The most wonderful band. This is as close to the perfect rock song as you get. Loved these guys, even though I'm getting old and cranky about my music.
I with you 100%. This is a great band, great song. Masterful actually. And I get cranky about new music today at age 58. There is very little 'good' new music unless you like county or rap, or as I combine as "c+rap".
I remember it from MTv2 back in the day when they were still a good music channel and they used to feature a lot of smaller obscure bands. I miss those days.
This comment is officially correct. The world would be a better place if everyone on the planet got to listen to the build up to 3.04 at the same time and then danced
The first time I went to England, in 2000, is when I heard this song at my friend's flat. I loved it, and when I went home and Doves came to my town in the US, I went to see them. Terrific show. I hope they get back together.
Heard this song a bit after I found them while playing Fifa 06. Istant fell in love with the band and 8 started my wanting to be British and listen to British indie fase of my teenage years haha. Many great memories taking the subway to school in Brooklyn NYC. Good times 😢
One of those weird, magic & above all RARE truly timeless tunes! I grew up in the 70s so remember lots of 60s radio music. This song woul've fit even in the 60s and easily in the 70s, and then again in the late 80s and into the 90s as well as our new millenium. Infectious-addictive actually!-melody line, up beat lyrics, great energy with like a smoothed out garage sound. One of those songs I've never been able to get enough of! Thanks for sharing, peace!
Summer in the year 2000 was like living in a bubble where everything still felt like the '90s....I miss it so much. When life still made sense and we looked forward to what tomorrow would bring. The future seemed infinite.
First discovered them at 18 years old. Was, at the pub. Just broke up with my first girlfriend. I heard Pounding on the speakers. I decided to drop eveything and take a holiday in Cornwall for 3 weeks. Really loved finding these guys.
This gonna be weird coming from a mc. But this song is a perfect example of real music! All the melody! All the strings! How warm it sounds! If you turn on the radio right now, you won't hear nothing close to this!!! These dudes are heavily underated! Or at least in the states they are.
I can't believe how these guys aren't bigger, such a great sound. Radio is totally shit these days. Thank god for youtube and spotify. Straight onto my playlist.
Every day it comes to this Catch the things you might have missed You say, get back to yesterday I ain't ever going back Back to the place that I can't stand But I, I miss the way you lie 'Cause I've always been misunderstood Pulled apart and ripped in two But I, I miss the way you lie Catch the sun, before it's gone Here it comes, up in smoke and gone Catch the sun, it never comes Cry in the sand, lost in the fire I never really understood Why I did not feel so good But I, I miss the way you lie 'Cause I've always been up and down Never wanted to hit the ground But I, I miss the way you lie Catch the sun, before it's gone Here it comes, up in smoke and gone Catch the sun, it never comes Cry in the sand, lost in the fire
Yes, that's also where I heard it first back in 2002 (I think). One of my favorites of the soundtrack on that game. It was fun driving the London tracks with this playing on the virtual radio station. I still like to fire up my old XBOX now and then and play it. Still fun!
I was introduced to these guys in 2002 when they released "The Last Broadcast" and couldn't believe I missed this one. Great song, good band, thank the U.K. for keeping Rock & Roll alive!
The first time I saw this video was on MTV Brand New after midnight. I was 17 years old I was completely captured by this voice and that crunch guitar. Great Band and great debut single!
holy crap! I did not know this song was that old. I heard this song in a movie recently and just fell in love with it. I am HOOKED on this song, I cannot seem to stop playing it. I simply LOVE it.
Anyone remember when this song was used in an episode of Laguna Beach? And no, that wasn’t the first time I heard it! Thank you, station formerly known as Left of Center, now SiriusXMU
Shivers down my spine and hairs stand on end as I recall this summer sensation. Kissing my then-associated floosie as we sat watching London go by beneath the sun. Man, I loved that girl. Thanks for the memories. Favourite'd!
this is the first doves song i ever heard back in 2000, as soon i listened the first chords , i loved it and i was sold ,i been a fan ever since i have every single album, they are excellent .
Just the sound of it. Haven't a clue what it's all about but (not being pretentious) it has a deep existential sadness. Strikes a chord with me, anyhow...
I am almost 💯 percent certain that the singing style of this song was inspired by Joe Jackson’s “Stepping out”. If I am wrong the entire Doves band can kick me in the Arse ( one at a time). I am the Roach of “ Apocalypse now” of Music
2023 and still going. This one stuck with Me for life. If you are older than 35 u will understand ❤
Yessss❤‼️💯
Yep! Rando buy at Best Buy and quickly made it to the front page of my Binder-O-Cds that weighed 20 pounds and thrice that in memories
I know the song from the original XBOX game Project Gotham. I always liked it!
I heard this song years ago and never caught the band name. It's been driving me nuts for years.....finally I have closure!! Great song!
Same. I found myself humming this on the way home from work tonight (in 2019) and I probably haven't heard this since 2001. Funny how the mind works.
Just think if not for a studio fire that burnt their previous work as Sub Sub, we may never have had this band let alone this song.
Doves deserved much more recognition. I hope they reunite someday.

@@jameslansing7252 Christmas came earlier this year :)
This is one of those tunes you roll down the window in the car, crank it up, and just drive. Great song to wake up to/start the day to. Love it!
Another perfect song from my teenage years
NemRaps Lo mismo digo
Mine too
here we go
NemRaps, you are one of my favorite TH-camrs. So, the fact that you love this song as much I do, makes me happier than anything in the world!!!!!
Bringing me back to being in the Pacific Northwest in early 2001.
This song is grossly underrated!
I remember when this first aired on MTV... When MTV was still good. Had an awesome day that day, and this song was stuck in my head :)
I remember it from MTv2 back in the day when they were still a good music channel and they used to feature a lot of smaller obscure bands. I miss those days.
chimaera01 🖒
This is up there with the best songs done by anyone......... seriously. It's genius!!
Where it hits at 3.06 i feel i could take off & fly...
One of the best comments ever! Made me smile and feel free.
This comment is officially correct. The world would be a better place if everyone on the planet got to listen to the build up to 3.04 at the same time and then danced
Best comment ever. 100-percent truth!
Goosebumps every time
Awesome song. Has been one of my favourites since I first heard it in 2000. Perfect summer song.
Heard this yesterday at the Dollar Tree and alot of people in the store were singing it while shopping...Great tune
+Kelley Henley Thanks that comment made my day slightly better. Godspeed
Weird how Doves are equally as big in the states as they are here.
I heard this at a 99 cent only store a few years ago! Aren’t they are worthy of being played at non-discount stores too?! 🤣
@@midtownkitten483 This song should be played at stores with the finest wines and cheeses, as it deserves the best and has aged very well.
I love when that happens.
back before youtube when MTV2 kept breaking new talent and your VCR was working overtime. good ole times
This album is an absolute gem. It deserves more recognition.

.....ALSO could've fit on gladhands La Di Da album - one VERY much sonically rooted in the early-mid 70's itself.....
27 years old have been listening to the doves since i was 12, they will always be famous
words can't explain this song. 5 stars, amazing.
This will Forever Be my Summer song.
Summer in the year 2000 was like living in a bubble where everything still felt like the '90s....I miss it so much. When life still made sense and we looked forward to what tomorrow would bring. The future seemed infinite.
The world was an awesome place when I saw this video on MTV2. Memories..

First heard this song while working for Abercrombie & Fitch. It's 2018 and I still remember this gem.
They deserve more acclaim. They are underrated. Their songs are very inspiring.
This is one of my favorite tracks in the early 2000s. Dope band.....
not Dope, Doves
This song brings me back to a point in my life where everything was so peaceful. I miss u mom
KFear21 My spring and summer of 2001 💘 (even though this song was released May 2000), I’m sorry about your Mom.
My life was in turmoil at the time. Songs like this saved me. RIP your mum.
totally melts me emotionally
Same.
One of those Feel good songs! Music isn't the same anymore!
this brings me back to those MTV2 days. Where you could listen to music all day, I was so happy to hear this tune play.
Same
Heard this song when I was a kid on project gotham racing for the original Xbox, been in love with this song since.
One of my all time favorites
Saw them live in Edinburgh a few years ago, one of the best gigs ever...
The colors of the video are a perfect style for the song. I listen to this over and over and then go catch some sun.
I can't believe how these guys aren't bigger, such a great sound. Radio is totally shit these days. Thank god for youtube and spotify. Straight onto my playlist.
I most certainly caught the sun today in the middle of the UK's biggest heatwave. Blinding tune. Classic.
Every day it comes to this
Catch the things you might have missed
You say, get back to yesterday
I ain't ever going back
Back to the place that I can't stand
But I, I miss the way you lie
'Cause I've always been misunderstood
Pulled apart and ripped in two
But I, I miss the way you lie
Catch the sun, before it's gone
Here it comes, up in smoke and gone
Catch the sun, it never comes
Cry in the sand, lost in the fire
I never really understood
Why I did not feel so good
But I, I miss the way you lie
'Cause I've always been up and down
Never wanted to hit the ground
But I, I miss the way you lie
Catch the sun, before it's gone
Here it comes, up in smoke and gone
Catch the sun, it never comes
Cry in the sand, lost in the fire
Song 🎶played sooo much on tv 📺 Before 9/11/2001...chilling 🥶...miss those days before 9/11 😞💔🖤
This song so reminds me of my daughters when they were little girls
Now they are in there twenties and never visit there dad ..
I miss you where you lie …..
These guys deserve to be as famous as Coldplay
This is one hell of a song. Seriously.
Clip and Song wonderful
First heard this playing in a Ruby Tuesday restaurant in February 2014 and loved it to bits ever since. Superb.
Their songs always puts me in a trance.
This is absolutely the best song no one has ever heard of.

Doves man........I am glad they exist....I don't know what else to say. :)

I was going into 12th. Saw it like at the tail end of 11th on MTV 2.. when MTV 2 had music.
