Whats crazy to me is how open everyone was talking about money. I was raised to keep everything hush-hush when it came to how much you were making. To see them talk openly about it lifted a burden off my chest for some strange reason. It was very nice to see!
I think it depended on how the interviewer explained why he was doing this, and he did it very well, so much that people thought it would be educational for people to know, thus they were more inclined to reveal their annual salaries
I was raised that way too, but when I think about it I'm not sure what the big deal is. I'll have to ask my dad what his reasoning was. It might be that he made more than most of my friend's parents and didn't want me saying anything and making people feel any certain way. Perhaps a lesson on not bragging too. But to me, I think it's healthy to openly discuss what we all make, because without the knowledge, it's a lot easier for employers to take advantage of people and pay them less than they deserve.
Well I was also raised that way.. working middle class family. People are trained not to talk about it because the wealthy likes to keep how little we are paid a secret.

My point is when a ceo makes 900 times his or her hour employees wage and said employees still qualify for government assistance it's a problem, it's fleecing the tax payers like myself. We are subsidizing the ceo's profits. Nothing wrong with being wealthy, but good employees critical to their wealth need to be fairly paid, at least enough to afford basic needs . I'm not talking entry level jobs. As for skills speak for yourself, you have no idea what my resume looks like. You are just one of the many brainwashed worker bees.
The guy with the physical therapy business is without a doubt one of the most successful guys you interviewed. He definitely just don't want give gig numbers for possible tax issues.
Some of these people are so underpaid its sad. Like Jeff from the Bronx seems so happy with his job, college educated, a revenue forecaster working for the city... This man deserves a raise!
@@MonoDde the retirement package is what gets a lot of people. Here in Texas our state highway patrol retire with a pension that pays 90-100% of what their yearly salary was when they retired, which can easily be over 100k
i like that a lot of these people are in the creative field, as someone who is going to art school it’s kinda discouraging sometimes when everyone says not to go to school to get a degree in art, i appreciate this
I'm in STEM so kinda talking out of my ass, but I think creative field careers can pan out very well but there just isn't a clear cut path for it like STEM related fields. Kinda gotta figure it out as you go.

I’m in the creative field. For the most part the stereotype is real when it comes to a portion of “art degrees.” However, I make mid six figures and many of my colleagues do as well. The key is to position yourself as a creative that companies require. I found my path as a digital designer, creative director, and copywriter. My animation and copy skills brought in the majority of my pay and networking with clients. Many industries need creatives, and the cool thing is you can work at an agency, in-house, or for yourself. The key is finding an industry need. Currently, user interface, animation/video, web design, advertising design, media, cooywriting will bring you the most potential for earning a quality living. If they say yes, a great question to follow up the “Have you gone to college?” would be, “Dies your degree apply to your current position?” I know so many people who have degrees in one field and work in something SO different.
Well yeah a peace off paper won't always guarantee a job on the field you study in, so for me a college degree is on the same level as a high school diploma. Worthless With one major exception the diploma doesn't cause debt while the other one does.
This. I graduated with a degree in Classics and went into Finance, and although the grade and the University I studied at earned me a foot on the ladder, the degree itself in terms of content is entirely unrelated.

Wow am so surprised, I never knew most these jobs could pay this much. I bounced around a lot having different ideas and waiting on the moment my opportunity is going to come knocking on my door, not until I got to my 30s I finally got my dream job working for a clothing line and also made good investments did my fortune change for the better. Having a good passive income stream has helped me a lot during this recession.
Same here with me @Sky, currently am thinking of starting a blog page and affiliated marketing which I think would be ideal for me. It’s important not give up on your ideas and dreams.
Am currently working three jobs which is very exhausting at the moment, and with this current recession it’s increasing been difficult to survive. I make an okay income but the price of things keeps increasing, it’s sad.
I think its cuz they arent like 20 years old. they have had time to figure stuff out/ Im 30 and have gone to three diff fields and now im in technology when I majored in nutrition lol

@@lacray3960 None of those incomes seemed out of the ordinary for the given job and NYC. Besides, when asked randomly how much you make, more people are likely to given a lower number than come off with an air of superiority (despite just stating a fact).

Planning for retirement, or even financial freedom, is a marathon and not a race, as the saying goes. Breaking your financial independence goals into small pieces can help you stay on track while making the process a little more manageable and hopefully a little less stressful. Yes you are right, no one is perfect in the trading zone but still making good profit from it, I think I'll like to give Sherman Williams Trading a trial and see how it goes. I love creating multiple source of income because it never funny at the end when you depend on one source of income especially when you are retired.
What matter most to you and say NO to things that don't aligned with your priorities. You'll make far more money and get things done if you invest on your future, it will become more important to you family.

Definitely. My gues is that six figures means slightly less than a million. Considering I don’t follow her but every now and then see a video suggested called something “I bought a house”, “I bought an appartment”, “My first house in city X” etc 😂
Great job! You’re very friendly and approachable. Additional follow on should be “do you rent or own? If rent, how much is your rent?” Cost of living in NYC can be ridiculously high depending on your expectations.
I’ve come to realize that financial freedom has more to do with your mindset than your income or your Job. Financial freedom has to do with the right information combined with the right mindset. When I realized investments is way better than spending my money on irrelevant things or even savings, that’s when I started my financial freedom.
I know the importance of investments, but I’ve not been quite successful with it. I’ve been trying my hands on investing in stocks and cryptos, I’ve not been successful, I don’t know if I’m investing in the right assets.

I am from financial field doing CFA and FRM . That economist guy is No way looking like regular finance guy. I really like him. So much positive vibes because he loves it . Financial jobs are really either extremely depressing or extreme enjoyable depending on your preference
I feel like having someone guess that you are a “scribe,” “secretary,” “data entry” when you are a chemical engineer would really sting… she was very sweet though and generous when she said “kinda…” in response to data entry. are there people out there doing data entry for 80k? If so, sign me up.
NYC salaries are much higher than the National average because the cost-of-living there is also much higher at about 2-3 times more. Living conditions are typically very compact compared to the Midwest and almost no one has actual land acreage or a car. Don't be discouraged and consider checking the average salary for your State or county.

I was going to say... A I work in the engineering field to, different kind, but I noticed a trend. A lot of engineering students upon entering the workforce get smacked in the face with a reality that the field they chose is not as exciting or glamorous as they originally thought. Some may realize that they actually don't really like engineering at all. And sometimes it also depends on the work place. No mater how much you may love your chosen career subject, some places are just plain old toxic.
@@Jimbreh not everyone's experience is the same. Just because it didn't go as well as that person in the video may have hoped for it doesn't mean you won't have luck. Sometimes the trick is finding an a job in which work environment itself is enjoyable. It doesn't matter if you're a burger flipper, or work you're "dream" career field. If the work environment is great even the burger flipper may find themselves in the most enjoyable job they've ever had just like you may find yourself in the most miserable job you've ever had if the work environment isn't healthy. If you can find a work place where the people make it a healthy and fun work environment I'm sure you'll also do just fine. Most of the time it's not about the job you do, but rather the people you work with.

Pay can vary a lot from subfield to subfield - Sure, a new grad in oil and gas is gonna make >80k, but not in wastewater. If she recently switched to a gov't job I could see that being actual pay.
This video truly makes me realize how underpaid teachers are. I currently teach in TN and starting pay in my county is $41k with a bachelors. We get a 1% raise every year. It will take me 25 years to make 60k annually.
These videos are actually so helpful just exposes me to potential careers as someone just finish high school and stressing over choosing something to do for the rest of my life.
Try not to stress too much. I'm about to be 30 and still trying to figure out my lifelong career. Just don't be stagnant and keep trying new jobs that interest you. Also go shadow a lot. Good luck!
@@AC-jp1lm you should have an idea of what you want to do when you’re close to your 30’s and should be on the path towards it. After you turn 30 people will judge you for not having a career, lots of doors that were available in your 20’s will start to close.

Watching this video made me realize I don’t make shit in Florida. $17.25 an hour as a foreman on a small landscaping/paver crew. Hearing the carpenter say he’s union and makes 130k. I’m glad I just started my own pressure washing/soft washing business. Can’t wait to make my first 100k a year! I’m 32 and gotta get this money for my family! Thanks for the video. Very cool content.

Well yeah a peace off paper won't always guarantee a job on the field you study in, so for me a college degree is on the same level as a high school diploma.

Wow am so surprised, I never knew most these jobs could pay this much. I bounced around a lot having different ideas and waiting on the moment my opportunity is going to come knocking on my door, not until I got to my 30s I finally got my dream job working for a clothing line and also made good investments did my fortune change for the better. Having a good passive income stream has helped me a lot during this recession.

I’ve come to realize that financial freedom has more to do with your mindset than your income or your Job. Financial freedom has to do with the right information combined with the right mindset. When I realized investments is way better than spending my money on irrelevant things or even savings, that’s when I started my financial freedom.

NYC salaries are much higher than the National average because the cost-of-living there is also much higher at about 2-3 times more. Living conditions are typically very compact compared to the Midwest and almost no one has actual land acreage or a car. Don't be discouraged and consider checking the average salary for your State or county.

I was going to say... A I work in the engineering field to, different kind, but I noticed a trend. A lot of engineering students upon entering the workforce get smacked in the face with a reality that the field they chose is not as exciting or glamorous as they originally thought. Some may realize that they actually don't really like engineering at all. And sometimes it also depends on the work place. No mater how much you may love your chosen career subject, some places are just plain old toxic.
@@Jimbreh not everyone's experience is the same. Just because it didn't go as well as that person in the video may have hoped for it doesn't mean you won't have luck. Sometimes the trick is finding an a job in which work environment itself is enjoyable. It doesn't matter if you're a burger flipper, or work you're "dream" career field. If the work environment is great even the burger flipper may find themselves in the most enjoyable job they've ever had just like you may find yourself in the most miserable job you've ever had if the work environment isn't healthy. If you can find a work place where the people make it a healthy and fun work environment I'm sure you'll also do just fine. Most of the time it's not about the job you do, but rather the people you work with.

Plus it depends a lot on the industry - some subfields of chemical engineering are way less lucrative. She definitely could be in a more supporting role though.

Pay can vary a lot from subfield to subfield - Sure, a new grad in oil and gas is gonna make >80k, but not in wastewater. If she recently switched to a gov't job I could see that being actual pay.
