I’ve heard of the book ‘The Secret Garden’. I guess this is the sequel: The Secret Beer Garden.
I'm an English guy living in Austria. I've never been to the Czech, apart from driving through it. Now because of your vids o really wanna to come and visit.
And I just arrived in my hotel in Praha. Haha. Perfekt timing!
It’ been to long since I last visited Prague Nov 2018 for som slalom skateboard competition. Michal Subrt and Ondra Sudek makes every visit pleasant. Great video channel, helped me get from the airport to the city for 30 Skr.
Can't get enough of this channel. You guys are awesome!!!! Prague my favorite city. Greetings from Croatia!
been to prague and there are always the reasons to go back!
Visité esta hermosa ciudad hace unos años y conocí algunos de los sitios mas emblemáticos gracias a tus videos. Saludos desde Argentina!
Always love these type of videos!
Very nice as usual!!
Awesome video sir, long live HONEST GUIDE
Was in Prague last week. Discovered the U Pinkasů gothic beergarden by chance, on my last day. A really cool place. Checked out many of your other recommendations, thanks for all of them. Truly made my Prague experience unique and even more interesting than they were on previous occasions.
Damn it so beautiful. I absolutely love (the feeling of) enclosed spaces that prioritise the ambience.
We use the word stamgast in dutch as well (and in german too i believe). I'd love to visit one of these gardens and try the beer ^^
Stammgast in German. And the Stammlokal is the bar/restaurant you prefer frequently, we also have the Stammsitz, which can mean two things, a) your preferred seat or b) the main headquarters of a company.
@@MyRegardsToTheDodo But in Czech, word štamgast can have pretty offensive meaning, you mostly mean by that those people who sit there, drink the cheapest beer and complaining about government or something, they can be pretty annoying and they block seats for people who really want to spend money there.
@@Pidalin Can have the same meaning in Germany aswell, but that depends on the quality of the bar. If it's one of those that open at 10 in the morning, it has the same meaning as the Czech word.
There's a really nice beer garden at Kostnicke namesti in Prague 3 (Zizkov) where you can chill in the shade of beautiful tall trees :) It's called Kavarna Pod Korunami stromu.
Bro that's a cafe kiosk with outdoor seats. Not a beer garden I'm afraid.
Biergarten and Outside Kiosk is not the same
@@-----------g- Well it still qualifies more as a beer garden than the places in the video, which are simply restaurant outdoor seating, yet Honest Guide calls them beer garden.
FYI for foreigners - While some beavers exist in Czech, most of what one sees the the "Prague River" aka Vltava River are actually Nutrias. (Big rodents imported to Europe from South America in the 1930's for their fur).
I have absolutely no idea what video this comment applies to so I will just put it on the most recent video at the time of writing but first of all your channel is amazing I arrived this afternoon in your beautiful city and have seen so many of the things that you have mentioned the good and the bad and it has been lovely I think I will go and see the dancing house (don’t worry I won’t stand on your grass😂😂) and then probably see the castle before heading north to Poland for tomorrow night. Anyway thank you from the beautiful city of Praha
U Pinkasu is awesome! Great food too.
This year I went in May with my best friend. I'm going on September 1st with my girlfriend. And in November I'm gonna bring my mom for whoim Prague was her first foreign country to visit exactly 50 years ago and she haven't been back since. Jeste dve piva, prosim!
Great video. Thank you
Nice tips! Thx brah! 😊
Two days ago I saw you on the tram (I was going from Andel to Malostranske Namesti), got off the same place and every part of me had to resist to ask you for a sneak insight into this weeks video 😂. A shame as my parents have since gone back home to the UK.
Having said that I’ve been to 3 of those places and of course took them to U Pinkasu to tell the same story as you did.
😊
Thanks for your excellent videos which have made our trip to Prague a lot better!
Love your story, love your city.
Super recommendation. My family and I loved the garden and the tree. Pizza was enormous. Thanks
I haven't checked in for a while ...sorry. Again, you guys have a great episode! Thanks Janek and Honza!
There's a nice outdoor cafe/restaurant in Riegrovy Sady park in the Žižkov area that also serves beer from some local micro-breweries.
I'm from Chile, south America and your videos motivated me to include Prague in my next trip to Europe. Next february I will be there enjoying that wonderful city.
You made prauge substantially more fun!
3:30 Bonus Czech words: the term for "beer garden" is "pivní zahrada" ("pivo" means "beer", "zahrada" means "garden", and "pivní" means "relating to beer"). That's an interesting one, because I don't think it exists in every language/country (at least I wasn't familiar with it). It seems it comes from the German Biergarten (and they remain common in Southern Germany).
Thats exactly right. Biergarten. Part of Bavarian Culture with a very certain concept. In Biergarten you move into a real nice garden, with old trees and mostly gravel on the Ground. There is a special Light. You are sitting mostly on wodden tables. In original Biergarten you can bring your own Food yourself, if you want (Bavarian Biergarten Rules) you only need to buy the drinks. Mostly everything in Self-Service. The beer is regulary sold in 1 Liter Glasses (a frische Maß) and sometimes you have live music. This is Biergarten, its not drinking a beer at a concrete hotel terrace, served by a Waiter and eat something from the Restaurant outside. There is no equivalent Word in czech for Biergarten. Some of the people here never will understand. They should do their Trdelnik thing in Prague.
We have "ogródek piwny" in Poland. Ogródek means small garden and piwny is adjective coming from piwo (beer).
Loved U Pinkasu! We went in for a quick Pilsner and needed to use the restroom then discovered the tap downstairs! We never would've seen it!
Want to pinkasu this evening, what a lovely beer garden, told staff we found the place through your channel 👍
🤩🤩 i know all the places shown here. and they are so cool. can´t wait to visit them again ❤
Finally one place I knew before you guys showed it! Cafe pub Atmosphere :)
Just because of this video book my ticket to Prague today !
I’ll be there on August!
Been there before, a long time ago , for a couple of days.
Děkuji za krásnou procházku krásnou Prahou !
Przechadzka po Pradze to przyjemność
Nice volcom t shirt 👍🏽👍🏽
wow, seeing Prague again including the beer pub, it make me want to go back and visit the beautiful city again. lol
You know that LOL means "laugh out loud", right?
You should get the best Czech citizen award.
Great video guys! I have to visit Prague! Will your book be available once again soon?
I wish this video was longer :(
My family immigrated to the US from Czechoslovakia about 100 years ago, but to be honest I don’t know if it was from modern day Czech or Slovakia. Always wanted to come see where my family came from, and those beer gardens just cemented my future plans!
Honest guide ❤
I've been in Prague a little more than a week ago, I saw you in front of Kafka museum, near the clock. Since I didn't know what to do I just smiled you and went on
I've been to Cukrar Skala too, thanks for that tip
Staying in the old town tonight, plan to head over the river tomorrow
I need some beer. 😮🎉
That tree looks amazing. I will have to see it next time when I am in Prague.
Národní třída - about 4 houses from corner National Theatre
A garden without any greenery except a metal tree🤔
Let's go!!!
Im planning a trip im October, and was wondering if anyone has advice on data sim cards. Is it cheaper to buy in the city or get an e-sim on the internet? Didn't see an honest guide video about it, so figured I'd suggest one.
Sat in the first beer garden as I type this ❤
Was the atmosphere bar previously called Stella artois Bar some years ago?.
My dad is in your video!!! :14 the man in the white shirt drinking his pivo! He told you that he watches you in Chicago!
👍🏻
Any recommendations for live music venues {pubs} in Prague?
At U Pinkasu right now (17h, 11 Oct. 23). It's 25°C, but the garden has just closed as it's too cold in the shade for the waiters😢.
I’ve heard a lot about the beaver in Prague 😆
Haha Been to u pinkasu many times and never found that garden. Thanks !
Love these videos. Can anyone tell me what the average price of a large beer is please? I know it will vary depending on where you go but on average?
The prices for draft beer are continuously rising and yes, it depends on locations and the brand of beer. The prices are now around 60 Crowns for a large beer.
Hello Hones Guide. Love all your videos. We are going to visit Krakov Polen and after that we will drive on the east of Česká republika to Wien. Is there anything you we should see. or is all happening in Praq. ? 🙂
Yes, you have to visit Olomouc. It is so beautiful city!
I will keep an eye out for the Hvězda sládků awards on my next visit. I presume that running up from the cellar to serve beers would have counted, so U Pinkasu is more or less the original Hvězda.
In Danish A stamgast its called stamgæst. maybe we are closer than we think! 🤩
Great video ! I am visiting Prague this week and I love beer so I will be in heaven , but my wife does not . She likes Gin , is this frowned upon in pubs or easily available?
In which months are beer gardens open in Prague?
My husband and I went to u pinkansu and were told to leave and so was another English speaking couple that came in before us but we saw open seats. It honestly made me really a sad because we just got into town and had a local friend recommend this place. Maybe they weren’t feeling the tourists today. Maybe we will try again tomorrow.
😊
oh wow the WeWork building has an actual purpose: beer garden 😂
Love the videos. We've been to Prague 30 times, so new things to do.
BUT ... need a fun cocktail bar to go to (since Coyotes closed late evenings have been empty). Can anyone help?
Blue Bar is great but not for cocktails.
I've been to a few good cocktail bars, L'Fleur and Beyond The Bar are my favourites. Bugsy's is good too. Plus there's one called Parlour on Krakovska street, that we weren't able to get into on our last visit because it was so busy, but i've heard some really good things about it. If you like rum, there's a place called Rum House near Krakovska street as well and they had so many cocktails when we went there last year
🍻
In dutch, you also say stamgast.
Also in Swedish, stamgäst :)
GEEZ, I wonder how the beer taste like there!
I miss the old U Zavěšeneho
When do you become a regular? And what happens if there are too many regulars? Or if one of the regulars no longer comes on a regular basis, will he/she still keep the permanent reservation?
In the case of too many: Maybe a formal duel?
@@a_921 .. so they add 6another table... But to be honnest - there has been soooooo many pubs and restaurants that there is usually just one table for regulars (daily commers) - its a huge privige to be a member of the regular´s table - its something like to be part of the "pub-family" - its non written rule that the regulars table is served always as the first - no metter the other tables asked earlier...
Well thank you for not having any more secret places :)
A regular in Swedish is - Stamgäst.
🇵🇹👍🏻💚❤️
Chuchle 2023!
Whats the name of the pizza place?
Thank u
Is stamgast a borrowed word from German?
Fun fact: Stamguest in danish is stamgaest.
Love & beer!
Yes, because it is from the German Stammgast. They are usually sitting at the Stammtisch.
10 years ago I was in the first one eating duck.
1:34, random high-pitched noise?
We have a Swedish word for that: Stamgäst.
Can we talk about it over a beer?
"...to meet in the evening to play some pub >Fußball< ???..." Fußball? :)
Pub Fußball as Stamgast. When you will win you are the Meistr.
You could of mentioned that u pinkasu is shut in winter.
There must be some places which serve beers that aren't Pilsner Urquell. I like PU but I like trying others too
try Pivovar Strahov or Břevnovský pivovar . Both are in nice parts of Prague.
There are a lot of places which do not serve Pilsner Urquell. Dva kohouti was also recommended in one of the videos. I prefer beer from the tank . So when I cannot drink Pilsner Urquell anymore I go to any Kozlovna (for Kozel), Srdcovka (for Gambrinus), or any other pub. I find it more difficult to find a Pisner Urquell from the tank than finding another beer brand.
Funfact: "Stamgast" is in german "Stammgast" 😁
And this is also the origin for this Czech Word. You can also meet the Meistr in CZ. And when you have to go the Toilet you can use Häuslpapir. Only to give a few examples.
No way, really?
@@Pidalin You are expert? Or Meistr? Tell me...
Hey, even though I’m subscribed and even though I’ve BEEN to Prague three times already - I just paid €4 for a bottle of water in one of these mini markets. Oops!
This is another good reason to drink beer in Prague. Beer is cheaper than water and tastes so much better!! €4 for water is a ripoff but seriously you still got stung on your 3rd visit.???
@@lionellatoszek9385 yeah. It’s the first time I entered one of these kinds of shops and I’d been on a coach all day from Warsaw without a toilet, so I didn’t drink anything. I paid using my card without really looking because who expects to pay more than maybe €2 for a thin plastic bottle of local brand water, unless you are on an airplane? Well… welcome to tourist rip-off Prague.
I don't drink beer, but these are still cool places to visit by the look of it. ^^;; Wish I could, but sensory issues due to autism make beer (and practically every sort of alcoholic beverage) taste worse than words can convey. I especially like the not open to the public rooftop garden though.
Way too much personal info
Stammgast as it would be in german 😂
Because the origin of this Czech Word is German. There are some Words more with German origin in the Czech language.
How come after all those beers you don't seem drunk?
dedicated training :)
He’s not drinking every beer. He’s working. Sips for the camera and moves along.
@@saljablo2767 the tru Czech would NEVER left the pub untill his beer glass is "down" - cezch beer is the best in the world!!!! Czech beer is national trasure, Czech beer is a heaven on earth!!!! NOBODY WOULD LEAVE UNTILL THE GLASS IS EMPTY!!!2
@@johnnygomez7063 wanna bet
Janek doesn't seem to get fat, either!😄
I wish those were actual european beavers :( nutrium are just terrible for the whole ecosystem and environment
There's a really annoying high pitched sound at around 1:33 until 2:20
They are not beavers..
Hi why would you not come and visit India😊
Thanks, but nothing new this time ;-)
Stamgäst in Swedish
Joy my daughter i love you...
no more butter lager pls
2:40 didn't you learn in another episode that those aren't beavers?
he is just testing your memory 😀
