    Just had my second lesson and this was the big takeaway. It's an amazing moment when it clicks and you can see immediate results. Low hands all the way through past impact help finishing posture, strike, and path. Great tip.

    Wow, I went to the range today after watching this clip 5 times last night, honestly I couldn't believe the difference using the low hands drill, weather 6 degrees, 43 farenheight, wind chill made it feel like minus 4 according to my phone, and it was straight into my face. I normally hit in normal conditions on the range using their range ball's with my wedge 100 9 around 120 and 7 around 140. I replayed the video to remind me of the action and drill, bingo, couldn't believe it, my first wedge flew the 100 yard marker, same again with the next 4, up to 9 iron, same again, flying 10 yards further, then on to 7 iron, all around the 150 marker, the biggest difference I noticed was the flight, the ball flight despite the cold wind were penetrating, I got to say this low hands drill is the best drill I've ever tried, no complex swing thoughts, just keep hands low, and it actually felt effortless and so much more in balance, can't wait to try it out on the course. Highly recommend drill.

    Spot on advice. I discovered on the range yesterday by accident that keeping my hands low past impact produced better strikes but it also helped me maintain my posture. Previously my hands were rising up too early and causing me to lose my posture causing the shaft to get too vertical and opening the club face resulting in weak low and right shots. This really works. Thanks for reinforcing what I discovered accidentally on the range

    Ive been trying this for last month and has totally transformed my game. Gone from a 14 to a 9. Biggest difference has been wit my wedges and chipping round the green. Has made my contact and accuracy super consistent where im consistently chipping to within 5 ft. Also kept same concept with my putter and seems to be such a more consistent strike off face everytime. Amazing how such a little tip can transform your game, but thats golf in a nutshell

    This explains exactly what I´ve been doing for last 2 weeks. For some reason I got thought to my iron swings "What if I try to feel like I keep hands lower through out my swing?..." Well the rest is "history" =). I hit pure irons, can easily shape ball left and right, high and low. Now I just made search in TH-cam about "keeping hands low in golf swing" and found this video. This explains everything! I have had bad tendency for whole summer to hit thin shots but now with "hands low" idea everything is pure.

    Exactly what I needed. I was a club pro back in the 1900's. I left golf for about 20 years and am just getting back. I felt like I did a lot of things right, but needed to take a series of lessons to actually start doing things right. My old duffer days habits had found me. The one thing we had not been able to fix is the fact that my clubs (3 degrees upright over my old set of ping blue dots 1 degree up) had an elusive sweet spot. We tried all kinds of things and watched all the video and pressure plate stuff but I hit everything at 20 mm to the toe, even with overly upright clubs. I could line the ball up with the hosel and still hit the toe. I was thinking shaft droop and started to have doubts about my new Titleist T200s. Not good!! I went to a club fitter and we spent 90 minutes in the fitting bay, but within the first 5 minutes he said I raise my hands through impact. He could just see it. We worked on some drills and sure enough, I started getting within a few mm of the center of the club face. Your video just cements that whole thing and I will use your drills to groove this in. Would you recommend the same thing for fairway woods and drivers, or is the dynamic a little different? I'm struggling with them too but do not want to create new issues. Keep up the great work sir!

      Welcome back to this crazy game!! A part of what you must do is allow your body to move freely.. some tweaks can help a lot without sacrificing strikes or distance.
      I’m glad the lesson resonated with you and helped affirm what the chap saw in the fitting !
      I do think you can do it for woods too. Sweeping is great 👍

    I searched for this vid as had seen it before and i needed to affirm that i should be keeping my hands lower.
    Ive been trying to improve my ball contact and turn but struggled. I could feel myself casting but still topping the ball, and here you clarify why.....in fact i recently started topping on the heel end of irons so i knew something was wrong.
    Thanks again.

    This low hands drill is absolutely fantastic. I am a five handicap that struggles with solid iron contact and I am saved by my driver and short game. I normally hit about 6 greens per round in regulation and my up and down percentage is about 80%. I went to the range yesterday, threw an alignment stick in the dirt and five swings later I could feel a high hands impact vs. a low hands impact.

    I tried this and it really helps with my tendency to lift up in the downswing, leading to thin shots and a sore back! this feels good and is easy to do. focusing on pushing down is easier than trying to keep the right posture, which happens more automatically. once i push down I can still fire the hips for more power. I am not sure this is right for everyone, but certainly for me! Thank you!

    This thought has really helped me a lot... one other thing in combination that has helped too... feeling that the hands are close to the knees AND low.. almost like they are swinging under the knees and the arms will hit the knees. The body just moves out of the way naturally and the body also naturally stays in posture. I don't know why but less effort also seems to send the ball further.

    That's a great tip I'll need to incorporate into my practice session and see if that helps my striking. In both what he was doing and even in your demo of keeping the hands low, if my hands get that close to the ball with the clubhead where you have it, it's a shank for sure as I have really slow hands it seems and no way can I get the club squared that fast. I've got work on that for sure. Thanks for the tip.

    Really like the way you explain things! after 9 months of building my swing from ground up and getting rid of massive early extension I am still struggling with my hands moving away from me and steepening the shaft angle on the way down creating very consistent toe down strikes. As a result I'm striking it poorly, loosing a lot of distance and hitting weird shots (draws out the heel) as i try and save or engineer the shot with my hands. I am trying to keep my hands lower on the downswing and through impact to create a more solid path and strike pattern. Its really hard undoing it! I'm hoping this drill will help, with the feel, thank you!

    "Getting" this was a key factor in getting down from 11hcp to 4. As well as the palms down dill Key for me was learning how to load the right arm in sequence hand /elbow/arm/shoulder leading to "waiters tray" and palm away "hand off" on downswing. Get this and you may feel you are petting a dog (a small one!) through impact or you are swinging a paint brush! and painting a line or if you really get it and are dynamic, striking a match.

    • @TheArtofSimpleGolf
      @TheArtofSimpleGolf  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Like the pet the dog to the match analogy! I think maybe the late John jacobs used those. Might be wrong though.
      But yep, even in the lesson I mention, the results were instant and a few weeks after, they are still there. It can help a great deal of golfers... and the best thing?... it’s simple :)

    I get my game to a point where I’m hitting my 7 190 yards. I can get my 3 wood 260. I can get my 4 iron 230 etc.. but then, all of a sudden, out of nowhere. My 7 iron starts going 150 in the air. I start pushing everything right. My effortless draw just disappears. Everything gets more spinny. I start losing my piercing ball flight. This happened to me last year and lasted like 10 months. When I got my game back and things clicked again, and I starting striking the ball correctly, I almost started crying because I had thought I lost it forever. It happened when I started lifting weights and I got stiff. I started lifting weights again after a long break a couple weeks ago. My game is once again in shambles. Please GOD (and any human being that could help me) do not let me go through this again. Golf is the only game, where you can figure out how to remedy something, and then you forget how to remedy it a year later. I improve and improve and improve to where I shoot close to par every year, then I lose it all. It’s about enough to want to quit sometimes.

      And you need to focus more on reacting to your target not about making a swing.

    • @TheArtofSimpleGolf
      @TheArtofSimpleGolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Could well be too much internal rotation with right arm… feel the right arm (after you get to hip height) externally rotate. We have a drill recently on no getting cramped. Right arm fold

      @TheArtofSimpleGolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a feel that works but it’s hard to do that and strike swing through and make it about a target too

    Will making this "hands lower" swing potentially necessitate a change in your irons' lie angle, Alex?

    • @TheArtofSimpleGolf
      @TheArtofSimpleGolf  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No it shouldn’t. Not really anyway. If it does, it’s not the worst problem to have. But if required, you prob overdoing it and stooping through impact

    • @TheArtofSimpleGolf
      @TheArtofSimpleGolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes... but You still must have a shift to lead side and if the movement is going through. You can’t just push down. It’s brushing and then posting up on the lead leg.
