God that thumbnail is satisfying, reminds me of some of the original concept art. What a well shot, well edited, entertaining, and informative breakdown. It seems impossible for people not to get completely lost on their first day there😂. The tourism board of Man might just take this as your job application, and for good reason. Let’s hope we can all make the “pilgrimage” out there someday, thanks for the fantastic vid
The fact that so many of the locations are recognisable 25 years later does shock me slightly, and I would never have guessed Burnett was a beach boy! Fine work, I may make the trip myself eventually.
this footage is incredibly beautiful! the first six years of my life consisted of watching this movie over and over, annoying the hell out of my parents and sister. one day i hope to move to the UK and to visit these locations
im also incredibly grateful for the kmz file! i spend a lot of my spare time making maps of places i want to visit, and i have one dedicated to the UK historic railroads i want to see. thank you so much!
this was amazing, honestly your best video ever. The way you lined up the shots so perfectly was pretty insane, and the amount of effort you went just to find these places was insane. Me and some mates were planning to go to the Isle of Man in 2024, so this google earth map will be a HUGE help, thanks Luke!
Aw thanks Adam! This is exactly the kind of thing I was hoping the map would be used for. Hope you guys have fun and be sure to let me know how your trip goes!
I strive to have the amount of dedication to anything that you had in finding all these spots. You completed a lifelong goal, and fulfilling dreams is one of the things that makes life worth living. Much respect.
Never even knew that the movie I watched wayyyy too much of when I was little was filmed in the Isle of Man! I only actually knew about the island as I love the motorcycle race. You learn new things every day.
If you want a little insight into the old sites on Dalby mountain, the National Libraries of Scotland have a map service that's really easy to use, it enables you to see those quarry buildings (Burnett's workshop) marked. Looks like a quarryman's workshop or quarryman's housing. There are some medieval ruins nearby too, a really interesting place.
This is stunning! Magic Railroad has been a huge part of my childhood and seeing all of the locations including the ones from the deleted scenes is so amazing. No matter how remote some of these locations are seeing them is honestly breathtaking. Fantastic video and have a Happy New Year!
What a great video! Your filmmaking professionalism really shines through and it's fascinating seeing all of these locations well after the shoot, as well as your other findings. I'm honoured to be a (very small) part of this! :p
I swear, I want to do this but with the 1969 film “Hello, Dolly!” Known for being in “Wall-E” and featuring Pennsylvania 1223, which coincidentally, is on display right across the street from the Strasburg railroad, and the scene 1223 appears in is the main titles and the “Put on your Sunday Clothes” scene, which also coincidentally, is a scene we see in “Wall-E” many times.
Wow, this is a FANTASTIC video! I specifically appreciate you showcasing other locations that weren't featured in the film but still held significance to Isle of Man. I had no idea they had a rail museum! Such an incredible effort, and kudos to you making the map available so other people can find the locations and visit them too! Also loved the investigative work on finding the locations, especially on the last boomer one...... so, when's part 2? XD
My dad briefly lived on the isle of mann and when my family visited my family stayed in his flat in Ballasalla. I had no idea the station we used and visited was a filming location for magic railroad.
The moment i saw SRC 475 appear in TATMR i was shocked, i've been a fan of the Strasburg Railroad for a good 3-4 years now and i know a thing or two, but to see them using SRC 475, was astonishing, i've never been to Strasburg but i hope someday i get to
Wow. Wow. this is amazing. I never thought I’d actually get to see the the locations of where the crew of T&TMR filmed. But now here’s this. Thanks for showing us what the locations look like today. I’d actually like to visit Isle of Man one day. I love this. You have earned a new sub.
Wow, this is so awesome to see! I know a lot of people within the fandom really dislike TATMRR, but I enjoy the movie quite a lot because it brings back many memories of my early childhood. I remember constantly borrowing it from the DVD 2000 stores around Canberra (god I feel old now) before my mother got so fed up with going back and forth that my grandfather made a copy of the disc for me.. just to annoy my mother even more lol Despite how hated it is, it's a film that will always hold a very special place in my heart, there's something about it that brings me back to the more simpler times. Back to your video though, perhaps Burnett's house is used as a sort of Holiday home or it's rented out to visitors? It doesn't seem abandoned and looks to be maintained quite well, especially considering how close it is to the seaside.
This was an AMAZING video! The way you've laid out the footages are inspiring. This makes me want to visit the Isle of Mann and see it for myself. In fact, I'll make it a goal! Thank you for the inspiration!
I loved this video. I’m so glad you were able to share that with your family! After watching, it makes me want to get back into making Thomas videos. You did a great job👏🏻 I am going to the Uk and the Isle of Man next spring, that google earth file is going to come in clutch😭 Thank you for taking the time to make it!
That is amazing. I’ve been meaning to go there too. But can’t believe the quarry stone tunnels on the Dalby Mountain is gone. I thought it was still there. It’s gone all of it. But still quite an incredible film you made there.
that was so cool. i'll definitely have to make a trip to the isle of man one day! it seems so quaint and peaceful. i'd love to do a photoshoot on dalby mountain.
Great video and 7:04 the map of Sodor at Castletown station belongs to my dad and I and we live on the Isle of Man and are big fans of Thomas the tank engine we loaned it to the railway after we had it on our model railway layout featuring Thomas and his friends as part of the 150th anniversary celebrations of the railway back in July 2023 thanks for sharing this video showing some of the locations featured in the Thomas and the magic railroad film in both the Isle of Man and of the Stratsburg railroad in The USA glad you enjoyed your visit and happy new year 🎆🎊 to you too 👍💙🚂🇮🇲
After watching both yours and Jacob and Wylies location videos and rewatching shining time station I started having a fantasy about a soap drama set in the rural and urban areas of shining time and muffle mountain during the course of the 1970s. Seems like a decent idea for a show in the thomas community but in another way it just seems like one of those things that wasn't meant to be, but that's just what I think, if anyone has any opinions about this idea feel free to comment and I'll tell you the storyline I had in mind.
Did someone actually try to race across the crossing as N&W 475 was approaching at 24:51? Sheesh! You'd think people would finally get the message about racing across railroad crossings as a train's approaching by now!
The Isle of Man is such a beautiful place. I wonder why the crew for TATMR went all the way there to Britain to film scenes that take place in America especially considering it is right next to the irl location of the island of Sodor. It makes me wish that they would've used Isle of man to film scenes that take place on Sodor. That is definitely something that I wish could happen and maybe one day it will...
Thank you! It's a cover of The Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks song "The Spirit Flute" by The Noble Demon. I'll update the description soon with a full track list :)
I think it may be the pine trees, but as a kid I always thought this film wasmade in America. I'm from the UK and have visited the ISle a few times and never made the correlation. Also I may have thought it was in America is because the city scenes were American, the main station was America and the loco was American, so I can see how I'd not make the correlation.
Thomas because I feel like the movie Thomas and the Magic Railroad definitely was distancing himself/ itself from the Thomas and friends TV show, and it had a little more magic to the movie and was a little more magical, and had a little more spark to do it because and had a little more spark to it, because of the magic 🪄 railroad 🛤️ 🚞 🚆 , 🪄🛤️ 🚞 🚆 and what the magic 🪄 rail Road 🚆🚞🛤️ , 🪄🛤️ 🚞 🚆 turned out to be and what it was for Thomas, the tank, engine, and Thomas and friends, because it was such a magical journey for them and so magical for them and it definitely captured the heart and magic of Thomas and friends 1984 and The heart magic of shining time station 🚉 and what shining time station originally was and the essence of what Thomas and friends started out to be shining time station original Thomas and friends, TV show and captured a lot of the magic of shining time station and captured the heart of the 1994 Thomas and friends TV show and the characters and how well grounded . The characters were. In the 1994 Thomas and friends, TV show and heart and magic of that show as well and 94 for the Thomas and friends 1994 TV show. Oh gosh, I'm so sorry if it's not working. I checked the link and the download and they both seem fine, but that could just be me. Have you tried downloading it? Sometimes Google Drive doesn't display a preview online, so that might be the issue. Not sure if it makes a difference, but I typically use Google Earth on my computer too. Let me know if anything changes!

I am in full agreement. I am only in the first two minutes of the video and it's so nice thusfar. Feels rather homey to be honest.
Encouraging to know the Isle of Man is a real place! Can't say the same about the Isle of Sodor, unless...
The fact that so many of the locations are recognisable 25 years later does shock me slightly, and I would never have guessed Burnett was a beach boy! Fine work, I may make the trip myself eventually.
The fact that magic railroad turns 25 years old next year is making me feel old as hell, plus polar express turned 20 this year
The shed at 2:51 looks like the one Duke slept in for years after his old line closed down.
Should've also thanked the Isle of Man fairies in the credits lol.
Jeez the Isle of Man is such a beautiful place, feels pretty nostalgic just by itself X3

@@LeadPaintCrisis I will thanks Luke!
I will never see Burnett Stone the same way after he showed the image of Burnett, when he said "like cmon he is a bronze beach babe!"
We will never forget what you said
as a PA native, i’ve been to strasburg numerous times but i hope to visit the isle of man someday in the future
Great video man, glad our visit in 2018 was of some use to you! Definitely somewhere that all Thomas fans should visit for a good getaway!
Your video helped me out sooooo much when I was making this. Really glad you enjoyed it!
I strive to have the amount of dedication to anything that you had in finding all these spots. You completed a lifelong goal, and fulfilling dreams is one of the things that makes life worth living. Much respect.

It was a pleasure seeing you at the Awdry Extravaganza! Thanks for telling us about the engines lol
This is stunning! Magic Railroad has been a huge part of my childhood and seeing all of the locations including the ones from the deleted scenes is so amazing. No matter how remote some of these locations are seeing them is honestly breathtaking. Fantastic video and have a Happy New Year!
Poor 475 , atleast she still stands strong , i learned that if the excavator went a bit further down the engine it could have had a boiler explosion
The nostalgia in this video brought me to tears 🥺🥺
Thank you for filming ❤ 🙏
You actually made me jump at 24:50.
this is an awesome video! the piklopedia music caught me off guard in the best way lol
What a great vid! Top tier
The South Simcoe Railway in Tottenham Ontario was used for filming Shining Time Station.
Even if it’s likely down to nostalgia, I still have fond memories of Thomas & The Magic Railroad.
What a great video! Your filmmaking professionalism really shines through and it's fascinating seeing all of these locations well after the shoot, as well as your other findings.

It’s like I lived out a childhood dream through this video. Thank you.
I have loved this movie forever, this is so cool to see... I always thought it was filmed in Pennsylvania..it means allot that you made this video❤
The moment i saw SRC 475 appear in TATMR i was shocked, i've been a fan of the Strasburg Railroad for a good 3-4 years now and i know a thing or two, but to see them using SRC 475, was astonishing, i've never been to Strasburg but i hope someday i get to
Thanks for making me feel older than I already am.
This was such a fun video!! As a TATMR defender forever and always, this is would be such a dream!
Well that was a video I didn't know I needed.
Wow. Wow. this is amazing. I never thought I’d actually get to see the the locations of where the crew of T&TMR filmed. But now here’s this. Thanks for showing us what the locations look like today. I’d actually like to visit Isle of Man one day. I love this. You have earned a new sub.

Great video! Thoroughly Enjoyed
neat
i went to the isle of man over the summer it’s really cool to go there if you’re a thomas fan
17:56 Love the Zelda Spirit Tracks music. Very fitting
Thank you! I'm glad you noticed! I'll get around to updating the description with a full track list at some point soon.
I was looking for this comment
Ever since I watched this video, it made me want to visit The Isle of Man so bad.
I loved this video. I’m so glad you were able to share that with your family! After watching, it makes me want to get back into making Thomas videos. You did a great job👏🏻
I am going to the Uk and the Isle of Man next spring, that google earth file is going to come in clutch😭 Thank you for taking the time to make it!
Im from Pennsylvania and some of the sceens in there took place in Harrisburg PA which is about a half an hour away, maybe even an hour too
My childhood has been rediscovered thanks man you just earned a new subscriber
Great video! It’s awesome that someone actually tried to find these locations! Good job! ❤👍
Wonderful video Luke! Extremely informative and very charming!
14:18 ok is that Larry’s Lego I hear?? Also the sarcasm form his voice lol
Man that's cool to see alot of the stuff is still there
Veery cool!
This was quite enjoyable, thank you! I'm sure I'll use your map someday!
it's so surreal seeing these locations still almost the same as they were in magic railroad
That is amazing. I’ve been meaning to go there too. But can’t believe the quarry stone tunnels on the Dalby Mountain is gone. I thought it was still there. It’s gone all of it. But still quite an incredible film you made there.
I was in the Isle of Man in 2022 and it gave me a lot of inspiration for how Sodor would look in real life.
that was so cool. i'll definitely have to make a trip to the isle of man one day! it seems so quaint and peaceful. i'd love to do a photoshoot on dalby mountain.
2:50 guys, I think we found Duke’s shed

No kidding! Once I saw it I just knew I had to get a shot of it. I'm just amazed your map managed to find a way back to you though haha
What a wonderful trip, happy new year 🥳

Seeing that it was filmed on the Isle of Mann makes it feel so much weirder that all the humans bar Junior were American
this is awesome!
Did someone actually try to race across the crossing as N&W 475 was approaching at 24:51? Sheesh! You'd think people would finally get the message about racing across railroad crossings as a train's approaching by now!
You know, considering being to the strasburg railroad and living a county over from Lancaster County, i never notice the 9 3/4 platform.
7:57 The Tiny Station? I've always called it Glennock.
Very interesting video! I still like the movie despite its major flaws.
Amazing video
*knock knock knock* Burnette: just lave me alone
Me:Well dang burnette i was gonns give you a letter but nvm
I did not know that TatMR, which mostly takes place on an island, was filmed on an actual island.

Hey whats the song that plays durings the fairy bridge display montage? 👀 It sounds very peaceful and great video

@@LeadPaintCrisis Dude! I knew it was giving off Zelda vibes 😎

When can you visit the island of sodor (that place next to the isle of men, also can you take this as a request to do in a new vid?)
22:38
Sounds like 475 caused
Confusion and delay 😜😂🤣

Been thinking about rewatching this movie after like 15 years. Should I?
Yes
I love the movie too
How did they film 475 at the station when it’s like narrow gauge?
How dare you not thank the fairies in your credits!
This is an amazing video. What camera did you use?
16:14 16:16 Last one is at Glen Auldyn Field Big bushes trees a leg tree in the middle of the field in the shadow.
14:18 HeLlO iM tHoMaS aNd I’m ReAlLy HeEeEere.
Such a cool video! Would love to visit on day but it is much too expensive 😂
I have a quick question if they use that station as shining time how the hell did they get a full-size American locomotive on it
Nice video is been a long time that I watched tatmr
I saw Thomas and the Magic Railroad 2000, at Harlow Town Cinema.
My realization when I found out 475 was the one who had that... Incident, with an excavator: 😮
Nice
wait a minute Sodor is 3x the size of Isle of Man

13:48 those appear to be some kind of furnace, probably coke?
I had to do a double take at the Polar Express reference
