how could ppl dislike this? if the king singers sang to me, i'd probably cry. i'm sorry....i would. these men are the greatest singers in the world to me.
This is sooo cute. The best singers in the world sing to her and she´s awestruck, but the chip in the card sends her rocking. That´s toddlers for you. What a lucky little girl.
Your concern is very kind, however this was during a private KS rehearsal and Bella has known these guys her whole life. It wasn't stressful in anyway. And there are much worse things than teaching a child how to be polite. I uploaded it back in 2011 so I could send the link our families but have been surprised and touched by how many people love it. Bella still watches it all the time and it means the world to her. Thanks to everyone for all the lovely comments. Maybe I should post Happy Birthday at 4! :)
It was a different group, but the Kings Singer's sang to me live, in person, at UCLA on my 21st birthday in 1992. A very memorable birthday for sure. :)
I am so jealous. I've always dreamed of a happy birthday song that doesn't go disastrously off-key at the octave jump. This is so beautiful I'd cry if it was sung to me.
I honestly come back to this when I need a pick me up. I love how you can see on Bella's little face that she just wants the tissue paper 🤣😍💖 - Toddlers will always be toddlers. This is so sweet, it always brings a smile to my face
a Bb major chord, it's just that you have a grace note in the melody on that part : [F Maj] ha(C)ppy(C) Bir(C one octave higher)thday(A) Dear(F) [Bb] Be(E) lla(D) I put the notes in parenthesis, and the underlying chords in brackets. The grace note is that E (on "Be-") going to a D (on "-lla"). That D is the 3rd of the Bb major chord, and that E natural (not flat !) is like an augmented 4th for the Bb major Chord. Which gives it a nice spacey, lydian kind of sound.Hard to explain without paper
Cutest thing ever! I love how at the beginning she's listening to them like, "Are you guys actually singing or is something else going on in the background?" She looks so utterly smitten and also pleasantly confused. xDDD So cute!
Mogę oglądać ten clip - w nieskończoność ... Normalna próba , wizyta małej Córeczki jednego z Członków zespołu i perfekcyjne wykonanie "Happy Birthday" , dla mnie - rewelacja !!!
I think I would have been about Bella's age when I first heard the Kings singers. My parents bought me a tape called 'kids stuff', an album of songs, narrated by Dame Judy Dench. I always insisted they put it on when we drove anywhere. I'm 33 now.. Still listen to it occasionally :) Bella is well named. Beautiful girl.
Sorry i'm a bit late, but I've tried to figure out what chords they're singing and it seems to me like it's your regular I-V-I-IV-I-V-I progression F major, with a twist at the end : so F to C, back to F, Bb to F, then C and here comes the surprise : C# major 7, then F# major 7 and finally F major. The common note sung by the soprano is an F (or an E#, which sounds the same, on the C#Maj7 and F#Maj7 chords) which is why it "works" I think.
In classical harmony this would be more accurately explained as Dflat7 (a "deceptive" cadence going from V to flat VI, common in classical music), followed by Gflat7 (flat II), resolving to an F major with an added G in the middle.
Even a simple happy birthday will transform in a beautiful harmonic piece. Bella is sure one lucky girl, her dad's a KS-er, and they'll perform on your birthday spontaniously. I'm jealous... (and quietly blaming my dad why he can't sing as good as the KS) XD
By the way, I had renamed the chords after my first "analysis" in another comment, with more flats than sharps (Dbmaj7 instead of C# for instance), and I think someone else had replied to my first comment with more accurate chords.
Actually I suppose it makes more sense to think of those chords as Db major 7 and Gb major 7 rather than C# and F#, which are a lot further in the cycle of fifths. And so the common note would still be an F throughout, and not an enharmonic E#
Hi there, thanks for the clarification. This sounds reasonable as harmonic substitutions and i tried it out. Nevertheless, the chord they are singing on the name "Bella" within the piece still is a mystery to me. Can anyone help?
Whats the piece they are singing? Obviously its "Happy Birthday" but i wonder if one get buy the score of this little piece. Can anyone help me on that?
Only not very wise parents can cause such a big stress to such a small child. Instead, they could organize a small and quiet supper at home and sing "Happy birthday" to Bella themselves instead of pushing a small girl on stage, filming her, telling her to give a hug to everyone and say thank you to everyone. It's too much for a child at the age of two years.

Absolutely perfect balance through the parts. Amazing.
This is sooo cute. The best singers in the world sing to her and she´s awestruck, but the chip in the card sends her rocking. That´s toddlers for you. What a lucky little girl.
That has got to be the most beautiful happy birthday song that blessed the ears.

How truly lovely, and how indicative of the KS loving kindness! Thanks for the post.
WHAT A PRESENT! at my age I would still definetly be so excited, happy and blessed with such present... Happy Birthday for you by the King Singers :)
What an exquisite rendition of Happy Birthday...lucky little Bella!

Actually, the most important spicy element in that chord is not just the E, but the 7th, an A flat.
haha this is the cutest thing ever :D The most simplest of songs can be turned into something beautiful. Lucky girl :)
This is just so beautiful. So So beautiful!
A beautiful video! A very lucky princess!
OH MY GOD. This is this most adorable thing on TH-cam. And Johnny Howard, stop with your adorable face. This was great. Made my morning

Beautiful I would love to be in a choir that spreads joy like that.
Cutest thing ever! I love how at the beginning she's listening to them like, "Are you guys actually singing or is something else going on in the background?" She looks so utterly smitten and also pleasantly confused. xDDD So cute!

King's Singers singing Happy Birthday to Bella

She is only 2 yrs old .. How sweet is this...

Makes a day
涙が出た・・・
Wow, people dislike this sweet video too!!! Tragic
indeed you're right !
The dflat major 7 has an add 9 btw... Timothy's singing it (e flat i believe)
When she hands him her tinkerbell doll....;U;

Is there a score of your birthday song to Bella?
Where can you hire these guys? :p

😍🧒🏼😘😘😘
The four people who downvoted this, no soul
anyone know who's arrangement this is / able to transcribe it?
@Guichotpresident amen to that!!
I think it's Chris Gabbitas' daughter, i'm not sure. Or it's someone invited... xD
Ahh so nice! Whos daughter is this?
I think that's Chris's kid! That would be amazing if it was!
After having the King Singers sing happy birthday to you, doesn't being given a tacky card that chimes out a tinny greeting seem kinda redundant? O_o
hm, could they sing also for me?
Score plz
That moment at 1:37 when the guy scratches himself right in front of a little girl...
Who is a father of this girl? Paul? It's cute
Here is my transcript for string quartet:

This girl doesn't even know what she's getting.

Rubbish. You should learn something about human growth and development.
bigstof11 wow you're dumb. So dumb. You don't even know this girl, or the parents. They know what's best for their daughter. Not you.
bigstof11 it wasn't even a performance. Anyone with an ounce of brain can tell that this is a rehearsal.
Man, this arrangement is soooo wasted on a 2 year-old, even a KS-kid. :)
