    Little tip for you, when you do the headlamp bulbs again the key/collar you twisted off. You can actually lock that into place with the metal clip first then screw the bulb straight into the collar lol I had the same problem with space and worked a lot easier for me. Great videos mate I'm a new subscriber 👍🏻

    Led only work well with projector headlights because of the clean beam cut-off. When fitted to reflector headlights like these, the beam will be illegal because it'll be scattered and will blind oncoming drivers.

      @@GrooveOn What a shame, I have a Types S GT 2007 petrol, glass roof. Great little cars the V-tec engine comes alive at mid revs. I've got to do a head light restoration on mine very soon as they are fading & dull it lets the car down, hence why im looking to upgrade the bulbs to LED's as well at the same time. This video will help a lot, good camera work and angles. Thanks again

      your absolutely correct, I heard that new law recently:
      # special notice 01-21: headlamp conversions:
      Changes to MOT testing rules for headlamp conversions using high intensity discharge (HID) or light emitting diode (LED) bulbs.
      CRAP isn't it ! on the plus side I found that the LED did give my some buzz on the radio, so went back to normal bulbs...

  • @Palafury
    @Palafury 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Did the lights feel too bright after driving around? Did the MOT chaps not mention that it's not allowed?

    • @GrooveOn
      @GrooveOn  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good questions when I created this video the DVLA laws around the use of LED lights was different. It has recently changed and will now be possibly fail at the MOT station, however it depends on on the judgement of the garage. With regards to the use of LED lights in normal halogen design light reflectors, they perform much better than just sticking in aftermarket hid kits, this is because the light rays do not get scattered as much.
      With all this said I actually removed the LED headlights as I was finding despite using toroids to suppress the high frequencies that LEDs produce it gave me too much static noise through the radio, I've since reverted to just using double brightness halogen bulbs as a compromise

    Does replacing halogen headings to LED cause problem during MOT?

    • @GrooveOn
      @GrooveOn  ปีที่แล้ว

      If it was a xenon then I understand what you are saying it would have a different light scattering and would fail, but as the LEDs are designed to work with your standard back reflective then it should be fine

      Hi there, you may not have realised that those bulbs 7443 although in the image they look clear, they glow red, if you have a look in the description... thanks.

    If you were going to do the front indicators what bulbs would you use?

    • @GrooveOn
      @GrooveOn  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The front indicators have two bulbs, the main is 581 12V PY21W Amber Bulb, clear lens and there is a smaller redundancy bulb, which you can just leave as it is. If you get led bulbs, get the type that are py21 equivalent and obviously in amber, lots on eBay. Getting to the indicators is a real pain though, you have to either take bumper corner off or remove wheel and lining.

      I usually find you get a longer life than normal bulbs as led have a higher life span. I would say 2 -3 years at least.

      I have done the reversing lights, was a doddle.
      Considering the headlights but wary of ruining the beam pattern. Halogen lights are poor but I don't want to risk dazzling anyone, there are so many LED and Xenon lights that are truly horrible.
