AirshowStuffVideos : I'm Really Liking the Air Show the F/A-18C Hornet 🐝 is Putting On 🛩🛩👍 I Like the Helmet Cam View Also Watching the Instrument and Ground FLYING By 🛩🛩👍
"You ready?" "Yea sure, I'm just gonna taxi my F/A-18C out to fly around and make some kids ooh and aww and get some coeds wet, but first I gotta wait for these B-17s to taxi past me..." What a fucking job.
Capt'n Tread flight school for a year i think is around 50 thousand dollars. If you get a loan you could pay it off in 5 years if you become a commercial pilot.
Michaelthe Cuntcrusher o really? you fly joystick? know how to clear a building or town single handedly? know how to properly drive a crewed tank? Oh im sorry, forgot you played battlefield.
That has to be one of the best inflight videos that I've ever seen. Thank you Capt Michael Allan for taking us on that flight with you and the way you handled the Hornet. Top stuff.
It is a Navy Jet carrier based, very few if any Air Force or Army pilots have flown them. They’re all lucky and blessed to have the opportunity to actually do it too. Wished I wouldn’t have turned my life into hammered crap, I wanted to become a pilot in the military but life has a funny way of picking another path 😝
Awesome video! There are a lot of folks out there like me, that are HUGE military aircraft fans, but will most likely never get the chance to fly one, or even ride in one. High quality videos like this are those closest we can ever get. A big thanks for posting.
What you're experiencing is parallax, commercial jets tend to fly at much higher altitudes than what this video was showing, even though these jets are just going slightly faster than the airliners, gives the appearance of being a lot faster.
+Atomicsteamengine ...the average commercial airliner flies at about mach 0.75. the F-18 can hit level speeds of mach 1.5. and that's when they're travelling, not when they're diving like in the video..
Junn Kopf I'm fully aware of that, but these F/A-18's are not traveling at mach 1.5 are they? I'd bet that these F/A-18 at best are going at .75 mach. Just because they can get to mach 1.5 doesn't mean that they're at that speed constantly. Besides, it's illegal to go above mach 1 over the land.
Yes, the camera was strapped to the side of the pilots helmet. He is wearing a flight suit, it is tan colored while his G-suit is green, at a quick glimpse it looks like he's wearing shorts but he is not. Taking his hands off the controls is not a big deal.
Fantastic! Aged 5 I sat in a Sabre cockpit here in the UK when my Dad (wartime navigator RAF) knew some USAF pilots stationed over here. Now age 65 this video is the closest I shall ever get to knowing what it is like to fly in a US Navy Hornet! Wish you could come over and fly like that at the Fairford RIAT display in 2014!
Thankyou for this real experience! Music is fine but I've always wanted to hear the forces on the jet and was surprised at how much you can hear! Awesome.
That has to be one of the most entertaining in-flight vids I've ever seen. Thank you, Capt Michael Allan, for taking us on that flight and for handling the Hornet so well. It's fantastic.
Amazing! Love it without the music. It's so cool to see how these pilots fly and land. Compare to general aviation it's awsome to see them "break the rules" . Warriors.
Always appreciate people who take the time to shoot and give us the pilots POV. I like it when they start from outside the plane, and climb up to the cockpit. God Bless Our Military
This was nothing short of incredible! With each lift and dive I could feel the G's as if I were in the craft with him! Such a beautiful view and a wild ride! Thank you so much for posting this!
This video shows perfectly how low level and high speed leaves little margin for error when close to the ground or even approaching it from thousands of feet above it pointed down. There is slim to zero time to correct for an error or if something goes wrong with the aircraft.
Best ride along video yet. Thanks was a joy. Amazing how fast these thing can maneuver, actually hear the wind tearing and can see it. Just amazing stuff, faster than I imagined too unreal how fast that plane can climb. Something about the sound of a jet engine and planes, always been such a relaxing soothing sound for me.
gotta love military pilots. from the moment he applies full power on the runway every single thing he does after that until touchdown is choreographed to the second and drilled to perfection. a glimpse of how awesome at something a human can become!
One of the best fighters out there. My uncle, worked for McDonald Douglas for years, and one time he was able to show me the wreck of the # 2 test bird, after the pilot punched out over the Patuxent River. What a mess!!! Not a lot left. Nice video!! Thank you for your service.
Thank you so much for this video. There are many jet fighter planes that so many of us love. There is something about the F-18 and especially, the Legacy version though that never gets old and I have never been able to pin point what exactly the physical or intangible quality is about the F-18 that has this appeal. I was lucky enough to see the Blue Angles in 1985 with the A-4 Skyhawks which were amazing. Then was able to see them again two years later right after they switched to the F-18.
It comes from you. Your personal experiences make it special to you. For me it's the F-16 that is iconic and then some British planes and Russian Sukhoi
Follow The Grow even if it was a 2 man plane the pilot sits in the front you fucking idiot. Don’t go round calling people idiots if you’re a dumbass yourself
+David There were actually eight! airshowstuff.smugmug.com/2010AirshowsAviation/Thunder-Over-Michigan-2010/RS-TOM2010/i-gjcZMHw (One was moved when the photo was taken)
+Derek Wall Well I'm not ASV but I will give you an answer which is...sometimes! Lol. If the aircraft is a trainer variant then there will be two sets of controls with the student up front and instructor in the back. In other aircraft with two seats (A-6, F/A 18-D/F, F-14, F-15 E) the other seat is designed for a bombardier/navigator/systems operation type function and is manned (or womaned) by Weapon Systems Officer or Naval Flight Officer (who is NOT a pilot, that's a Naval Aviator). The B-2 on the other hand is flown by two fully qualified pilots with the mission commander flying right seat and can be fully operated from either position.
What an AWESOME job to have! The dedication, hard work, and sacrifices sure hope paid off for these fine pilots! Looks so peaceful up there in the sky.
Beautiful! The sound was soothing as we could only hear the soft hum of that smooth engine. Nice. Thank you! The head-cam makes all the difference. I really felt this flight. Thank you again.
Wow, awesome. I like how you can see where the pilot is looking to maintain his bearings, and that he braces himself for the rolls. Seems like the high angle of attack maneuvers are used in bursts.I wish the camera were in the center so we could see the HUD.
Awesome footage .. at least four B - 17`s, B - 25`s, a B - 24!!! and a P- 51! And I`m sure there was plenty more. What a show, and all from an F/A -18 ... excellent!
+YUKU The camera was not hooked up to record anything on the radio, but there isn't much to hear during the demo anyway. The airspace was cleared for 5nm and the pilot doesn't really talk to the ground while flying except for landing clearance for the touch and go and at the end of the demo.
The pilot is clearly stabilizing himself around some of the maneuvers he's putting he and his fighter though; also: re-adjusting in the seat -it's TIGHT in there ...
SuperLuminal Man would say also it's like when you drive a car and you get it up to sometimes a pretty high speed, when you come into a turn, you sometimes want to grab onto something, like you car's door handle, or like mine, they have handles on the roof of the car......
But don't fighter pilots have seat belts and other straps to keep themselves pretty much attached to the seat so when they are doing something like dogfighting
I was actually sitting in a car with somebody one time and all of a sudden he started driving like a bat out of hell, even though I was completly seat belted in, I actually grabbed those handles with both hands and held on for dear life, I dont know, just felt a tad bit safer holding on to that handle
браво! ... все войны начинаются с использования высоких (передовых) технологий а заканчиваются на земле по колено в грязи где руки по локоть в крови и с автоматом калашникова в руках .....
I've never gotten a ride-along in a fighter. But this gives me a very familiar sensation I can only relate to my 1st time on a 600cc Supersport. EVERYTHING is designed for high-throttle, lightweight performance. I absolutely love machines like these!
For 25 of my 29 Years in the Navy this was my Job, Having logged over 10,870 hours and 1,185 Carrier Landings. As a Second Generation Naval Aviator of a 5 Generation Navy Family, I would do it all over again. My Daughter is 10 years into her Career as a Naval Aviator.
have always wondered why this jet has 3 rear view mirrors on it, I mean are those there just like on a car or truck, just so he can see if there are any other fighter jets that may be following him, and if so do one of these mirrors act like the side view mirror on a car which has the warning that Objects in the mirror may be actually closer than they appear???????
The rear view mirrors are there also to let the pilot look at the rear part of the plane. If there is a large fluid leak or a fire back there he might see it in the mirrors first before he gets an indication of trouble showing up in the cockpit.
I just love these videos mainly because when the pilots put their hands on the grips it just gives you such a great sense of gravity and Gforce / weightlessness. :)
I have no clue why I’ve ever doubted myself in doing this but I’m back again and it’s my favorite thing to look at and I want to fly one again even more than before
+John Smith well it's just a different plane the start up procedures are pretty much the same in any fighter jet... Who knows peple could be like HAHAHA YOU NERD U PLAY FLOGHT SIMS and when the apocalypse comes where sitting in a10 wRthogs while there being eaten by zombies
One hell of a power to weight ratio. That rate of acceleration from a dead stop on takeoff was awesome. The low altitude, high flying speed was awesome too. Sure beats walking. I feel the need,... the need for speed.
Amazing how some are so unbelievably ignorant about some things. Ex: Does he fly with the 'capsule' open? Isn't it dangerous to fly with out a G suit? And the worst - Why not have just one or two buttons in the cockpit? Duh !!!!
Harold Reardon The canopy is closed. have a look just before take off. He is in full pilot gear except gloves, so he has a g suit. g suit isn't the end all argument when pulling gs

Wow the terrain goes by so fast compared to looking out the window of a commercial jet.
Fighter jets are like atheletes, they are really fast and maneuverable. While commercial planes are like fat people, slow and very hard to maneuver.
What you're experiencing is parallax, commercial jets tend to fly at much higher altitudes than what this video was showing, even though these jets are just going slightly faster than the airliners, gives the appearance of being a lot faster.

Yep, Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti, MI.
The jet and crew are from VFA-106, the single ship F-18C demo team.

That's why I don't think they should be flying like that. Too risky. I suppose it is good training to have for actual combat?
So glad there is no music. The worst thing about most military video posts on TH-cam is the music.

What an amazing experience! I love it!! :)
Just one question: how does he fly that thing without a g-suit? isn't that kinda unsafe?
What makes you think that he isn't wearing one?
well, his arms would have wayy too short sleeves plus his knees are visible from time to time
Tracomaster A g-suit only covers the legs where it can squeeze. You don't want the suit squeezing the knee because it's a joint.
so they leave the knees open? :/
Yeah, it just covers the thighs and calves.

Pilots get made fun of by other branches but once you sit in the thing, you realize how cramped it is.
Should've put the camera on top of the helmet...
Not enough room between the canopy and the helmet.

One question why does he keep grabbing the left handle in the cockpit
The pilot is clearly stabilizing himself around some of the maneuvers he's putting he and his fighter though; also: re-adjusting in the seat -it's TIGHT in there ...
He's re-adjusting, adjusting himself in the seat.. and yeah, it's pretty tight in there.

Thats my favorite part or the Game
Roads...Where you're going you don't need...roads.
CHICKEN SALAD doc brown !
One hell of a power to weight ratio. That rate of acceleration from a dead stop on takeoff was awesome. The low altitude, high flying speed was awesome too. Sure beats walking. I feel the need,... the need for speed.
Wow amazing to ride along with the pilot like that. Truly an incredible feat of dynamics!
Battlefield IRL. XD
He is in full pilot gear except gloves, so he has a g suit. g suit isn't the end all argument when pulling gs
i don’t think it would cost that much to fly because i think the gas station will give him a discount because he is buying a lot of fuel
because all gas stations carry jet fuel
FrozenCereal Duh
u might be the dumbest person ever. stop watching these videos
Thanks for the ride captain! :)
Very cool, I worked around these jets when I was in the Navy but never got to experience what it was like to fly in one. Great video.
Only In Battlefield 3
