Thank you for your extremely thoughtful reaction. Great insights. You really need to watch “a courtship of rivals” probably one of the best basketball documentaries ever made about the Magic and Bird rise and rule. These two men saved the NBA and I watched it in real time. Again, keep reacting and your channel will continue to grow. If you do music you should give NF a listen. He is a phenomenal artist that Ren and others have modeled. His videos are fire and your channel will explode because of his rabid fans! Plus you will discover an amazing artist.
If I could subscribe again to support you I would. Thanks for your reactions . Nice to see someone humble and open minded. Larry bird was so exciting to watch and was so skillful. I remember having to watch those games late. I remember watching that championship and being so excited that he was coming to Boston. The Indiana state team haven't been to the same level since Larry bird or before. Larry had double Achilles surgery on both feet. He was amazing. Keep watching. You should watch courtship of rivals. It's the story of bird and magic.Larry got plenty of triple doubles. He did everything and was happiest when the ball was moving and his teammates were involved. Robert parish once said 5000 points he had came from Larry.
I had season tickets to the Knicks in the 1980's and saw Bird play many times. I even went to a couple of playoff games at the Boston Garden when the Knicks had Bernard King. I have Bird somewhere in the #2 or #3 range. Anyone who says that Lebron is better than Bird, does not understand the game of basketball. Great reaction and comments bro. Perhaps you can react to more Larry Bird. Maybe his iconic games? A good one is his 49 point triple double against Portland in the final year of his career when his back was basically jelly. He was wearing a back brace, and hits the most ridiculous three pointer to send the game into OT. Then finishes Portland off at the end.
I think it's disrespectful to call him The White Basketball player.. He played the game from childhood with Black men.. he didn't think of himself as White.. he thought of himself as a basketball player. I've heard so many interviews of his peers say how amazing he was.. And they played with heart back then.. All sports were better back in the day to me... it's not the same now.
His high school was very likely all white, and his university team certainly was. I would love to see some evidence. He didn’t have to play with blacks to be so good. He was just good.
The Indiana State Sycamores do still exist. Terre Haute, Indiana. This last season, they were in the NIT championship game against Seton Hall. Outside of the Hulman Center where the Sycamores play, you will see a small street named for Larry Bird, a statue of him on the grounds of the Hulman Center and on Wabash Ave...a brand new Larry Bird Museum. I have a video of the opening of the museum if you want to see it on my page. Indiana State University is a good school. One yes, where are still waiting for that next legendary player like Larry. But we have had many great athletes come through the school and/or the city. In Baseball - Tommy John, Zane Smith, Brian Dorsett, Clint Barmes, Wallace Johnson, Mordecai Brown and Sean Manea are connected to ISU and/or Terre Haute. In Football - Anthony Thompson and Tony McGee. In Basketball - Coach John Wooden (yes, that one), Larry Bird, Carl Nicks, Kurt Rambis and current NBA player, Craig Porter, Jr. All of whom are from here, played for ISU or settled here after their career ended (in the case of Mordecai Brown).
I hear they are calling Luca the new Larry Bird.. I don't know.. haven't watched him much but that's a tall order. But I've heard that when Magic go diagnosed with HIV.. Larry was one of first ppl he called.. and Larry supported him when in that day and time.. it was a death sentence, but Larry was there for him ..I just have Respect
You obviously know the game well. Among other things you made great observations about guys who hog the ball vs guys who don't. It's strange that this video doesn't have more views! wtf youtube?!
It is Indiana State Sycamores. Yes, it still exists and plays in the NCAA tournament occasionally. It is not a bad team. But, in Indiana, most teams are good. IU, Purdue, and Notre Dame come to mind.
Modern fans probably find it hard to imagine the state of basketball when Bird and Magic came on the scene. Basketball's rise as one of the most popular sports may not have come until much later if at all. How many of the greats from the 90s wouldn't have pursued a career in basketball without the rise in popularity?
Very perceptive, Indiana State is a mid major division one basketball team. They were never in the NCAA tournament before Larry Bird or after Larry Bird! That tells you all you need to know, Larry could take your local Junior college basketball team deep into the NCAA tournament!
the eye test only works to BACK UP THE STATS. it dont matter if a player LOOKS like he can ball if he DOESNT produce. Larry produced.. and if we see his career WINNING PERCENTAGE (2nd highest in NBA history behind only magic johnson) we can CLEARLY see that his stats and production LED to VICTORIES.. That said what you are SAYING about Bird and his TEAM oriented game is true. BUT if he wasnt PRODUCING, it would mean nothing.
One of the things that bother me about today's players is that they don't seem to be loyal to their teams. How many different teams has Lebron jumped to? Jordan stayed with the team that brought him to the league, so I'll give it to him. He, Bird, Magic, etc... Stayed with the team that drafted them and helped their team get better. Today's players jump for more money, instead of staying and helping their whole team get better. They're more selfish now.
Larry probably made more money with his commercials with MJ back in the day then he did with his contracts for the Celtics. Don't know that for a fact but I'm just thinking he wasn't making anything even close to what they are today
Kareem is a top 5 player of all time, so is Magic.. Parish and Machale were at the level of James worthy. NEITHER was a career 20 point scorer, NEITHER was a double double guy.. Magic, Kareem, Bird were ALL DOUBLE DOUBLE 20 point scoring GUYS.. No contest.. Celtics had ONE top 5 player and TWO top 50 all time players Lakers had TWO top 5 players and ONE top 50 player AND Pat Riley.. Bird called his OWN plays lol.
I think LeBron's free-throw average says mountains about him. He has *admitted* publicly to "upping" his flopping skills intentionally to get to the line more often, BUT his free-throw average has not improved at all throughout his 20-year run. A skill that he could have independently worked to hone to make each trip to the line more productive but has, instead, chosen not to. He'd rather just flex his muscles and flop around on the floor like a toddler. Players like Bird, and like Magic, etc., constantly and consistently worked to improve their individual skills and what they brought to the team throughout their careers. A *_WORLD_* of difference.
McHale and Parish were great, but neither was on the level of Kareem. Game, set, match. Also, on the go ahead 3 in the 87 series against the Lakers, bird literally TOLD JAMES WORTHY THE PLAY before the ball was inbounded..and Worthy still couldn't stop him.
Indiana State is still there. In Terra Haute Indiana. They had never been to the NCAA tournament till Bird. And I don't think they have ever been back again. Before they lost to Michigan State they were 33 and 0. Larry Bird had a higher career rebound average than Patrick Ewing. Which seems incredible. 🤔

I appreciate you watching this so many people under rate Bird. Everyone is MJ or LeBaby but they can’t hold a candle to Larry Legend. Subscribed
You are correct about the 80's 100%

Great thoughts and perspective BNH. Thank you brother!
Love the props to McHale. Dude was awesome in the post
1, one, ONE STEAL FROM A QUADRUPLE DOUBLE 🎉🎉🎉 WTF.. GOAT 🐐

100% the 80s was the pinnacle of basketball. the 90s was a steop down, but each decade SINCE has been stepping it down.
You obviously know the game well. Among other things you made great observations about guys who hog the ball vs guys who don't. It's strange that this video doesn't have more views! wtf youtube?!
Clayton's 🏀 videos are great! He also does a bunch of videos *"Making the Case"* for the *Best Team Ever!!*
And Rookie of the Year
Even if Larry had a bad shooting game he could still control the game
It is Indiana State Sycamores. Yes, it still exists and plays in the NCAA tournament occasionally. It is not a bad team. But, in Indiana, most teams are good. IU, Purdue, and Notre Dame come to mind.
Indiana State is a mid-major school. They never did anything before or after Bird. However, they did make the NIT this past season.
great reaction cheers.
Thanks
33 Lary the leg2 magic is our friend
Lots of goats, only one legend!
The Lakers had two players who are often listed in a top five: Magic and Kareem.
I enjoy how u see what i see.

Barkley said that McHale was the most difficult player he ever played against.
Clayton makes awesome content
They called him Jesus because he saved the sport. Edit: they will never be another LB in the NBA but Caitlin is showing that spark in the WNBA
Very perceptive, Indiana State is a mid major division one basketball team. They were never in the NCAA tournament before Larry Bird or after Larry Bird! That tells you all you need to know, Larry could take your local Junior college basketball team deep into the NCAA tournament!
The fact that they had to call him " Larry Legend "
Gives him his own designation!!
What other player is called a "Legend".????

The ISU never even smelled the college playoffs. They also haven't since.
Fun Facts: Lebron James is the NBA All-Time leader for Turnovers!
Next year he'll pass Kobe for the All-Time record for Missed Shots!
Sycamores went one time atw... with our goat 🐐 Larry Joe MF Bird
Never ranked before or after. Indiana St had only 1 run. The Bird run
💯
I hate when they say he was not athletic
Try this video, The 4 times Larry Bird proved he was from another planet. It shows his worst injuries, I think .
Magic said he was clear. Team player.

LeFlop has to monopolize the ball. I'd take 🐦 over anyone to enhance my team
He DID average a triple double
i live in terre haute where isu is. and they have never done anything since then.
Perish said 6,000 of my points are from passes from Larry
lefraud should have retired 10 tears ago

Kevin McHale was better than Worthy but Kareem is top 5.
