17:12 Some info from a candymaker:
Caramellization occurs after a certain point when water has evaporated out from the sugarwater, and which means the sugarwater will be at very high temperatures (something like 170C). No pressure cooker should be used this hot.
I have also heard that some people get sugar crystallization, which occurs as the crystal water is cooled down. A simple fix for preventing crystallization is to mix 2 different types of sugars, for example fructose (fruits), glucose (corn syrup / dextrose), sucrose (normal white baking sugar), maltose (beersugar), lactose (milksugar). Mix 1 part of one sugar and 3 parts of another sugar to prevent crystallization.

Andrew! I'm at the point I get excited when you put a new video up. I can't thank you enough. You, your lady and Ben ... so inspirational and most of all motivational. You don't have so many followers simply because you grow mushrooms. It's because when we watch your videos we can see the joy this science brings to your world. It's contagious. Everything you say is on a level an average person can understand because you make it that way with the personality of someone who truly loves what they do. Samantha's additions in the back while you're talking make my girlfriend and I smile everytime as we imagine a world where we could be so happy to play in such a way. I use to be a photographer for 18 years full time, awards, international recognition .. the works. Then digital made things to easy causing my value to drop in what seemed almost instant. Now i'm a handyman remodeling what I can to pay bills while I think about watching more of your videos when I get home and on days off. Please tell Ben he does have a fan. I love his work. How he comes up with the baggins designs eludes me. I'm building block shelves like the ones in your lab now around my house, so cheap and clean looking. One carpenter to another the designs he comes up with take a higher level of intelligence than just anyone can come up with for bagging. The new peddle auto system is BAD ASS!
I'm writing you this to say thank you. I had lost hope on finding another career my heart is into and doesn't kill my body and health like carpentry. I thought I had lost the feeling of significance forever. Today I had my first order offer just by showing a market owner photos on my phone. I had bought oysters from this market, (tastes like tenderized ribeye) cultured it and started growing it. The international food market owner saw the photos and "the look" i've learned from you then said "You grow we buy!". I'm not even close to that point but I have hope for the first time since I lost everything. Because of you I hope to build a shed for my tools, turn my garage into a grow room and use my living room for a culture lab. So much work to do but because of you I couldn't be more excited to give it my all. Thank you so so much for making this information available. Without you it wouldn't be possible for me and i'm sure so many others! You should know we watch you on a 60" smart TV 7' from our couch. The clarity of your video quality is beautiful.
added note. They called me tilapia Tom in Florida. I'm on the Wakiva Falls RV resort commercial catching tilapia. My RV was next to the falls for a full year where I ate nothing but tilapia I snagged out of the spring 50 yards from my door. After seeing your video showing your tilapia farming and our HOA recently making us get rid of our chickens I will be ordering a pond liner like yours to farm tilapia. Brilliant man ... can't thank you enough for just being a wonderful person. KEEP SPAWNING CULTURE! lol

Do you get two pounds first flush off of 12pound bags or more?. With 100 percent biological efficiencies you should get 100 percent of the dry material to mushroom weight, at 100 biological efficency you should get 6 pounds fresh mushrooms, many oysters are up to 150-190 biological efficiencies. I bet that does pretty good.

Oh silly question but have you tried not pasteurize it as used as is, since pallets is kind of already heat treated, 36 Hours is a lot of energy, Im sure you have tried and the probable answer is yes but not worth it or something, but what are your thoughts?
What about that cold pasteurize method done in Napal = cold water + Lime + Bleaching Powder + Formalin?

After 90 minutes in the pressure cooker using your measurements and mixing everything once, I lost 2 bags to a burst hole and very very thin streched area. This may have been lack of expansion time but I do not believe your video focused on a time contraint.

Great video! I use pelletized oak also, they make it 20minutes from me, $4 for 40lb bag. My CO-OP maintains a supply of soy pellets. So how does THOR cut the supply off to the container without binding? I will watch the video again. I watch Funky Fungi's video and she also wouldnt show her boiler but she had Growing Your Greens guy in and he let the cat outta the bag. She is using a sauna steamer from amazon. I am definitely going that way. Although I do like the lime and pinch of bleach method so far. Its cheap and I'm adding spawn in 24 hrs of hydrating the bag. Doesnt work for lions mane, triple fail. Do you or would you consider selling comb tooth spawn? Does your helper have a warrant out for him? Just kidding, not everybody wants a camera in their face. Keep up the good work.

hi man looking at it for the third time this month :), was trying today a test run with very fine wood chips which have about 11 percent of water content. considering this i added less water in them (I was though quite exact) and yet there was so much water left in my bags. do you think this method could only work for the pelletised wood? I mean the 60/40 ratio? Thank you very much for the answer Andrew :)

@@MossycreekmushroomsofficialThank you, but i am confused. Are you talking about he inside of the bag or the inside of the steamer. Why do people talk about 160 or 175 for pasteurization.

Okay so let me get this straight..at first you said one of the reasons you buy pellets is because is already treated (almost even pressure cook) so why do you steam the bags after you add your substrate mix and water..?

To sterilize the bags after filling. The pellets have low moisture content, not sterilized.
