Patterns can't all be winners BUT the work you put in is top notch 😊
Hysterical! And NO it was never a going thing in the sixties!!! I was there!! You are. Adorable but at least we learned a new technique for turning edges. Again NEVER A THING IN THE SIXTIES😅
Your son has a great sense of humor!
IKR? Gotta love Justin
😂😂
They wanted it to catch on but everyone said no thanks! 😂
You did a good job on it
You are trying so hard to be nice about this design ❤ you did nail it! All I can think about is the muppets now lol!
😆 lampshade for sure! I agree its ok not to like it❣️. Love you 🥰 = Hugs
😉
I thought the same thing! 😂
I think it would be great without the fringe. It covers the best features of the pattern. I wanted to let you know that I was trying to knit a sweater from a picture from the 70s and I tried and I could not make the pattern work no matter what I did. I have always respected how you work through things to get a result, but I had never experienced it for myself before. So thank you!!! You are truly amazing with these old patterns.
@@Hippiechick11 I learned from someone who created photo items for knitting patterns. The people who knit up the patterns often don’t follow the instructions exactly. They “fix” it exactly like the creator did with the “chain 3 instructions. 🤷♀️
So it probably wasn’t you. 🙂
@@AmandaHunter777 it was very frustrating. 🤣🤣
Don't like hat, but your Vintage Crochet is fun to watch.😊
I was crocheting in the 60s but I have never seen anything LIKE that!!!! Thank goodness it didn't catch on, lol!! Kudos for you making, it though, gave me a giggle! Your son has a great sense of humor to pick that out for you!
You made me ugly laugh 😆 - totally worth it! 💖
😂 Looks like a mop on your head. Such fun and thanks you for cheering me up. You’re a great sport and I love your videos. Xxx
I agree?
You did it! You finally made something I don't want to make. Not a clue where I would even wear something silly like that. Great job with it, but not for me. I like that video because it shows that not everything vintage should be in style again.
My wife wanted to make one and she will add some beads, sequins - or some sparkle things to the fringes for the family Christmas Party
Thanks for the pattern .
MERRY CHRISTMAS
Was also excited about the new stitch shown😊
Just put some corks on the strings and it will keep the flies off 😂😂😂Love from Australia ❤
haha I was thinking the same being Australian lol
Lol
Exactly what I was thinking! Australia here too! Close to Rockhampton! Blesssings
😂😂😂
Great idea.😂😂
Great execution of the pattern! Yes, the turning ridge technique was very cool. No, by no means do you have to like it. Even the model doesn’t look very happy. Thank you for another wonderful mystery pattern!🫶 🦋
Good morning this was a great way to start my Saturday morning having coffee and watching your videos. Just a fun fact the pill box hat is from the sixty’s and there were many different styles.
I'm with you I crocheted in the 60's and never saw anything like that I wouldn't have made it if I saw the pattern
LOL. Too funny. I don't like it either, but you did a great job crocheting it.
Yes! A new video! Saturday morning sorted! Hi, lovely lady!
I got the giggles when you tried it on! Totally OK if you don't like it! Reminds me of a bad lampshade! And no, I never saw anyone wear a hat like this when I was young.
I agree totaly, with the interesting part of old patternis learning new things. I really love that with your videos! I learned already a lot. And stil trying new things out I saw you doing...
😂😂 its a funny head...would I ware it...well no...but can I see potential in the pattern to turn that in something else...yes.
You nailed it!! ❤
It's OK to cry!!!!! It can look good on a young girl in bright colors. Great Job!
Greetings from Germany ❤
Yeah, another video from Corinna! What fun, I wonder what project she will pick for us today! ❤🙋🎄😊
Its a muppet hat. Great execution, and we learned about the post ridge. Win!
I love your videos!!!! Im working on one of your 1970s crochet corner bookmarks for my moms bday in a few days. My practice one turned out so cute, just like you!! 🫶🏻🐈⬛🍄👻👽😈
Your hair is growing back so nicely ❤
As for the pattern, I have a 5 year old daughter who would love this for dress up 😂
Glad to know I’m not the only one who works rounds in a cadence. Mine is nearly the same as what you do.
Your process was right on. The turning ridge technique was very interesting...never seen that before. This hat is kind of costume-ish; maybe like a showgirl stage dancer thing? Although all those beads near the eyes, yikes! Thank you Corinna! Rose from California
Had the best laugh in a long time. Thanks
Thank you son. He picked that one for fun x ❤
I use the same bag to hold my hooks!
I agree with you on the chain 3 vs hdc
Good morning and happy day!!
I was a kid in the 60s and I can say I do not remember hats with fringe! Bikinis yes, but not seen a frringy hat lol! I love the pill box style though!
I also rang up my 83 step mom and asked her, and she said not to her knowledge either, and she was a very stylish, beautiful woman then in Baltimore Maryland.
It's ok not to love it!! Thanks for making me giggle!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I laughed outloud with the try on. OMG- yes. I live for this, LOL
I really appreciated learning the oooohh too!
Me too, it's such a fun detail! 😊
That hat made me laugh!!!!😂😂😂😂 Maybe use it as a lamp shade? Planter bucket? But seriously though--- hilarious 😂😆😂😆. Great video. Maybe without the fringe it might look better. Chalk it up to just having fun with yarn. 😊😊😊
Can't all be winners can they? Missed the 60s but never seen the like. Looking forward to your next instalment
Beautiful! Thankyou so much
I remember this vaguely… but it was a hat for my Barbie doll.
Love your channel!!
Even the model in the picture looks less than thrilled to be wearing it
Oh my you did a great job but oh it did make me laugh😂. I am 66yrs but I never saw anyone wearing a hat like that and I have an older sister who was quite trendy but I cannot imagine her ever wearing a hat like this..😂..but I love your work Corrina another success in my eyes..❤
You nailed it, I thought it was going to be a plant holder😂 definitely a no go for me. I will have to say in the color you chose it reminds me of a mop, oh no!
You are a terrific sport! I got Raggedy ann vibes.
You are a trouper! Thanks for the laughs!
I AM vintage and never saw a hat like that. At first I thought at its a tam, without the fringe I think it would be a nice hat. I think its one I would try. L love your site your very pretty lady and I live listening to you, while I have you on tv I am Working on other project, But -- will try this one Merry Christmas and the very best in the New Year. From Canada the cold North.
I never saw a hat like that; it's a hoot. I think I will make one and wear it to church. But I have to think a bit about the fringe. Some other finish, perhaps? Silver chains to dangle and make a noise? A bit of feather boa around? Fur? I can't wait for the fun part!
Well, that is a quirky one xD not for me either, but you did a great job!
Wow! Sometimes.....just wow. 😂😊
I’m not a fan of fringes. You made it beautifully, but I agree with your thoughts on the item. 😊
I was like "what in the world is this thing gonna be?!?" 🤔and I would've never guessed it would be anything like that hat! Frankly, I don't like it much either😂, but you did do a great job on it...and yours alsolooks better than the one in the picture that came with the pattern!🙂 Fun video! 😄
Wow, that's not a hat I've ever seen before! For sure good reason but you did a great job.
I was born in 1959 and never seen a hat like that😂!
Me neither
Given the nature of the thing (trying desperately not to give the mystery away, and I'm sorry if I do), I think it's supposed to go on top of, rather than on, your cranial appendage, and pinned into place. Jackie Kennedy knew how to rock one of those, but I had no idea they could be that large. You did a great job, as you always do, but I agree, I don't like it, either. Looking forward to the next video, but you already knew that.
Not sure which was funnier, looking at that hat or the pained expression on your face while trying on the hat. Thx 🎉🎉😂for the laugh.
😂😂😂
I have never seen a hat like that before. I liked it before the fringe. Maybe some netting to make it look like a proper pillbox hat,or some velvet ribbon
Yikes😮. Maybe without the fringe. I'd like it if the sides were taller and had a draw string to make it a bag.
💯% agree with being allergic to chains as a stitch. Easy by awful.
Love seeing a mystery pattern but totally understand needing a break to do something else. I have enjoyed the "can I make this".
I ❤ your channel and you are great!
That was interesting. 😂 I feel like the base pattern with some crochet flowers could be cute, though.
Maybe the hat would be cute without the fringe
Well, it’s reminiscent of the pill hats that were popular in the 40s & 50s, but with fringe. I’m with you though. I don’t like it either. But you did a good job on it. It was not a fail. And yes, you’re allowed to say you don’t like it. Take a photo of it and put the photo in the scrapbook and reuse the yarn. See ya on the next video.
It's ok not to like a mystery pattern. Hreat execution of the pattern. I limed the turning ridge. Maybe you can incorporate that stitch into a new pattern. Love watching bith your channels.
Diferente,pero lindo 😊
Great job and, I too don't like it, but you did a great job.
Great for Halloween!
I originally thought that it was a beret but once the fringe was added I thought just no! It can’t be a hat! As someone born in the early 60’s I can’t ever recall seeing something so hideous on anyone & I’m sure if I did I would have asked my Mum what the lady was doing with a funny wig. Justin picked a good pattern as it kept us guessing. ❤️❤️👏👏🇬🇧
As always, Corinna, your work is amazing! I agree, though; I don't like it either. ❤
Id take the fringe off and wear it plain. In the 60s we were really into fringe. Shirts, skirts, ponchos etc. Glad its in the past.
No fringe or beads, and I would wear it! ❤
How r you this fine icey storm morning?❣️
As a few others mentioned, this could be used as a costume? If the fringe was, say, done with dark brown or black yarn, it'll look like a skull cap for a balding old man?
Wonderful work as always, even if the results were silly!
I never see one of those but is very interesting my sister is the time me my mom never see one very nice and fan❤
LMAO! yeah - it's hideous 🤣😂🤣 I was following along up until the ridge - I'm glad I stopped there and didn't do the fringe - I'm going to make the bag you suggested instead
Moi non plus lol. Est-ce un chapeau ? Est-ce un balai pour laver le sol ? 🤔😅
C'est bizarre. En tous cas Corina, merci beaucoup pour ta chaîne que j'aime énormément et que je suis depuis un peu plus de deux ans maintenant, des bisous 😘
Oui😂😂😂
Like so many hats of that era: they would work equally well as lampshades.
However, do not put your light in the shade.
And thank you for sharing your challenges with us.
PS. Does you son accept mystery crochet input? (Do you?) 😊
That's a crocheted take on Jackie Kennedy's famous pill box hat style. It was very popular in the early sixties. She introduced that style to the public. She was a fashion icon however as First Lady she was criticized by some for her "short" skirts - her knees showed! That was a time when ladies always wore gloves when they went out.
It's a very weird hat. But you did a great job with it. :)
I like watching shows from that era and I haven't seen anything with fringe like that. A felt hat with tulle and sequins or small jewels glued on the tulle is the only thing that comes to mind.
I'm laughing so hard!🫨😵💫😆😆😆 Nope. But I remember lots of weird stuff going on at City Park. Freaked my mom and me out. We never went there again.🤣 You could do it in red and pass for Raggedy Ann.🤔🤪
You look so cute in it!!! To be honest, I don't like it either. Lol. ❤❤❤
That was fun watch but I wouldn't be caught dead wearing it! Maybe find a use for it with a Halloween costume? Lol
You did a great job, but that hat is definitely one that people will point and say, "Who made that for you?" :)
I was five years old in 1963 and I do not ever remember seeing a hat like this! If you kept adding fringe to the crown, it would make a great yarn wig for a costume party though. You did a great job nonetheless!
I don't like it either, but it gave me ideas!
It's cute 😅😅
It would be a nice hat without the fringe!😊
Without the fringe it could be a real cute pillbox hat. You could decorate it with almost anything -----but the fringe.
Apparently I am in the minority here because I definitely do remember that hat lol. And yes, I'm quite old. I was a big McCall's pattern fan back then. The top is meant to be flat not rounded, which definitely changes the look, and it's supposed to sit perched up higher on your head, not pulled down like a cap. That makes a world of difference in how it looks. I'm thinking you might have used an incorrect yarn, like perhaps it should be a less soft pliable one. But you are still allowed to not like a style or something you made. How absolutely boring this world would be if we all only liked the same exact things! Plus you learned some new ways of doing things with this pattern so I'd call it a win! 😊
That makes a lot of sense, thank you for explaining!
In the pattern photograph, it looks like the hat is on a frame, perched on her head and not worn so much like a beanie?
New stitch - yay! Hat - NAY! What is it like without the llama fringe?
Wow. That is one of the silliest things I've ever seen. Ir IS sixties-ish, but it AIN'T fashionable. Not now, and never was. Fun video though. Love you lots right back.
It reminds me of JLo’s hat worn at the 2019 Met Gala, just add silver iridescent beads.
I am from that era and never saw a hat with fringe like that. Women used to compete for the best hat every Sunday and I've seen some weird ones. I did see some similar to the base hat (without the fringe) tho.
With longer fringe, it could be the start of a Sia costume!!!
I don’t like it either. I never saw anything like that in the 60s. What if you took off the fringe and embroidered a pattern around the edge? At least it was fun to watch. Thanks for the effort. Nice to learn something new.
I wonder what it'd look like with a shorter fringe. Looked fabulous on its own but one wonders how anyone could have thought it'd look good on a head!
I love the turning ridge feature, but I don't really care for the finished product.
