Jr Alana Yes, same here. It is my belief that addiction is the Rosetta Stone for fully feeling at home in the turbulent waters of Naked Lunch. Not saying they don't exist, but I have never encountered a "civilian" that read NL and dug it. On any comment section of a Burroughs video, the vast majority are addicts, recovering or otherwise. If you don't get the bread for that next bundle, you will feel the junkie equivalent of the Plantation owner's whip---you are in every way a slave to junk. @@1060michaelg - I was only sixteen when I came across it and had little experience of anything in life at that tender age. Shit happens...I suppose. I managed to avoid being sucked into a whirlpool of petty theft by sticking mostly to methadone and pills once I was hooked. I'd still score junk if I had the money but was I f*ck going out shoplifting or any of that embarrassingly lame stuff. Thank heavens for the NHS and prescription opioids or I'd probably be dead...
