      Ive grown up bailing hay and helping row crop farmers in Ohio i also worked on a hog farm and i felt bad for a few pigs cause the farm manager didnt care. But ive always felt i had a little cowboy in me but i here rodeo idiots say you aint a cowboy if you cant rope and ride but ive never had that chance however im a welder and i chase the work like a cowboy. So what do you think about that?

    So many are commenting that this cow should retire and move to his place without seeing how much these wonderful farmers are doing for this cow and for her to keep going. I have nothing but respect for these farmers, not that many would go this far for their cattle. Im luck to work for people who are much like these farmers, they do what ever they can for their animals no matter what it costs.

      Neither did I! I think Gracie's long life is a testament to the farmer's good husbandry. When she became sick, he worked with the Vet and Graeme (especially) to make her comfortable and return her to good health.
      In a previous video, Graeme emphasized that, out of 300 some cattle, Gracie was the only one with true "problems". We can see the expensive investment in infrastructure at the farm, obviously these cattle are very valuable & well cared for and kindly treated.
      The herd is providing portions of livelihood to locals like Graeme & Craig, as well as the farm family and workers. Plus their delicious, nutritional milk! They deserve to be well treated and I am thankful for the good owners and for Graeme!

    • @pinkcupcake4717
      @pinkcupcake4717 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      One of the farms Graeme's worked with (Tom Pemberton in specific) has one cow who was 15, had given birth to 11 calves in her lifetime. Old girl, but still healthy and having healthy babies. Tom mentioned he intentionally was breeding her so his herd would be longer lived instead of cycling through every few years.

    I have a cat named Hardy-Gracie. She was bone with a cleft palate and a suffered an injury sometime later that fused her jaw. She has issues with her teeth - a very small jaw with adult-sized sharp teeth - which have injured her tongue, plus the teeth are decaying because food stays lodged between them.
    Long story short, when I see your Gracie, I think of my little gray cat and compare how much they both have gone through but are still here. I give credit for Hardy's success to my wonderful country vet who never gives up, even when the "specialist" vets wouldn't touch Hardy. And Gracie there has you, watching over her hooves and giving her the best life she can. It's professionals like you and him, inventive and caring and intelligent and compassionate, who make the difference, both in cows and cats. The world is a better place because of you.

    I’m always amazed by how high the pain tolerance is in cows. My horse had the tiniest of abces in her hoof and she was acting like she broke her leg and refused to put any weight on it. I can’t believe these cows are still walking with these huge abscesses or half their hoof missing.

    There’s a product you can use on horses with compromised hooves called formahoof which they use to create an artificial hoof around damaged ones. Maybe look into that and create a mold of a health hoof in her size?

    I love these videos. I feel like when people say how much they hate the meat/dairy industry they picture every farm to be a factory farm that cares more about money than the animals. This channel shows that there are still good farms that take such good care of the animals. Consuming/producing meat and dairy doesn't automatically equal cruelty. It's really only industrialized farms that do that

    What a sweet girl Gracie is! She's loving her head rub! Well done to the farmer for getting her treated rather than dispatching her as she's so close to the end of her working life. I suppose being in calf buys her some more time. Nice to watch how professional and caring you are too. Also whilst your commentary is great, I would love you to explain a bit more of why you do some things. Why you cut out bruises for example.
