2:29 The moment Gareth realized “Oh sh**!!!! I’m singing with the King’s Singers!!!” Precious!!!

This was my favorite KS line-up, and sadly they are all retired from the group now.

It's interesting hearing them talk about how they create that sound - the blending, no vibrato etc. I could listen to these chaps 24/7!

The Long Day Closes was a Victorian poem set to music by Sir Arthur Sullivan (of Gilbert and Sullivan fame) which was published in 1868. It was used in the film...but is not "from" the film!

1:05 "It seems to work well"... What a delightful English demureness.

obviously the tenor is very good but his voice also sticks out, showing how much crazy work it must be for them to blend that well.

I thought the lineup from the 80's was by far the best. "That Lonesome Road" was a James Taylor song that Simon Carrington, a barritone, got ahold of and they just killed it.

It's kind of like the high school kid who was telling former NFL (American Football) great Deacon Jones, "I'll bet I could be in the NFL!" Wrong thing to say to even a retired NFL-er! Deacon Jones then proceeded to put an NFL lick on the kid, and it must have rattled him so much that after that, he kind of cowered around him for the rest of the practice! 😀
That said, the older I get, the more I realize *how much work* it takes to get into the elite of the professional ranks, let alone just get into the professional ranks! Of this I can assure you: The established ones will not accommodate YOU, but YOU have to accommodate THEM! And that means being a good team player, and as the one chap said, the auditioners tend to sing out too loud, in order to be heard, whereas you are *not* supposed to be heard, outside of the context of the group. It is a typical rookie mistake, to be sure!
And well I know that, as in the groups I tend to sing in, I typically have to carry the section, because not many in the section can even read music, so I sing out the pitches to them, and also have to help keep them in tune. That attitude has not gone well for me in better choirs, as they are *all* good singers, and don't need any of my assistance in those matters!
    We live and learn!
What a great video. Thanks for posting this! Much entertainment, but also a real education.

It's quite obvious the auditionee must be able to read music and have a really good ear.

Hey! How are you doing? I started vibing to this dude who goes by the name Cammy-Kun he is really great dude, and I hope more people check out his art instead of sleeping on him. You should check him out, he usually makes music about bullying, depression and other cool topics people can relate to. You would love it, I promise.
