I learned how to crochet with a cheap Amazon dupe of the Easy Peasy yarn and it was great. I found myself splitting the other yarns I used. I mostly make wearables and accessories so I don’t use any of these yarns anymore but your content is really refreshing.
Thank you for the Lily moment. We had to put our first dog to sleep a couple weeks ago. She was 16. The way Lily was bowing and running reminded me of how our baby girl used to run and play. ❤
I agree with you wholeheartedly. I bought a Woobles kit because I wanted the Pac-Man themed crochet hook. The kit does make it super easy and is great for beginners. That being said, I hated it. I have been crocheting for more than 25 years, and I’ve never hated a project more than this kit. The finished project didn’t look great. I won’t buy another for myself. I’m really glad that it has gotten so many people into crochet, though. A lot of people love them.
I have those feelings too. Lots of people have learned crochet from the Woobles and I think that’s great. But lots of other people get frustrated trying to make ami as their first project and end up giving up. It’s a mixed bag for sure.
@@Tfwcrochet I learned to crochet fairly recently, and while I haven't tried the Woobles kits, I stumbled across their youtube channel fairly early in my journey and I'm so glad I did. When you have no real idea of what a crochet stitch is 'supposed' to look like, the easy peasy yarn is so much easier to see than plied, velvet or chenille yarns.
This is the most measured take on Woobles/ Woobles yarn that I have seen from a crochet TH-camr, and it is refreshing. It seems like everyone likes to hate on the Woobles, so someone who gives pros and cons is nice. I love their yarn! The only reason I don’t have tons of it since they started selling it at JoAnn is that it’s expensive, and I can’t justify it (yet). I am really surprised that the yarn says to use a 5mm hook when the kits come with 4 mm hooks, though. Some other ideas for videos: Hobby Lobby has some crochet kits that are under $10 each (by “Needle Creations”?) and say that they’re for intermediate or advanced crocheters. Just looking at the front of the box, the difference seems to be if it uses chenille yarn (advanced level) or not. Maybe getting 2 and seeing if the levels seem appropriate could be fun? Or just getting an “advanced” kit since that doesn’t come up often? I also thought that getting the new flower granny square yarn and seeing what else you could do with it instead if the pattern may be fun. Have a great day!
Thinking about the suggested hook size, I wonder if it's just because that's the common yarn label recommendation for medium weight yarn. Usually yarn labels give a suggested hook and needle to get a middling kind of gauge, the kind of tension you could maybe make a sweater or hat with. Not too dense, but not see through. Woobles started with amigurumi kits, but it feels like they're selling this yarn just kinda for "whatever", so it makes sense that they're stick with the convention of a middling tension suggestion
I love that you’re wearing your hexagon sweater! Super cute! I am opposite of you on the green bean casserole. My whole family loves it and I don’t like it! We travelled for thanksgiving but will be home christmas and will be doing the turkey and all the good stuff that goes along with it! Your channel is awesome! Hope your family had a good thanksgiving!
@@AlexisTwoLastNames yes it’s crazy when people say never do this or never say that. I like blue and green together as well, especially with a neutral colour in the mix. I do lot of charity blankets and therefore use donated, secondhand and recycled yarns so have to make do with what I have and I’ve found a lot of colours I’ve been told never to use together, work really well. I’ve had people say to me ‘your blanket looks great but you do know you shouldn’t put red and pink together" and things like that. Crazy. I can use whatever colours I want. Come and arrest me. I’m sure a crochet hook would make a good file for escape purposes; 🤪👍
Im currently working on a cute ruffle skirt for my daughter, I love your cardigan!!! I personally struggle to crochet amigurumi anything. Your videos are perfect for crocheting along while I listen.
The hooks look so cute! They don’t seem to label the size though? I would probably buy the hooks alone too. I wanted the pushers ones so much but not for $40!! The patterns are all too simple for me because I’m not a beginner.
@ShainaMakesStuff they're labeled! All the woobles hooks I have say 4mm on them. If the hook has a pattern (not their typical solid blue ones), the size is a bit hard to find but still there. They're all a size 4mm. I think it would be neat for them to sell their hooks individually with more sizes. Many people buy collabs and limited edition kits ONLY to be able to get the hook. They seem to be money hungry lately, so I think that'll be a great money grab for them 😅
I LOVE GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE... My bf introduced me to it a few years ago and now it's a must for all our Thanksgivings. Turkey, potatoes, stuffing , pie, green bean casserole, and gravy. That's my menu.
I loved this video, even as seasoned former fan girl of the Woobles! This yarn used to amazing when it first came out-it came with more yardage, and it worked as intended. It was perfect to learn to crochet with (as it didn’t have fraying and slippage). HAVING SAID THAAAAT… They’ve raised the price, give less yarn, and tbh this is not good yarn for those who are seasoned with crochet. It’s great to learn, but not great to use once one has picked up the hobby. Also, it’s supposed to be 4mm (or at least, that’s what it was before, and for most kits), and I’ll be honest, it needs like a 3.5 or even a 3mm to lose the gaps. Source: I own way too many kits 😂 Edit: the have had this yarn for sale for quite some time, however, it was originally only available on Amazon 😅
I’ve done a few wobbles kits. I’m not a beginner crocheter by any means but using it to get into amigurumi really did help. I was able to get used to the style of crochet needed with a tighter tension. Every kit I’ve ever seen uses a 3.75 or 4mm hook so I think the 5 is for a simpler project like maybe hat or blankie. Wobbles was my amigurumi gateway and rhss is now my go to yarn for all of my amigurumi.
Coincidently I was actually working on a snake with this yarn while watching this video. My opinion on this yarn is I decently like this yarn. I am a beginner so I haven’t tried any other yarns this is only my 3rd project. I like that it doesn’t split, I tried to use a yarn that I had laying around and it split so bad so that lasted 5 seconds then I switched back to the woobles yarn. I am noticing that my snake is stiffer than I wanted it to be so I’m going to put pipe cleaners inside to make it more bendy. Anyways that’s my review of this yarn thank you for reading. 😊
I'm doing a late night crochet to stitch a lapel on a hexa cardi. That being said, I live in Australia and it's VERY rare to come across Woobles products, if at all. We usedd to have t-shirt yarn at our Spotlight but they don't sell it anymore.
This is the first time I have been to your channel, it popped up ad a suggestion. I am new to crochet, very interested in anigurumi. I got a Woobles kit to learn. It is expensive as a kit, but good price when you consider the step by step internet lessons that come with it. Before I was halfway through, I saw another cute little project on TH-cam and actually did that completely first (made a couple of them). I do not really care for the t-shirt yarn because of the stretch, but as a learning tool, it was nice not needing to worry about it separating. I will be going back to check more of your videos.
My mom made a dry rub on the turkey, and it was nice and moist. And stuffing cranberry sauce and the usuals. But desert was amazing, my mom makes these AMAZING things called pumpkin rolls, I can't describe how good it is so here's how ill describe its... Its like pumpkin bread rolled up with cream cheese, and also we had monkey bread which was also amazing!!
💯 !! I have a love and hate relationship with that yarn. I love it because i FINALLY have been able to learn to crochet and even done some projects because of their kits! But hate it because the tension can be hard to get right and they're expensive 💔 as soon as i get super good then ill try other yarns. You should do best yarns for begginers 🙏🏼
The best yarn for beginners is a middle-tone (AKA: Not black!), affordable, plain acrylic. Nothing fuzzy or ultra-textured. Something you aren't afraid to use, so nothing super expensive, but something balancing affordability with a color and texture you enjoy. Black and/or fuzzy yarns will make your stitches impossible to see and therefore impossible to learn if you are doing it right or wrong. But as long as you can see your stitches, and aren't afraid to use the "nice" yarn, then whatever is available to you will work. Because there are differences in availability based on region, these are the best parameters to use since it would work for anyone in any region. Like me? I live in Canada, so no Joanns or Hobby Lobby for me. The only yarn stores I have near me are Michael's and a few small Local Yarn Shops (LYS). So telling me to go use "I Love This Yarn" because its good for beginners wouldn't work for me. But I can get the Michael's house brand very easily.
my 1st and favorite yarns to crochet with have been bold colored, worsted weight (medium weight 4) acrylic yarns that I like the feel of as a skein. (some can be scratchy, so skip those) But once I was decently comfortable with those yarns, I tried making snowflake ornaments from lace weight yarn and absolutely loved the challenge, even if just for one project.
I’ve always thought that the woobles were cute but the yarn makes them look bulky and un-uniform. I was excited when I saw you posted this video so I could hear other’s opinions on it!
I would love the pink Woobles yarn! I’ve never tried it before and I have a whole nightmare before Christmas plush set to make that I could use it for!
I managed to split the Woobles yarn with the hook that they provided - while trying to make my stitches tight. Worked up with several snags. Honestly, tho - I don’t make amigurumi, so I wouldn’t have made it without the kit. It’s cute. I hate the polyester blanket yarn stuff, tho - I made a baby blanket with it and the yarn soaks up so much liquid that I couldn’t get it to dry at all after I washed it. Worst baby blanket I’ve ever gifted to someone, hope they never have to wash it. Velvet yarn is nice until it worms its way out of the stitches - feels amazing tho. I usually use acrylic, cotton, or a wool blend - depending on who will receive the gift.
In my household we no longer celebrate any Holidays or Birthdays and I got to say we don’t miss it. It’s been 2 years now and it’s been a game changer.
Appears very similar to the home decorating yarn, I think it was Bernat, that I tried. It made a great bathroom rug. Soft and squishy on the feet and I enjoyed working with it. I don’t think i would be happy using for amigurumi, not soft and fuzzy enough for me.
This type of yarn has a cotton core, which means if you use tight tension you will have gaps. Cotton has no relaxation to it as a fiber, so if you make it strong it will STAY strong. I did the Yumly kit from Lion Brand, and it has the Lazy Days yarn, which is polyester. You need to use looser tension because of the cotton. Also yarning UNDER instead of OVER reduces the gaps, but not if you use tight tension. HTH
For me it’s just too complicated lol. If I stitched looser the gaps were worse so I don’t know. I have used cotton yarns with MUCH more success than this. I just think tshirt yarn and I don’t get along lol
I started off with cotton yarn and I realised that when I was trying to crochet tightly there'd always be a lot of gaps. Realised soon enough I had to loosen my tension 😂
@@Tfwcrochet I get it. It’s not for you 🤷🏽♀️ I’ll take that pink left over yarn if you are still giving it away 😅 That little lemon on the Woobles label has me thinking pink lemon 🍋 😂😂
FTR Woobles kits include a 4mm hook. I think the stuff on the yarn skein was based on thickness and not amigurumi making. I don't get why they DON'T put the skeins on the site. The skeins are almost always on sale on Amazon for about 10 and have been out for over a year. The only change they've made in that time was making the skeins a bit smaller. As for other missing stuff from the site, they only recently put their pattern book up there. But only as a bundle with yarn or kits. I learned with woobles. It was a good gateway into crochet but I've largely moved on. The way it teaches you to read patterns is worth its weight in gold. I still use the yarn and Bernat Home Dec (which is basically the same construction) for accessories. I irrationally dislike chenille yarn. This was a fair review.
she is cute i think it turned out great and there yarn is more for newbs! i also don't understand why they don't have their yarn on the site! iv got some of the kits but have not had time to try them yet and i bought some of the yarn on amazon and the lemon is on all the yarn labels ! im not a newbie but also not a pro and have not used my skills in a while, so i thought the kits would be a good refresher for me cus it is easier to see the stitches and wont split!
i love the yarn in the woobles kits 😭😭 i just SUCK at amigurumi and wanted to use it for other things (without having to spend $30 per each pack.....) im gonna have to snatch this up
Green bean casserole and mashed potatoes and gravy as well as rolls are my favorite. I have made 39 Thanksgiving meals now and I rarely eat a meal that I have cooked. I’m just tired of food by the time it is done. Lol. That was a very weird comment you shared from a viewer. I personally was just thinking about how stunning your eyes are. Nothing creepy here, I just notice because I come from a family of gingers, lol.
Ive never bought this brand but i love tshirt yarn... just not for amigarumi 😂makes great bags baskets and jackets tho! Crocheting a beanie for my husband while i watch ❤
I would never spend that much on a kit or the yarn. For Thanksgiving dinner, my list is super long. I'm in my 60s, so I've probably cooked 40+ dinners. I have for several years due to $$$ alot for one day. There's only 2 of us in the house now, and I can't cook without leftovers. My must haves are turkey, of course with dressing, not stuffing. Green beans, mashed and sweet potatoes 😅, dinner rolls, gravy, noodles apple salad. Then desserts are pumpkin pie, some type of cream pie and apple crumb pie. More food if more people 😅😅😅. Love watching all your videos, but I'm way behind. Hopefully I'll catch up today. 😊
Sounds like a great list! I guess I technically make dressing too. But we always call it stuffing. I made an apple crumb cake and it was SOOO good. My favorite dessert this year.
I like: Lunarm you can buy on Amazon, Keche velvet, and juicy couture None of them are cheap but they are all strong and won’t fall apart when sewing but are still soft.
Hey, sometimes there's just yarns you don't personally like or vibe with, just how any other artist has art mediums or supplies they don't like, and that's okay!
Thanksgiving.....sweet potato casserole, leave out the butter, cut back a bit on the sugar.....topped with the brown sugar and butter crumbled topping sprinkled with broken pecans!
I tried to like it, but I am also not a fan of T-Shirt yarn, I think it is the stretchy feeling...I feel like I have less control. Like if I find it on deep discount...I will probably still buy it but not something I will go out of my way to get. I cooked Thanksgiving dinner! We make 2 turkeys, one roasted and one smoked. For sides this year...broccoli is a cream sauce, corn, mash potatoes, chicken pot pie (which isn't really a side, lol), mac and cheese, ham and cheese croissant, pigs in a blanket, cornbread, rolls...I bought green beans but then forgot about them until 3/4 into my cooking session...so no green beans this year. Also, I bought pie, pumpkin and pecan. I don't bake.🤣🤣
Your food all sounds soooo good! I also prefer cooking over baking. I tried making lots of desserts all in one day but ended up having to buy a pumpkin pie because I ruined the first one lol
I haven’t tried either t-shirt yarn or Woobles yet, but I do want to give them a try. I just finished a Herrschners Ami kit - the Chromatic cobra and I was surprised at how much I loved their cheerful fleece yarn. Would love to get your thoughts.
Yeah, i learned to crochet way before woobles came out. Like almost two decades ago. I got hooked into woobles via their advertising, tried it and couldnt finish a kit. For precisely the same reason as you, i couldnt stand the tensioning perfect, i want my stitches to be tighter. I hated seeing the holes so much.
Always had mixed thoughts about the woobles in general. I think that its great so many people can learn to crochet with the kits but the finished pieces like you said always seem a bit gappy and imo just not the cutest. I kinda wish they would make a diy wearables kit using the yarn instead because i do think thats where tshirt yarn really excels. This yarn would be amazing for bags or belts but for amis…. Also the price to me is the biggest reason i will never try it especially because its excluded from coupons!!!
The reason it was created for beginners is that it won't split on them. I don't personally like it because I am an experienced crocheter. Technically I don't believe it is a t-shirt yarn at all, however, beginners seem to like it and then it's easier to transfer over to other yarns.
i've been wondering for awhile now, how do u count your rounds? i could never not use stitch markers, but i do not see you using any. please tell me your secret!🥺
I count in my head 😅 I do use stitch markers sometimes if I’m not familiar with the pattern but I have been crocheting so long I just usually count in my head but sometimes I do get off on my stitch count so I don’t recommend 😅
Do you have any recommendations for good (cheaper) beginner friendly yarn? I would be really interested even in some comparisons and such if that’s something you’d like to do! I will actually teach my first crochet class to kids starting in February and im still looking for that perfect yarn with the right balance of easy to work with but also affordable so it doesn’t kill my budget immediately 😅
I'm always wary of wobbles, seems like a lot of money for a kit when you realistically can find the same stuff much more affordably at stores and patterns on youtube and blogs. Also, it sucks that it's the yarn causing the gaps. So many people i know in the beginning say "Ugh why do I have these gaps, how can i fix these gaps." Of course, as crocheters we say "Tension!" but if the yarn is not conducive to sustaining tension and will always cause gaps, I feel like its leading people to potentially feel like they failed.
While I do think the Woobles have their place as good learning tools with yarn thats easy to see stitch anatomy, I agree with you that the yarn just isn't for me. And, as others have mentioned, I'm not sure how potentially fiddly ami projects are as beginner projects. I'd much prefer making an ami out of a standard acrylic or the occasional chenille style yarn. As requested, I was working on Jennifer Starboard's Mosasaurus pattern!
As I understand it, tshirt yarn is recycled tshirts, so has to be good doesn't it? (Given the massive oroblem disposing of clothes is causing). I've never seen it? What is it like to use? Would it work better to crochet clothes or blankets? Would it work on fusion projects? I'd be really interested in another review of this product.
I have a whole video on my channel about the making of this sweater! The pattern is called a hexagon cardigan if you google that there are lots of different tutorials
I'm kinda the opposite when it comes to hook preferences. I would far rather use a larger hook and have a squishable little friend at the cost of some spaces visible between stitches. Small hooks in the attempt to make crochet into a gapless fabric tends to make fabrics that are hard and toys that are better for looking at on a shelf than the are for holding. I've literally never had stuffing work its way out fwiw. I don't really have an opinion on T-shirt yarn. I looked at this stuff in Joann's a while back and almost bought some before seeing the price for such a tiny yarn. (They were $15 here, not 12 like yours) I definitely think their main goal with it is "won't split" and "good stitch definition". You really don't want to start a new crocheter on those fuzzy velvet yarns. Honestly when it comes to amis, I much prefer a basic craft store mid weight acrylic or something. I don't want a cotton (hurts to work with) and I don't want a fuzzy blanket yarn (hate touching that stuff). Just give me something basic that comes in a million colors and doesn't cost an arm and a leg
Since you talked about gaps on the stitches you could pleaaase make a video about it? I hate having this and I tried everything I could find but they keep showing up and makes me angry 😢 and I’m working on a cactus to give it for my mom 😊 Ps: I love your eyes they look like a contact lens that some cosplayer would wear haha. Sorry for any English mistakes it is not my first language ❤
I'm working on a mushroom. I have never tried a T-shirt yarn, or a Wobbles because it is not in my budget to spend that much on a kit or a yarn I am unsure of.
I haven’t bought anything Woobles specifically because every image has a piece with gaps. I hate the gaps!! I yarn under and use a smaller hook the recommended specifically to create a solid fabric. All of my toys go to kids and the Woobles pieces look like they’d be destroyed after a couple nights of snuggles.
It seems like people have different priorities when it comes to making plushies but I feel the same way. I feel like it would be durable but not exactly snuggly.
I’m wondering if they said to use a 5mm because even tho 5mm is big for a size 4 yarn when doing amigurumi, it’s a fairly normal size for anything else. Even though their kits are amigurumi centric maybe the yarn isn’t supposed to be? If so, I feel like they should have two separate sizes listed, a normal size and an amigurumi size. Since it’s a yarn specific to beginners they might not know to size down for plushies.
I kinda want to get a woobles kit just because the patterns are cute but I don’t think I’d like the yarn. I heard someone say it’s a blown yarn before. Not sure it it is though. I was working on a Rita Fox by Pica Pau while watching 😊
i find it so surprising they recommend a 5mm hook. ik a lot of yarns do tend to size up their recommendations since ami isnt necessarily their purpose... but these r advertised as ami yarn (tho ofc it could be used for other things). so weird! idk if u saw by crochet me zaddy came out with chenille yarn specifically for ami and it recommends a small hook size!
This is going to sound counter-intuitive, but yanking crochet stitches really really tight will actually make the gapping worse. Particularly with this sort of yarn. By yanking it super tight, you are eliminating all of the yarn's own squish-factor. A slightly looser tension will allow the thickness of the yarn to fill in the gaps just like with the velvet or chenille yarns. This yarn in particular shows gapping when yanking because the tube design means that there is no fuzz to hide the gaps unlike with the velvet or chenille yarns, whose gaps will be hidden by their fuzz. If you want consistency in your stitches, then it would be better to actually be just a little bit looser and let the yarn's plush-ness do the work for you.
People are saying this but I’ve tried every size of hook and I always get gaps. It’s just not for me and if it means it looks like the sample photos it’s definitely just not for me 🤷♀️
@@Tfwcrochet That's fair. If it's not for you, then it's not for you. I'm not trying to convince you to love the yarn haha. However it's not JUST the hook size that affects tension. Yanking the stitch tight around the hook (or after it's complete) will still create gaps even (and especially) with a larger hook. With the much smaller hook like you were using, less yanking would be sufficient to fill the gaps.
I love the yarn for amigurumi but would never buy it at that price point. I like the stitch definition cotton yarn has but traditional cotton yarns are hard on my hands so the easy peasy yarn would be a great alternative.
The price of the woobles yarn has always been kind of a turn off for me, especially the kits, but the yarn itself makes me think of a lighter version of lion brand's lazy days cover story or, their regular lazy days, which is the same weoght and about 1/2 the price, plus you get more yarn
My daughter learned to crochet with a Woobles kit and loves the yarn. I have made one of the Woobles using there kits and am not so fond of the yarn. It is all personal preference.
@Tfwcrochet 😂 I think you have tried it a while back, I'm not sure they're a company like the woobles called amigo-rumi and they have nice yarn I feel but you do whatever video you want girly! I love watching them and I'm also a plushie crocheter and I've been making Christmas gifts this year! 💚
I hate those Wobbles kits. I knew from the beginning i was not going to like them based on the yarn choice, but i told myself i needed to try something before i give hard judgement. Got a kit and i was 100% right. Yarn was horrible to use for amigurumi, not enough poly-fil, and the crochet hook is the worst crochet hook i have ever used(it was catching the yarn as the metal was not polished & was super scratchy to the touch). I hope that was just my kit. The pattern was good though, overall. Nonetheless, do not recommend for beginners or anyone.
Lovely to see you again Rachel. I would have liked you to use the recommended hook size. They recommend it so why not at least try it. You might get a more even tension with a bigger hook as the yarn can expand with the bigger stitches. My country doesn’t have Thanksgiving as we didn’t have any starving pilgrims back in the day. Just starving convicts. I’ve never heard of Woobles so found it all enlightening. Haven’t heard of green bean casserole either so will have to try it. We don’t call them green beans here, just beans. Not working on anything as it’s the middle of the night as in 0330. 🌈🦘
@ that would be interesting to include, considering that’s the recommendation. Also be interesting to see if the spaces between the stitches even out with time and use. There must be a reason for the ‘wadding’ core’ down the middle of the yarn. What is T shirt yarn usually used for? Making T shirts lol.
All Woobles kits come with a 4 mm hook. So why would they suggest a 5 mm. Makes no since. The kits are EXPENSIVE. $30 for a regular kit and $40 for a licensed. That's insane.
@Tfwcrochet exactly! I have 8 of them (I got them at work with my discount). I (coworkers as well) always inform customers how much they are, and no coupons work on them.
I personally also don’t like the yarn very much. It’s just not what I prefer for amigurumi. The gaps, how stretchy it is, the texture, and just the price make it not a great yarn for me. I DO think it’d be good for other things, though, like baskets, bags, decor, ect. Maybe even kid’s toys due to the durability!
Principle alone, I will never buy this "yarn". The simple fact the project is started for you, it doesn't teach you to crochet. It is an instant gratification product that is insanely overpriced! I will never purchase a single thing from this company. I did love your video though. I am making an ugly sweater for a work contest, intarsia gingebreadmen with a pastel candy house as tge back panel. Using big twist baby bear and a few Juicy Couture velvets for brighter candies.
Hmm It's common advice in knitting circles that when teaching someone how to knit, start them with a set of needles that already has some yarn cast on to it. Maybe even a few rows knitted. That way, they can focus on learning the motions of the knit stitch on something already pretty stable. Then you go back and teach them how to cast on their own piece. The starting bit of a project is always the most fiddly, and I find crochet magic loop to be especially fiddly, so I figured they were operating on a similar principle. Though it's probably a lot more limited when you're providing a kit vs teaching someone in person.
I go back and forth between loving the Woobles and hating them. I have heard great things from absolute beginners, but they are so expensive and in my opinion...they're kinda ugly 🫣
How many of you got a Woobles ad on this video 😂 ?
I did!😂
I learned how to crochet with a cheap Amazon dupe of the Easy Peasy yarn and it was great. I found myself splitting the other yarns I used. I mostly make wearables and accessories so I don’t use any of these yarns anymore but your content is really refreshing.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I bought a Woobles kit because I wanted the Pac-Man themed crochet hook. The kit does make it super easy and is great for beginners. That being said, I hated it.
@@Yirggzmb That makes sense.
But if you make the pink lemon, then it'll make pink lemonade! 😂

the pink era is my fav lol. people dislike ariel’s red hair n pink dress combo, but i love red and pink together ❤😂💘
Have always and will always love pink and red together. I remember someone in middle school telling me they clashed and it made me so sad lol.
I’m sure a crochet hook would make a good file for escape purposes; 🤪👍
this is becoming my favorite channel! i love it here
Omg thank you so much. What a sweet comment 🥹
Im currently working on a cute ruffle skirt for my daughter, I love your cardigan!!! I personally struggle to crochet amigurumi anything. Your videos are perfect for crocheting along while I listen.
That’s the goal! I have a whole video making this cardigan that I forgot to reference in the video lol
The price turned me off of this yarn. I kinda wish they would just sell their hooks independently instead of their yarn. I’d snap those things up!
Oh are they good? I still haven’t actually tried a kit lol
The hooks look so cute! They don’t seem to label the size though? I would probably buy the hooks alone too. I wanted the pushers ones so much but not for $40!! The patterns are all too simple for me because I’m not a beginner.
definitely the only way to get it is on sale. Even then it’s still expensive
I find a good set of clover hooks work way better. I like the cute specialized ones but they aren’t very smooth like clover
They seem to be money hungry lately, so I think that'll be a great money grab for them 😅
Sometimes going up a hook size actually can fill up the holes because you are not pulling it as tight. Seems counterintuitive but it is true.
People keep saying this. I have another kit I’m trying that uses tshirt yarn so I’ll be trying to stitch a little looser. It’s so hard for me!
I LOVE GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE... My bf introduced me to it a few years ago and now it's a must for all our Thanksgivings. Turkey, potatoes, stuffing , pie, green bean casserole, and gravy. That's my menu.
I make pumpkin pecan pie. My friends and family love it. It combines the best of both pies in one. ❤
That sounds amazing!
I loved this video, even as seasoned former fan girl of the Woobles!
This yarn used to amazing when it first came out-it came with more yardage, and it worked as intended. It was perfect to learn to crochet with (as it didn’t have fraying and slippage).
HAVING SAID THAAAAT…
They’ve raised the price, give less yarn, and tbh this is not good yarn for those who are seasoned with crochet. It’s great to learn, but not great to use once one has picked up the hobby.
Also, it’s supposed to be 4mm (or at least, that’s what it was before, and for most kits), and I’ll be honest, it needs like a 3.5 or even a 3mm to lose the gaps. Source: I own way too many kits 😂
Edit: the have had this yarn for sale for quite some time, however, it was originally only available on Amazon 😅
Favorite Thanksgiving food - sweet potato crunch. And I’m working on a CAL Christmas blanket. About 3/4 of the way done. Ready to be finished with it!
I’m so intrigued by sweet potato crunch. I’ve never heard of that
Coincidently I was actually working on a snake with this yarn while watching this video.
Pumpkin rolls! My grandma makes those. So good. I haven’t attempted them myself yet.
Love your sweater. It looks so nice and cozy soft.
Thank you! I have a whole video where I made it if you want to check that out! 10/10 do recommend the yarn
Hi, nice review. I'm working on Hunter green hand warmers. My son requested them. Have a blessed night.
Love Lily cameos! So cute!!
She demands to be included lol. She’s the true star here
I’ve been waiting for this video!! Woobles got me started with crochet so I’m very excited to see your opinion!
Sorry it wasn’t the highest opinion ever. It’s just not for me I think.
I found the same type of T-shirt yarn at the dollar store. Much smaller skein though... I used a few of them and made myself a cute little purse...
It’d be much better for a purse I bet.
I’ve always thought that the woobles were cute but the yarn makes them look bulky and un-uniform. I was excited when I saw you posted this video so I could hear other’s opinions on it!
Love green bean casserole! And after reading the comments, I really want to try a woobles hook 😂
Some are saying it’s good some not so much but the consensus is it’s cute lol
I would love the pink Woobles yarn! I’ve never tried it before and I have a whole nightmare before Christmas plush set to make that I could use it for!
I will have to organize something so I can mail it to one of yall because I hate the idea of it going unused on my shelf
@ that would be awesome!
This is interesting! I was just looking through a woobles pattern book that someone gifted me and I was curious about the yarn.
What size hook are you using? I feel like the 4mm that comes with the kits are too big and I get a lot of gaps when using the kits.
I did show it real quick but I used a 3.75 any smaller felt too tight. But they say to use a 5 which seems waaay too big
@Tfwcrochet oh I must've missed it! I do watch with my children and often have to re watch videos 3 or 4 times haha thank you!
I was finishing up the first day in my wooble calendar!
I love using the Home Dec yarn for home accessories like rugs.
she is cute i think it turned out great and there yarn is more for newbs! i also don't understand why they don't have their yarn on the site! iv got some of the kits but have not had time to try them yet and i bought some of the yarn on amazon and the lemon is on all the yarn labels ! im not a newbie but also not a pro and have not used my skills in a while, so i thought the kits would be a good refresher for me cus it is easier to see the stitches and wont split!
I'm not a beginner beginner but I love their kits and I've done so many. Lol. But I see some of the qualms people have about them.
i love the yarn in the woobles kits 😭😭 i just SUCK at amigurumi and wanted to use it for other things (without having to spend $30 per each pack.....) im gonna have to snatch this up
Green bean casserole and mashed potatoes and gravy as well as rolls are my favorite.
Thank you!! I’m a fake ginger. My real hair was blondish brown before it went gray but I love being red. ❤️
Ive never bought this brand but i love tshirt yarn... just not for amigarumi 😂makes great bags baskets and jackets tho!
Crocheting a beanie for my husband while i watch ❤
I am working on a Christmas tree pillow, the pattern is from Wonder Crochet. Your cardigan looks so good ❤
Thank you! I meant to reference the fact that I have a whole video on it then completely forgot lol.
Hi what is the type of yarn you used for your own design squid that you showed? I loved the look of that color and texture!!
That is Bernat velvet! It’s not always the easiest to sew with (not the worst either) but perfect for this pattern since it’s no sew.
What velvet yarn do you guys recommend for beginner ish crocheters
I like: Lunarm you can buy on Amazon, Keche velvet, and juicy couture
None of them are cheap but they are all strong and won’t fall apart when sewing but are still soft.
Hey, sometimes there's just yarns you don't personally like or vibe with, just how any other artist has art mediums or supplies they don't like, and that's okay!
True!
Thanksgiving.....sweet potato casserole, leave out the butter, cut back a bit on the sugar.....topped with the brown sugar and butter crumbled topping sprinkled with broken pecans!
I bought Bjørn the narwhal and it was great
Very off topic, but what’s your hair color?! What do I use?
I use ion brand dye I get at Sally’s. The color I use is intense red blonde. I have to use two bottles cuz I have lots of hair lol.
Oooo another kit to try!? Sign me up lol. I have been loving trying kits even if I don’t love the kit itself.
Glad I’m not the only one!
I think it’d be better for other stuff besides Ami too!
I was working on a brown highland cow, Hilde from Yarn Society
Do you have any recommendations for good (cheaper) beginner friendly yarn? I would be really interested even in some comparisons and such if that’s something you’d like to do! I will actually teach my first crochet class to kids starting in February and im still looking for that perfect yarn with the right balance of easy to work with but also affordable so it doesn’t kill my budget immediately 😅
This is a really good idea. I need to compile some ideas. I’m not sure what would be the best but I’ll have to think about it
I'm always wary of wobbles, seems like a lot of money for a kit when you realistically can find the same stuff much more affordably at stores and patterns on youtube and blogs.
Did you end up trying that lemon pattern?
Not yet!
I love your sweater. Do you have a pattern for it? (I'm a new viewer and subscriber)
I have a whole video on my channel about the making of this sweater! The pattern is called a hexagon cardigan if you google that there are lots of different tutorials
Working on a granny square for a blanket.
I hate having this and I tried everything I could find but they keep showing up and makes me angry 😢 and I’m working on a cactus to give it for my mom 😊
Ps: I love your eyes they look like a contact lens that some cosplayer would wear haha. Sorry for any English mistakes it is not my first language ❤
I generally just pull tighter or use a smaller hook but this yarn is tricky!!
Thank you! lol. They are real I promise 😂
I'm working on a mushroom. I have never tried a T-shirt yarn, or a Wobbles because it is not in my budget to spend that much on a kit or a yarn I am unsure of.
They sell the easy peasy yarn on Amazon.
That’s a good point. I think they should list different sizes
I saw that. I want to eventually get my hands on some but I figure lots of other crocheters will do reviews and you know I’m a contrarian lol
Amazon carries the Easy Peasy yarn and it is a lot cheaper than JoAnn''s
I will take the yarn, if no one else has claimed it.
I’ll take the yarn
I love the yarn for amigurumi but would never buy it at that price point. I like the stitch definition cotton yarn has but traditional cotton yarns are hard on my hands so the easy peasy yarn would be a great alternative.
The price of the woobles yarn has always been kind of a turn off for me, especially the kits, but the yarn itself makes me think of a lighter version of lion brand's lazy days cover story or, their regular lazy days, which is the same weoght and about 1/2 the price, plus you get more yarn
I hated lazy days lol. I hate this less but this type of yarn just isn’t for me I think
My daughter learned to crochet with a Woobles kit and loves the yarn. I have made one of the Woobles using there kits and am not so fond of the yarn. It is all personal preference.
It is for sure. I always want to give a fair review but have to admit my own bias.
I think the amigorumi was a better kind of t-shirt yarn, that was like woobles but cleaner and softer
Oh no. Is there another kind I need to try now?
@Tfwcrochet 😂 I think you have tried it a while back, I'm not sure they're a company like the woobles called amigo-rumi and they have nice yarn I feel but you do whatever video you want girly! I love watching them and I'm also a plushie crocheter and I've been making Christmas gifts this year! 💚
The hooks in the kits are even sized down
I hate those Wobbles kits. Nonetheless, do not recommend for beginners or anyone.
learned to crochet with the woobles... I am still neural. I found the tutorials really hard to understand
I made a knot pillow out of ribbon yarn. So so gappy
I didn’t show it but I did try the bigger hook and it looked worse. I will have to start showing that part in future videos
It’s expensive especially for how tiny the products are
@Tfwcrochet exactly!
I feel like it may even be strong enough for a dog toy!
That’s a GOOD sweater 😏
Principle alone, I will never buy this "yarn". The simple fact the project is started for you, it doesn't teach you to crochet. It is an instant gratification product that is insanely overpriced! I will never purchase a single thing from this company. I did love your video though. I am making an ugly sweater for a work contest, intarsia gingebreadmen with a pastel candy house as tge back panel. Using big twist baby bear and a few Juicy Couture velvets for brighter candies.
Hmm
It's common advice in knitting circles that when teaching someone how to knit, start them with a set of needles that already has some yarn cast on to it.
You said it not me lol. I think the ideas of the designs are so cute! I just hate the gaps
@ the gaps bother me too!! I think the concept of the yarn being specifically geared toward beginners is great, just maybe not for amigurumi.
It's wildly ridiculously overpriced
I tend to agree.
