Really goes to show how much work goes to develop the cars 🤯
Yeah you gotta double the hours that the car can be worked on
Of course there is lol
You should see the hours during off season. Multiple overlapping shifts 24hrs per day for weeks at a time.
It's also the best way to get the most out of limited equipment. Like the guy running the gearbox on their largest CNC machine. Those processes take a lot of time so it's good to run stuff like that continuously.
Yup so you can understand the emotional investment these guys and gals put in to the sport. FIA better get things straight for 2022

2:00 the floor is about a weeks worth of work. "Sorry guys missed the apex/braked too hard and had to go through gravel/over kerb." Those poor guys...

When you watch these guys working. It hurts everytime I see a F1 car crashing!
I wonder if they look at the crash and go that's my job safe for 2 months whilst I rebuild the car. Lol.

Thats why drivers alwsys say: I'm sorry guys when they make a mistake and crash. They know how hard and how many people working to prepere the car for race weekend. Just like in music on stage we see the band but its big team backstage working hard and without this team band means nothing on tour.
Finally I am an employee of the Mercedes F1 team. Though for 4 minutes but the feeling was good.
we really need more on the machine shop! As a machinist, I would love to see a bit more !
@AMONGUS i think they can show little bit more of their secrets now that the regulations are going to change, but of course there is still going to be stuff out of limits for us.
@AMONGUS I rather think Merc would like to learn a bit from Red Bull at least they have the better chassis and aero than Mercedes. Red Bull would much rather like to have a like at HPP.

@@paulwood6729 well in terms of Chassis Red Bull always had the better one. Mercedes had to upper hand due to the fact that they had the longer car and therefore more possibilities to work the aero.

Even after 12 yrs of watching F1, i genuinely thought there would be no night shift in factories. Fantastic to see how much work that goes into putting together this beautiful machinery into work through the race weekend for the drivers to drive and fans to enjoy racing.
Btw... Can you guys do something around for Toto like a unbreakable table or some unbreakable headset like that...
OK had to pause it at 2:18. I was like, it's the floor! ....Oh, so you guys are just pretending with an old floor,.....but then I realised that the worlds most top secret part of the 2021 car is now just a relic of history. Amazing! 🙂

As someone who also works night shifts, love to see the dedication of the team that rarely ever gets the spotlight. This is why MB is the top dog in F1 and why you re the cutting edge. All starts on the ground level with these folks! Cheers to the night shift crew 🍻
Now i understand better when a driver crashes, he apologiezes to every single person who worked day and night at the factory to build these amazing machines, damn i love Mercedes

As a newbie to f1 and a supposed neutral fan, I love to see and support all media that both teams, red bull and Merc put up. And this was really good vid on the inner workings of a factory.
As a massive Reb Bull fan I have nothing but respect for Mercedes especially after watching videos like this. It’s a shame people have turned the RB vs Merc into such a hostile toxic rivalry filled with hate for really no reason except to start internet fights over when really we should be appreciating getting to watch 2 teams push each other to limits and giving us some insanely exciting races.
I agree I mean these people make the relationship of these 2 teams horrible toto and Christian used to be besties before 2021 even when horner told Wolff that they were protesting Das they acted like best friends and people had said max and Lewis hate each other, they were on good term at that time when these toxic fans said that at the time and look how bad their relationship is now. Toxic fans make the teams more toxic.....

It's honestly quite insane that F1 racing these days is such a big operation that there are people doing shift work at a factory.
As a former machinist and draftsman and now finishing my engineering degree, I love this videos!

I can't even begin to imagine doing work that requires extreme levels of precision at a time where your body wants to just drop to the floor and sleep. These guys are up there with Asia and India-based call center agents that do graveyard shifts to take calls from the US and Europe and I mean that in a good way.
It's unbelievable how hard and complex is making and developing a F1 car. I'm curious to see how diferent are the tools, softwares and machinery from one team to other.

It takes one week to make a floor. I imagine how painful must be for these guys to see it be destroyed in a crash in the first corner of the race.

We fans would love to know more about the processes and activities that go toward making a championship winning F1 car (without giving away any competitive advantage) as F1 isn't just about the racing but everything that goes towards it and the work carried out by all those amazing people at the factory (too many specialisms to list) and the brilliant mechanics/pit crew. A whole week 'just' to get the floor of the car done. Just wow. I knew F1 cars had a lot going on before they can be driven, but man that really shows how much of an team effort it is and how much work goes on behind what is shown on television.

That's cool to give some credit to the people that aren't around when the top brass is. I've seen some companies where only the dayshift, and specifically the people who are closest to the top leadership get recognition. Night work is a bit hard on the health in the long run, so hopefully these people can maintain some balance.

That was a fantastic behind the scenes look at what transpires on a daily basis. For those that thought it was empty words by Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas when they thank the women and men at the factory. The amount of time and effort that goes into the construction of an F1 car is immense. As a mechanical engineer, I am looking forward to the dyno-testing of the 2022 engine and then the subsequent 2022 car testing.
