Harley Night Train Starter Just Spins - Starter Clutch Failure

This video shows what goes on when your Harley starter clutch fails. When you have a starter just spinning or clicking, this may be your problem. This is a 07 Night Train, but is the same for many soft tail Harleys. Fix this problem by replacing the starter clutch, or the complete starter.

Be careful putting your hands in there when the battery is connected even if the starter doesn’t seem to engage. It can engage and can out of a freak occurrence try to start the engine. It’s rare but has been known yo happen, turning the whole assembly into a meat grinder.
