Something to keep in mind when watching this show: Monty Oum Animated the first 2 Seasons basically by himself, he had help with Writing and Directing but soloed Animation. Nowadays Rooster Teeth has their own Animation Department and between 50-100 people work on RWBY.

"All pairings are ships" So true. I've memorized a few ship names of characters that I don't think ever even met, just because they're so funny and creative (especially compared to most other fandoms where they just kinda slam the characters' names together).
Jaune is the most precious of beans and he is, hands down, my favorite in the whole series. I have never related more to a fictional character than him.
I have to admit I never got that, don't now I just find hi boring, any time he's center stage, in the story or in fan works, I just immediately lose interest, not sure why I just do.
@@nahte123456 While I can kind of relate to you when it comes to the main story - Jaunedice is easily the most boring part of RWBY up until Volume 5 - the fanworks about Jaune are often really awesome. Professor Arc comes to mind immediately.
Like I said I'm not even sure why, but the moment Jaune becomes the MC I lose all interest. I tried Professor Arc and a few others, nope the same story with any other member of RWBY or JNPR as the MC I'd like, becomes immediately boring to me wen Jaune is the MC. I don't even mind when he's a central supporting character or love interest, like "Infighting, Insanity, and Social Ineptitude" Jaune is a very important character, but there are other MC's so that's OK. But Professor Arc and the like, immediately lose interest.
If I may. It would be more interesting if you had the episode playing in a small corner window. Many of us watching have seen the show before so we are here for you, but being able to have both videos on screen would allow me to be more engaged in your video’s.
Weiss would definitely have an an Alolan Vulpix in my opinion. Ice? Check. Grace? Check. Color scheme? Check. Different from others of their kind? Check!

Yeah, she really needs to get someone familiar with the series to screen the comments for her, weed out any spoilers before she sees it. It's something I've seen other reactors do, have a friend run through the comment section ahead of time and pick a few dozen of the best comments cleared of any spoilers.
The RWBY manga you have is one of the anthologies. Its one of the fanmade story collections, which are not canon to the main story. Theres one for each of the girls. But there is a RWBY manga that is canon and fills in blanks within the first 3 volumes of RWBY. And im so excited to see you keep reacting to RWBY. Little advice here, be aware of Yang's puns. Of Blake's love for "adult" litetature. Of Weiss's salty personality. And of Ruby's awkwardness. I don't known nothing about Pokemon. Let's see, Blake is a Umbreon, Yang is a Charizard, Weiss is a Glacion and Ruby is a Pikachu.
I see Weiss as an Alolan Ninetales, Ruby as a normal, fairy, grass or flying type. Blake can be a Weavile but also fits really well with Umbreon. Yang a Magmar or Blaziken.
Blake: Absol, this is due more to the lore behind Absol than it's stats, plus the scythe blade on it's head kinda looks like her sword Yang: Blaziken, the original Fire/Fighting starter and like Yang Speed Boost Blaziken just gets stronger the longer a fight lasts Weiss: Glaceon, Ice-type, cute and graceful, but tougher than it looks Ruby: Staravia, fast and strong, but hasn't quite evolved into the blindingly fast powerhouse we know she will be
Ep 2:Say Hello to the boy himself Jaune Arc (Also can confirm he’s a bean 😇) Ep 3:This episode honestly made Ruby one of my favorite main characters in anything she has such as sweet and optimistic outlook to life just want to do good just cause she can even while knowing her world isn’t a fairy tale...... For the Mangas, I'd recommend waiting until after you finish Volume 3. So far, I haven't seen anything in the Mangas that spoil anything past Volume 3.
Actually, I think maybe Vol.2 for Red Like Roses, Vol.4 for Mirror Mirror, and I'm not sure about the other two since I haven't read them yet (I'm a broke otaku)
Glad you're getting really into the series so far! And don't worry, the episodes will get longer especially in Volume 2 where they will average from 12-15mins, and then around 20mins in later volumes. I would also reccomend watching The World of Remnant series on the side (or in videos if you want) to get a more in-depth understanding of the world that they created for RWBY. But it is all completely optional and in no way required to enjoy the main series, just if you want more info on the world. And yes, Jaune is a precious bean, and if you like him now, you're going to absolutely love him later in the series :)
I suggest to friends that they even watch the season 2 extras/world building before watching season 1. they spoil no story or characters and give you a better idea of what is going on

I love that no matter how small and un-action packed these episodes are, you are excited and ready to dive into the chars and finding reason and bonding to them, its such a breath of fresh air.
I love the character development in this story. Weiss was my favorite starting from the trailer. First time I saw it I really listened to what she was singing and it made me tear up. I've been there. I've felt that loneliness. So when the show started I understood why she acted the way she did. She just needs a long friendly hug.

Speaking of games and lore, there is a RWBY game on steam called RWBY Grimm Eclipse. It is a Canon game that happens after season 2. After season 2, play it for more lore.
Your thoughts on Blake really hit me because I have a similar personality to Volume 1 Blake (in the first few episodes). Quiet, likes to be alone, stuff like that. I never had a lot of friends, so whenever somebody asks me about the stuff I'm into, it makes me so happy and I love to open up to them about said subject. So when you said Blake's eyes kind of sparkled or lit up, I felt like I could relate to that on a personal level.
Miscat. In regard to the manga, there's actually three different manga. There's a one-volume manga book, then the anthology series (that volume you have is the first of those), then a new series that just started. There's a side series called World of Remnant, a sort of codex series that gives more world building detail, that i'd start watching with Volume 2 (the RWBY Wiki has a list of all episodes and what volumes they came out with, as they span Volumes 2-4, if you can avoid the spoilers). Also, there's a spin off slice of life sketch cartoon called RWBY Chibi, which is non-canon, but you shouldn't watch until after Volume 3 of the main series, because it does contain spoilers. Also also, there's a few games. There's Grimm Eclipse, which is canon and the story of which takes place between Volumes 2 and 3, and Amity Arena, which isn't really canon. RWBY characters also appear in a fighting game called BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle. There's so much stuff I could mention here, and even the stuff i've mentioned here probably isn't explained properly, but i'm sure you'll get around to it all eventually. The 'Don't watch Chibi until after Volume 3/Watch the seasons of Chibi & World of Remnant in relation to when they aired with the main show' is the main one i'd say you should stick to. :D EDIT: Also, yeah. After the first volume, the silhouettes thing goes away because they had a bigger budget.
I still find this so weird, I loved her since that scene in front of the school, she was a typical High class tsundere xD but oh well, I've always had a soft spot for spoiled girls xD
I've noticed that you talk a lot over the episode, and some world building is done by characters who talk quite fast or in small comments that can be easy to miss. I suggest either turning on subtitles or re-watching episodes to make sure you catch everything - I know there are some details I missed until multiple repeat viewings. Also, Rooster Teeth allow entire episodes to be uploaded in reactions so you don't need to cut parts out, just put the video in one corner of the screen and you won't have to keep cutting between the two. Otherwise, great reaction, I'm looking forward to going through this with you :)
I’d say try to pay extra attention in lessons since it’s when the characters will be learning new stuff so they can get in some exposition easily, even just in the background
@@KaitheKnightly Still, the cutting back and forth between a face and a video is very jarring and distracting. I understand it's the style of editing for a particular taste and I can't say it clicks with me, it's just annoying, especially when the cut happens literally in the middle of a dialogue line.

Very cogent observation about Blake's dialogue being a clue to how things won't be nice-neat-sweet and tied up in a bow. I never thought of that before, but you're right. Blake's comment was a warning to buckle up, 'cause it's gonna be a bumpy ride.
The silhouette characters in the background of this Vol was mainly due to the limitations of Poser which they used to animate and the size of the animation team. As the Rooster Teeth animation department grew and they upgraded the software they were able to create more interactive environments and backgrounds.
I could see Ruby either having a Bulbasaur or a Roselia because of the Rose motif that she seems to have. For Yang I could definitely see her maining a Charizard because of her affinity with fire like her flaming hair and her last name, Xiao Long, translates to Sunny Little Dragon. For Weiss, she could probably own a multitude of Ice Types, like Articuno for example. For Blake I could see her owning Umbreon because of her personality, I could see her as a Dark Pokemon user. I love your energy and all, but as a fair warning, RWBY is a show that can have a lot of meaning in the slightest bits of conversation, from actual plot related stuff to foreshadowing to references about what they are based on (like the fact that all students from "Signal" forge their own weapons, not just Ruby and Jaune is the exception to the norm compared to her). Some "fans" tend to get angry at reactors for missing stuff, and while i personally do find that stupid, imo in shows like this you should talk between conversations. Just a tip; you do you; i still like it.
I just saw this video on my recommended. And i gotta say ive never suscribed to anything so fast😂. I love the energy you bring to the video and its like a great mix of interaction with the viewers without taking away from the video. Keep up the great work.
You've only just started the series, but watching the first few episodes again reminds me of just how much was foreshadowed. Once you're caught up I highly recommend watching it again, the stuff you'll notice on the second or even third go through is pretty amazing. Trailers included. I won't spoil anything, but a good time to run through the trailers again would be after you reach season 4's end. Or maybe even season five. Eh, they're short so you could probably just do both. I used to marathon the whole series with a friend whenever a season finished and we'd just spend a weekend on that. The time spent was worth it. Also, Nora, who you'll meet soon, would have pikachu. Not sure about anyone else though.
You can learn a lot about Weiss' character already if you just go back and pay attention to the lyrics in the White Trailer. It gives you an early indication on her backstory that you're meant to have. I mean, it's obvious from the very first scene that there's more to her character when you pay attention that she has all this money, yet she's going to school for an extremely dangerous profession instead.
If it has not been mentioned yet then I must provide some helpful information. RWBY (by design) highly focuses on symbolism and foreshadowing (not just for the sake of the plot, but for everything about the show). Anything and everything in RWBY (right down to the background/end-credit music) provides foreshadowing to future episodes, characters, character backstories, lore, ect. I know that other episodic shows use these methods, but RWBY completely changes the understanding of said methods; hence why this show is so famous. Also, the episodes may be short, but as you progress, they do become longer. With seasons 5-6, RWBY episodes as about 20+ minutes in run time. And as you progress, not only does the run-time become longer, the entire show itself grows and improves; basically, as the show grows, so does the viewer.
One of the things that always amazes me about this episode is how much the characters blink in the conversation between Blake and Ruby. Animated characters rarely blink randomly but people in real life do all the time. It’s the only scene I really notice this.

Something you should know: When you reach the last episode of a volume, make sure to keep watching after the credits (or skip them if you prefer, they're pretty long in the final episodes, and contain songs you might not want to be spoiled on if you plan doing song reactions). There's always an extra scene at the very end, which is usually kinda important. Might be a bit early to tell you this, but just in case.

The RWBY Manga takes place during Volume 2 primarily with a few flashbacks to 1, at least the first one is i have yet to get my hands on Mirror Mirror or From Shadows yet.

What I love most about RWBY is that, at its heart, it is a character driven story. Sure, there is a plot but I feel like the biggest strength of this series is the characters. Also the music is just amazing. It kinda reminds me of Kingdom Hearts, the music just makes already good moments in the series even better and more memorable to the point where whenever I listen to the song, I always think about when it played in the series and who it's about. RWBY is just great man.

The shadow people in the background was more so the byproduct of the supremely low budget volume 1 had at the time rather than design choice. It doesn't last unfortunately :/ but I can certainly say that background characters and people have had some cool designs too at least :)

Also something to look out for, RWBY is pretty good at making you think one thing about a character, but in reality it's a little different, subverting expectations of characters and the plot. Can't wait to see you get to know these characters! Also, i would recommend you reacting to the soundtracks of each volume once you finish the volume, because you learn a lot about the development and emotions of the characters from listening to the lyrics of the songs. Even if you don't react to the soundtracks, please listen to them and pay attention to the lyrics. Plus the music is really good!
A thing to note - Ruby is not the only one to have build her own weapon. At the very least the same is true for Yang as she also attended Signal academy and as Ruby mentioned all students there forge their own weapons. Given her background Blake at least modified hers if not build it from the ground up. There are other characters that likely built their own weapons or at least heavily modified some basic model but naming them would be spoilery.

Keep in mind this first volume of RWBY that several of the episodes are part 1 or part 2 and those you might want to react to part 1&2 in the same video . One because of the actual short run times and second that you will get so hyped that they ended that in the middle of a discussion or action sequence . By the way your RWBY reactions are great !! I got the voice actors of Ruby, Weiss, Blake, Yang, and one other character you'll see much later in the series, to autograph a poster of the Eeveelutions. Yang signed Flareon, Ruby signed Jolteon, Blake signed Umberon, Weiss signed Glaceon, and the last one signed Eevee. (I'm not saying that character's name. No spoilers.)
You are sooo correct! It was NOT, JUST because of budget. There were other reasons for the silhouette background characters, and for the length of the episodes. They were short largely because this was a webseries, and Rooster Teeth, ever since Red vs Blue, tried to keep their episodes short, because that works better on the internet. RWBY Volume 1 is more like a movie than a season of full length episodes, if you were to sit down and watch it in its entirety. Except it has tons of stuff happening in it, because something interesting had to happen in each episode, and they were so short. It is so, so nice to finally see someone else have a positive reaction to the silhouettes.
My fav is definitely and will likely always be Yang "Scathing eyes ask that we be symmetrical, one sided and easily processed. Yet every misshapen spark’s unseen beauty is greater than it’s would be judgment." - Yellow trailer lead-in quote is definitely something to keep in mind for her. Blake and Weiss are probably tied for secondary.
Glad to see you're really enjoying the show Here's my advice for any external media that I can remember off the top of my head: The soundtracks are indeed worth devoting reactions to in their own right, and the lyrics do provide interesting foreshadowing and characterization. -On a side note, there is a clean and explicit version of I Burn, chose at your own discretion) I'd recommend waiting to read the mangas until after Volume 3. The anthologies (like the one you showed) fill in details but don't retread much ground of what we see, and there's one for each of the main 4 (Yang's releases soon), and the majority of what's depicted is canon. There's also a 12 chapter Ultra Jump manga which does retread some ground while showing off some new stuff, as well as a monthly Shonen Jump serialization which just began, and an upcoming DC comic adaptation RWBY Chibi is the skit-based comedy spinoff series, with Season 1 following Volume 3, 2 after 4, and 3 after 5, and probably more following Volume 6 There's the Grimm Eclipse video game, which does have a canon story between Volumes 2 and 3. RWBY: Amity Arena is the free-to-play mobile game, which is in the same vein as games like Clash Royale As of this time, the main 4 also are guest characters in BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle, with possibly more characters on the way, if fighting games are your thing. There's also a novel coming out this summer, but I won't say anything about it for spoiler reasons, other than it follows Volume 3. Hope this helps, loving your reactions so far :)

Something to keep in mind when watching this show: Monty Oum Animated the first 2 Seasons basically by himself, he had help with Writing and Directing but soloed Animation. Nowadays Rooster Teeth has their own Animation Department and between 50-100 people work on RWBY.
He actually had help with his friend Shane in the first 2 Volumes. The only thing he Animated completely by himself was the Red Trailer.

Like I said I'm not even sure why, but the moment Jaune becomes the MC I lose all interest. I tried Professor Arc and a few others, nope the same story with any other member of RWBY or JNPR as the MC I'd like, becomes immediately boring to me wen Jaune is the MC. I don't even mind when he's a central supporting character or love interest, like "Infighting, Insanity, and Social Ineptitude" Jaune is a very important character, but there are other MC's so that's OK. But Professor Arc and the like, immediately lose interest.
If I may. It would be more interesting if you had the episode playing in a small corner window. Many of us watching have seen the show before so we are here for you, but being able to have both videos on screen would allow me to be more engaged in your video’s.
Weiss would definitely have an an Alolan Vulpix in my opinion.

The RWBY manga you have is one of the anthologies. Its one of the fanmade story collections, which are not canon to the main story. Theres one for each of the girls. But there is a RWBY manga that is canon and fills in blanks within the first 3 volumes of RWBY. And im so excited to see you keep reacting to RWBY. I see Weiss as an Alolan Ninetales, Ruby as a normal, fairy, grass or flying type. Blake can be a Weavile but also fits really well with Umbreon. Yang a Magmar or Blaziken.
Blake: Absol, this is due more to the lore behind Absol than it's stats, plus the scythe blade on it's head kinda looks like her sword
Yang: Blaziken, the original Fire/Fighting starter and like Yang Speed Boost Blaziken just gets stronger the longer a fight lasts
Weiss: Glaceon, Ice-type, cute and graceful, but tougher than it looks

Glad you're getting really into the series so far! And don't worry, the episodes will get longer especially in Volume 2 where they will average from 12-15mins, and then around 20mins in later volumes.
I would also reccomend watching The World of Remnant series on the side (or in videos if you want) to get a more in-depth understanding of the world that they created for RWBY.
But it is all completely optional and in no way required to enjoy the main series, just if you want more info on the world.
And yes, Jaune is a precious bean, and if you like him now, you're going to absolutely love him later in the series :)

I love that no matter how small and un-action packed these episodes are, you are excited and ready to dive into the chars and finding reason and bonding to them, its such a breath of fresh air.
I love the character development in this story. Weiss was my favorite starting from the trailer. First time I saw it I really listened to what she was singing and it made me tear up. I've been there. I've felt that loneliness. So when the show started I understood why she acted the way she did. She just needs a long friendly hug.

Your thoughts on Blake really hit me because I have a similar personality to Volume 1 Blake (in the first few episodes). Quiet, likes to be alone, stuff like that. I never had a lot of friends, so whenever somebody asks me about the stuff I'm into, it makes me so happy and I love to open up to them about said subject. So when you said Blake's eyes kind of sparkled or lit up, I felt like I could relate to that on a personal level.
Miscat. In regard to the manga, there's actually three different manga. There's a one-volume manga book, then the anthology series (that volume you have is the first of those), then a new series that just started.
There's a side series called World of Remnant, a sort of codex series that gives more world building detail, that i'd start watching with Volume 2 (the RWBY Wiki has a list of all episodes and what volumes they came out with, as they span Volumes 2-4, if you can avoid the spoilers).
Also, there's a spin off slice of life sketch cartoon called RWBY Chibi, which is non-canon, but you shouldn't watch until after Volume 3 of the main series, because it does contain spoilers.
Also also, there's a few games. There's Grimm Eclipse, which is canon and the story of which takes place between Volumes 2 and 3, and Amity Arena, which isn't really canon. RWBY characters also appear in a fighting game called BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle.
There's so much stuff I could mention here, and even the stuff i've mentioned here probably isn't explained properly, but i'm sure you'll get around to it all eventually. The 'Don't watch Chibi until after Volume 3/Watch the seasons of Chibi & World of Remnant in relation to when they aired with the main show' is the main one i'd say you should stick to. :D
EDIT: Also, yeah. After the first volume, the silhouettes thing goes away because they had a bigger budget.

I've noticed that you talk a lot over the episode, and some world building is done by characters who talk quite fast or in small comments that can be easy to miss. I suggest either turning on subtitles or re-watching episodes to make sure you catch everything - I know there are some details I missed until multiple repeat viewings. Also, Rooster Teeth allow entire episodes to be uploaded in reactions so you don't need to cut parts out, just put the video in one corner of the screen and you won't have to keep cutting between the two. Otherwise, great reaction, I'm looking forward to going through this with you :)

I’d say try to pay extra attention in lessons since it’s when the characters will be learning new stuff so they can get in some exposition easily, even just in the background

I understand it's the style of editing for a particular taste and I can't say it clicks with me, it's just annoying, especially when the cut happens literally in the middle of a dialogue line.

The silhouette characters in the background of this Vol was mainly due to the limitations of Poser which they used to animate and the size of the animation team. As the Rooster Teeth animation department grew and they upgraded the software they were able to create more interactive environments and backgrounds.
I could see Ruby either having a Bulbasaur or a Roselia because of the Rose motif that she seems to have. For Yang I could definitely see her maining a Charizard because of her affinity with fire like her flaming hair and her last name, Xiao Long, translates to Sunny Little Dragon. For Weiss, she could probably own a multitude of Ice Types, like Articuno for example. For Blake I could see her owning Umbreon because of her personality, I could see her as a Dark Pokemon user.

I love your energy and all, but as a fair warning, RWBY is a show that can have a lot of meaning in the slightest bits of conversation, from actual plot related stuff to foreshadowing to references about what they are based on (like the fact that all students from "Signal" forge their own weapons, not just Ruby and Jaune is the exception to the norm compared to her). Some "fans" tend to get angry at reactors for missing stuff, and while i personally do find that stupid, imo in shows like this you should talk between conversations.
Just a tip; you do you; i still like it.

You've only just started the series, but watching the first few episodes again reminds me of just how much was foreshadowed. Once you're caught up I highly recommend watching it again, the stuff you'll notice on the second or even third go through is pretty amazing. Trailers included. I won't spoil anything, but a good time to run through the trailers again would be after you reach season 4's end. Or maybe even season five. Eh, they're short so you could probably just do both.
I used to marathon the whole series with a friend whenever a season finished and we'd just spend a weekend on that. The time spent was worth it.
Also, Nora, who you'll meet soon, would have pikachu. Not sure about anyone else though.
You can learn a lot about Weiss' character already if you just go back and pay attention to the lyrics in the White Trailer. It gives you an early indication on her backstory that you're meant to have. I mean, it's obvious from the very first scene that there's more to her character when you pay attention that she has all this money, yet she's going to school for an extremely dangerous profession instead.
If it has not been mentioned yet then I must provide some helpful information. RWBY (by design) highly focuses on symbolism and foreshadowing (not just for the sake of the plot, but for everything about the show). Anything and everything in RWBY (right down to the background/end-credit music) provides foreshadowing to future episodes, characters, character backstories, lore, ect. I know that other episodic shows use these methods, but RWBY completely changes the understanding of said methods; hence why this show is so famous. Also, the episodes may be short, but as you progress, they do become longer. With seasons 5-6, RWBY episodes as about 20+ minutes in run time. And as you progress, not only does the run-time become longer, the entire show itself grows and improves; basically, as the show grows, so does the viewer.

One of the things that always amazes me about this episode is how much the characters blink in the conversation between Blake and Ruby. Animated characters rarely blink randomly but people in real life do all the time. It’s the only scene I really notice this.
Blake might have a Purrloin because of her aura color, and a certain spoiler. Also Purrloin is a dark type which fits Blake's theme song.

Something you should know: When you reach the last episode of a volume, make sure to keep watching after the credits (or skip them if you prefer, they're pretty long in the final episodes, and contain songs you might not want to be spoiled on if you plan doing song reactions). What I love most about RWBY is that, at its heart, it is a character driven story. Sure, there is a plot but I feel like the biggest strength of this series is the characters. Also the music is just amazing. It kinda reminds me of Kingdom Hearts, the music just makes already good moments in the series even better and more memorable to the point where whenever I listen to the song, I always think about when it played in the series and who it's about.

The shadow people in the background was more so the byproduct of the supremely low budget volume 1 had at the time rather than design choice. It doesn't last unfortunately :/ but I can certainly say that background characters and people have had some cool designs too at least :)

high key, Weiss has always been my favorite. Most people hate her because she's sassy and mean, however she was said to be a heiress of a huge company. But as a pro tip, most of her development happens in her songs because she does sing.

Kat can you not be so damn adorable, also i feel like Ruby would have grass types most likely ones with flowers, yang would have all of the Hitmon type pokemon, blake would have every cat EVER and weiss would probably be ice. Anyone love the content cant wait to see more ^_^
Also something to look out for, RWBY is pretty good at making you think one thing about a character, but in reality it's a little different, subverting expectations of characters and the plot. Can't wait to see you get to know these characters! Also, i would recommend you reacting to the soundtracks of each volume once you finish the volume, because you learn a lot about the development and emotions of the characters from listening to the lyrics of the songs. Even if you don't react to the soundtracks, please listen to them and pay attention to the lyrics. Plus the music is really good!
Everything is a gun in rwby. EVERYTHING
A thing to note - Ruby is not the only one to have build her own weapon. At the very least the same is true for Yang as she also attended Signal academy and as Ruby mentioned all students there forge their own weapons. Given her background Blake at least modified hers if not build it from the ground up. There are other characters that likely built their own weapons or at least heavily modified some basic model but naming them would be spoilery.

Since no one's bothered to mention it, I love that you take the characters so seriously, especially concerning you thinking about what they'd be like if we were there with them. I already have an OC designed specifically for RWBY (and DC and Marvel and other superhero-related media...) But with all that said... I wonder what YOU would be like as a resident of Remnant. +MiscatSquad.
Keep in mind this first volume of RWBY that several of the episodes are part 1 or part 2 and those you might want to react to part 1&2 in the same video . One because of the actual short run times and second that you will get so hyped that they ended that in the middle of a discussion or action sequence .

I got the voice actors of Ruby, Weiss, Blake, Yang, and one other character you'll see much later in the series, to autograph a poster of the Eeveelutions. Yang signed Flareon, Ruby signed Jolteon, Blake signed Umberon, Weiss signed Glaceon, and the last one signed Eevee. (I'm not saying that character's name. No spoilers.)
You are sooo correct! It was NOT, JUST because of budget. There were other reasons for the silhouette background characters, and for the length of the episodes. They were short largely because this was a webseries, and Rooster Teeth, ever since Red vs Blue, tried to keep their episodes short, because that works better on the internet. RWBY Volume 1 is more like a movie than a season of full length episodes, if you were to sit down and watch it in its entirety. Except it has tons of stuff happening in it, because something interesting had to happen in each episode, and they were so short. It is so, so nice to finally see someone else have a positive reaction to the silhouettes.

The Red Like Roses manga is part of a four part anthology. It isn’t cannon, but it would be good if you waited a bit until you read it.

Here's my advice for any external media that I can remember off the top of my head:
The soundtracks are indeed worth devoting reactions to in their own right, and the lyrics do provide interesting foreshadowing and characterization.
-On a side note, there is a clean and explicit version of I Burn, chose at your own discretion)
I'd recommend waiting to read the mangas until after Volume 3. The anthologies (like the one you showed) fill in details but don't retread much ground of what we see, and there's one for each of the main 4 (Yang's releases soon), and the majority of what's depicted is canon.
There's also a 12 chapter Ultra Jump manga which does retread some ground while showing off some new stuff, as well as a monthly Shonen Jump serialization which just began, and an upcoming DC comic adaptation
RWBY Chibi is the skit-based comedy spinoff series, with Season 1 following Volume 3, 2 after 4, and 3 after 5, and probably more following Volume 6
There's the Grimm Eclipse video game, which does have a canon story between Volumes 2 and 3.
RWBY: Amity Arena is the free-to-play mobile game, which is in the same vein as games like Clash Royale
As of this time, the main 4 also are guest characters in BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle, with possibly more characters on the way, if fighting games are your thing.
There's also a novel coming out this summer, but I won't say anything about it for spoiler reasons, other than it follows Volume 3.

Ruby would have a Sylveon with a Red and Black color skin, Whiss would have a Stoutland(because Stoutland's can learn the Elemental Fangs) with a Obvious White color Skin, Blake would have a Weavile with a Pitch Black color Skin, and Yang would have mabey a Pikachu.
