▶️New York City, the Big Apple, the City That Never Sleeps. Whatever you call it, it’s one of the most integral cities in the United States and for it to be so, there need to be very important people. But how are these people made? Are they just born important with their suits and ties? Well of course not, it’s the schools that make them that way. The education system in New York has been very controversial for a long time but no one can deny that it has the ability to create some very bright students. Brooklyn is home to many of the prestigious high schools here in New York. The Specialized high school Brooklyn Latin is one of them.
Two seniors Michael Liu and Justin Williams take you around to show you what the school looks like and to answer some general questions you may have. With Liam in the back and Leo Lin behind the camera.

Michael I enjoyed the video. Our son got accepted. We are in Queens. Wanted to know your opinion about the commute? How’s the train- safe or sketchy? And how’s the neighborhood?

Congrats on your son's acceptance! You're all one step closer to the finish line! I sincerely hope you have a good experience at TBLS.
With that being said, I'm most familiar with the BMT Jamaica line [J/M line] and can't say for the other trains, but in general I think it's safe. In all my 4 years here I have never dealt with anything that concerned my safety. As for the other trains I would assume it would be the same, I could ask around and give you a better response if you would like. Aside from the trains being notoriously late everyday there is no major concern in terms of safety.
The neighborhood is also safe, I think Bushwick has a bad reputation of being a dangerous place but I never had any issues with safety here. Besides I think we avoid the "dangerous parts" since we're located between Bushwick and Williamsburg. Also, there is a police department nearby if that helps (90th Precinct).
I would highly recommend your son to find a friend to travel with until he is more familiar with the area. If that's not possible there are a lot of TBLS students that live in Queens, so I would recommend going straight home or straight to school as he would be traveling with other students that most likely share the same itinerary. But I would still advise being alert and cautious regardless of how he commutes especially with what's happening on the news now.
