choose it on cast. The type of permanent is not.
Nah, its a good question. choose is the first part, but the second sentence targets a player. so if you have to target, thats on casting spell, BUT cards always follow the sentences so the first part with "choose" have to apply for correct order, I guess ? O.o
All targets and modes must be announced at the time the spell is cast, but that's it. In the case of Turnabout, you cast the spell and choose target player. Then, as the spell resolves, you make the other decisions.

what the fk is with the emphasis on stage changing now? Lets not do that, its boring AF! Moving to combat, any triggers? Moving to MP2 any responses? Stop that, boring AF, makes games last 10x longer, if people wanna respond, they'll respond...
Really dragging your games through the mud with all this extra attention to the ridiculously complex mechanisms of Magic. I watch this show for the fun LGS experience, not for a mini-tutorial on phase sequences and priority resolutions.
That may be your opinion but I find it fun and honestly interesting when they go into depth of fun and not so popular rulings and mechanics, all magik is fun magik
It was also amusing that after 34:10 Lynch reminds Ayli about day & night and she says it doesn't matter because that creature is dead. No no no. You introduced the day & night mechanic to the game which NEEDS to be tracked for the remainder of the game regardless if there is a permanent in play that cares about it. You don't get to play the control deck, be the judge of the table AND arbitrarily decide when rules no longer apply. But hey, we're all human and shit happens. It's just a game after all.
And in regards to the opinion on the other side of this coin. I find it really neat to see as someone who doesn't play Magic because it explains more of the game to me. Sure, there are a number of mentioned phases where they do nothing but being able to see the complexity of a card game I don't play is kinda cool
Honestly, being the first player after a permission deck just isn't a fun time. I feel for Lynch, Ayli was focusing on him HARD
It really makes you play on your toes. It makes you a better player for sure. Can’t slip up.
yeah I guess its cause lynch knows better what she can do with her deck xD
@@IHateYourDecklove this positive response!
It's official, Ray's my favorite deck builder
Ray should be the second host
I really liked the way that rakdos did his thing and what aylee did was really cool too i like how you guys play properly it makes it funner imo

@21:25 Why does the 5 attack damage not resolve, as the Pest token got sacrificed before?
Why are they hyoerfixating on the steps? We know what you’re doing, we play too.
Dang was rooting for admiral brass but great videos as always
Good friends and great decks! Good game to everyone 🥳
You always have to gank the combo/counterspell player, none of it happened. still was fun.
Plum the forbidden fruit😂
Great episode really spicy 🌶️
😂 Plumb the forbidden fruit lol 😂
“Plum the Forbidden”
Ayli should have lost 6 life from targeting the witch. Ward is a triggered ability that would trigger twice because of roaming throne.
I was so sure lynch was gonna win😂
Q4 ayli: hey did you go to nocturnal last year?
In 23? No I dind. I went 22.
I love judith, built her myself and shes diiiiiirty
It’s so good to see Ayli back and doing well. I’m happy that she had fun.
Yaaaaay Ayli is back. Nice to see everyone having fun

fun fact ward is a triggered ability that roaming throne does in fact double as well so for sedgemoor witch its pay 3 life then pay 3 life or its countered
"remember when we use to play with noobs" misses that ward is a triggered ability so the pay is double while Roaming throne is out.
Glad somebody's playing my favorite commander, rocco
Same

Yea, just really doesn’t seem fun to play with and comes off as socially inept.
Also they act like her decks are so good but she loses all the time
That's a big nope... not even once! eeek!
I honestly stopped watching cause of her. She tries to rule lawyer everything and is just obnoxious. Definitely kills the vibe of the show.
@@trashcan_papi Socially inept you say. Says the man named Trashcan Papi.
That "I hate your deck" to Whirlwind Denial was so on point 😂
Oh yes. I got my coffee, my breakfast and a new I Hate Your Deck video ready to be watched. Best Friday ever !!!
Ward is a triggered ability btw. You would have to pay the three life twice cause of the roaming throne.

When Aily targets the Sedgemore Witch, shouldn't the Roaming Throne (named humans) double the ward trigger?
Correct me if I’m wrong but wouldn’t roaming throne cause the ward ability on sedgemoor witch to trigger twice when it was targeted?
GG guys, well played. That play with lynch doing blas act and gaining life off the judith ability was fun to watch.
I’m still fairly new to commander and found the break down of how cards resolve was very helpful tp understand what was happening
Blue players playing solitaire....
I do like it a lot that you guys go through the phases :D it shows people how things can work with Sequencing! Amazing game :D

This has been pointed out. And I missed it while playing. But yes you are 100% correct
@krazoanfox omg I'm honestly just excited to have you comment! Always respected the way you build decks btw!
doubling season shouldn't trigger when Dockside were cast ?
41:20
32:42 "Woah, put that on a quote." 😅
What I don’t like is that ayli is always looking at whomever she sits next to’s hand
Just had to pause and comment! i got a Judith deck in the same sleeves as Lynch.. i hope he does well this game xD
Whatever that thing is gets more annoying every times it's on an episode.
Whwy did ayli take life for casting mystical tutor?😅

This seems like a miserable game
@29:43 ward triggers twice because of the roaming throne… soooooooooooo misplay. All that pause explaining rules just to miss one so simple
Love seeing Ayli back, and great game, but shouldn't the roaming throne have caused the on Sedgemore witch to trigger twice?
Well, this definitely made sure I never make a Izmagus deck. That's not a fun experience
Go Ayli! I have a Mizzix deck called "Poison X Burn" that's fairly spicy. :)
at about 29:40 ward is a triggered ability, isnt it? so roaming throne would force ayli to pay an additional 3 life to target that creature
Dont forget roaming throne should have doubled the ward trigger!
With love, a Parnesse player.
the ward on the witch would have triggered twice because of roaming throne, so they would have had to pay 6 life to target it.
this would have been such a good game had it not been for counterspell tribal into infinite combo xd
First again!!!! Love you guys and love your videos!!
You rock!
I love when my opponent tutors their singleton deck 3 times in one turn for their infinite combo wincon :/
magic is investet
Gotta love spell slinging. 😁
Might have been caught already but ward is a triggered ability that roaming throne would double 30:31
roaming throne triggers itself on ward. Its technically ward 4.

No. Targeting for all spells comes before anything else unless the card says otherwise, or the issue is in a preceding, separated line of text.
So I have to name a target. As part of the 8 steps of casting a spell. Choosing artifact land or creature. Comes as part of resolution.
All targets and modes must be announced at the time the spell is cast, but that's it. In the case of Turnabout, you cast the spell and choose target player. Then, as the spell resolves, you make the other decisions.

Ward is a trigged ability and roaming throne doubles that as well

Its extremely important for playing control. I'll do that off camera too. As a control player. You need to know where you're at in the turn.
Then just don't watch, that's how magic is played
This is definitely a game where the motto "make them have the answer" comes into play 😂
