Directional tires can be rotated across sides, just have to have them remounted to the opposite side's wheel. That's a proper rotation. Discount Tire does stuff like this for free, if you've purchased from them. Other tire places could have similar support. But you definitely want to get those tires rotated to the other side of the car...

Thanks for the advice, I’ll have to look into that

barely makes a difference to do that vs what he did in the video..

Would be a nice touch to introduce a power washer to wash out the brakes, wheel wells, and the wheels while you are at it.

True, the results from power washing can be very satisfying

I love being apart of the STI family. I started with a 2017 WRX in 2018 and upgraded to the 2020 STI in January 2022. I think Subaru will make another STI down the line. Our cars are very iconic. People try and race me every day out here in California. Have a great week brother, subies forever. 😊

I know it doesn’t tailor to this video but are you able to show how it might be able to silence that awe touring exhaust a little by using pool noodles? The short quad tip design is something I haven’t seen. I have a 21 sti with 25k miles and live in a townhome. I don’t know who else to ask lol

I've seen some videos of people using a piece of pool noodle to help silence the exhaust so if you really need the AWE touring catback I suppose it could work when you're close to home. If you have the money for a more permanent solution there are many quieter quad tips catbacks that sound pretty good!

I have to do this on our grocery getter
FWD. All season tires. We're not gentle with it
Front tires have almost twice the wear of the rear. I really have to watch out

A great video brother. I do all my STI maintenance @ Irvine Subaru by my job in Irvine Ca. Your STI is looking good Sir. I own a 2020 STI, world Rally Bue, my Bluebaru. Did you know that our cars have front and rear catalytic converters?

Thank you, The STI in WRB is so iconic. Haha I guess I never really thought about having multiple catalytic converters, better not let the cat thieves know!

If you do this again, i recommend getting a wheel cleaner like iron x and a wheel brush so its thoroughly cleaned. Also I recommend getting some power tools to help with taking things off faster and definitely new lugs

It looks like you set your torque wrench to 99 ft lbs, not 89 ft lbs…

    • @STi_Alan
      @STi_Alan  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

I was fully expecting someone to mention this because I was debating about it with myself for a while. Many torque wrenches have the hash marks go out horizontally then up diagonally to the number so you can read it, but this one just has straight horizontal hash marks lined up directly with the numbers. Based on all the research I could find on this torque wrench, the way I set it should be 89 ft lbs

You're wasting your time. Change your Oil every 3000 not 6000 miles instead and skip the rotation. If you think about it, especially with an awd car which specifies that you have 4 uniform tires in size/fitment, treadwear and air pressure., if you arent experiencing uniform wear(which is the point of a rotation) you need to get an alignment not a rotation or you have a damaged drivetrain or suspension component. Also, when you pull the wheel off the hub after removing the lug nuts, put your hands with the backs toegether so your palms face out, then grab the wheel from the inner side of the rim at 10 and 2 like you would a steering wheel and yank towards you, use a knee or foot to brace it if you need to.
I mean, unless you like bear hugging a dirty wheell several times every oil change.

star pattern = Stripped. Good luck with that in an emergency.

Maybe I’ll look into getting different lug nuts someday
