Problem with Bill Russell is there were only 8 teams at the time. That alone brings your chances to win a championship way higher. There was also a rule that the 1st seed would get to skip the 1st round of the playoffs so they only had to win 2 playoff series to win the championship compared to 4. Lastly he was average on offense, only 15ppg at a time in the league when guys like wilt could average 50ppg. Most his rings Bill Russell was the 3rd or 4th option on offense.

The reason these injuries have increased is because due to the space on the court you have to cover way more ground leading to injury. Not to mention 1988 the so called greatest season ever, he had an 18 ppg dropoff vs the pistons. Didn't even get to the finals. Didn't even get to the conference finals.
