I’ve been following you for the long haul. Please don’t neglect that rust. Before you know it you’ll be looking for a new cab. Get a Denny T fuel pin. The best modification for your pump. If you fix that rust I’ll be your best friend.
I know, it kills me not to be able to address it now. Unfortunately I don't have a garage where I currently live and can't properly address it the way I want to. I'll probably be moving in about a year and I can address it then. In the meantime I guess I could sand it down and throw a coat of paint on it or something...or oil it. Yeah I forgot to mention I've got the THD fuel pin in the pump and I've turned up the max fuel screw about a 1/2 turn from run away.
I bought the “Sister” to this truck second hand in 1993, mine was a factory 5 speed and was also two tone white and grey. The original owner said the reason he traded it because the ride was too rough! She did ride a bit rough on the Louisiana roads at highway speeds. Had 36 inch mudders and a 12k winch/bumper on mine, which it needed because she was a bit heavy. Drove it until 1999 when a car pulled out in front of me and bent the frame...I did not get a scratch, but the Camaro was literally cut in half! There were no more frames available so she was totaled... thanks for the memories.
12:08 288,xxx km (178,xxx mi) Soo basically it's just now sorta broken in lol The 92 D250 my parents owned, custom ordered from Dodge in Oct of 91, took delivery in Dec of 91 at their local dealer, think I was 4 years old?. All black, slate grey interior LE Long Bed Supercab, 5spd, 3.55 POSI 12v. They had to park it sometime in 2015/16? Became the truck to drive around the property for awhile. Because both my parents didnt feel comfortable driving it on the street being their knees werent as good in their upper 60s now. Instead of it slowly rotting away they gifted it to a family friend in late 2021. Its almost back on the road, some minor rewiring from the original wiring from 91/92. Odometer stopped working in 2003? at 128,xxx miles. Log book shows it at roughly 308,xxx miles around 2019.
That's a cool story! A lot of these trucks don't get driven a lot surprisingly. I almost prefer driving the higher mileage trucks as they are worn in better 😎
HAHA, i guarantee it's still in in that junkyard somewhere off the i90 in South Dakota..I remember we were like..man we gotta get rid of this grandpa cap. Called the junk yard and asked if they would buy it, answer was "no", then we said "well how about free", then it was a "bring it on by!" lol
...Dad here....it's hard to believe that was almost 6 years ago! It was an awesome trip and great memories for both of us!!! ..... "can't believe you gave the topper away".... Lolll😂
nice looking truck man I've followed you from the beginning i swapped my auto to a manual after watching your videos. sucks the rust on the drip rail looks just like mine. i painted mine a few years back and it kills me it rusts there apparently that was a common problem with these trucks
Yeah it's annoying. Really the only rust spot on the entire truck. I haven't seen any other issues on the truck since I've owned it and I like to keep the underside oiled every year. Just that darn drip rail.. had some bubbles when I bought it 6 years ago and now it's just getting worse and worse. Will have to address it soon...
Your truck is my dream truck wanna trade haha jk. Finding a firstgen in Montana is hard. trying to work my butt off for a 24 valve Cummins with a 6 speed.
Hi Tyler, been following you for awhile as well. Given the drip rail you've shown. The rust on the inside will be 4 times worse. The whole basis of my crew conversion was due to that issue alone. By the time it reach's the outside like that. It's too late. Better look for a replacement cab. Such ashame Dodge shorted the corrosion protection on these 1st gen's of our's. Border line criminal. Thumbs up as always !
Yeah it's a shame. I'll probably end up tackling it next year or whenever I get a garage. It's a bit of work but nothing I'm not prepared for. Haha. I've dealt with rusty cars before and it's all just replacing metal! Thanks for watching!
Yep I had a cluster from the parts truck that I swapped that portion of the cluster out with the blocking plate. You wouldn't be able to tell this truck was factory automatic at all!
Don't plan on selling it, or my other truck any time soon! 💯 Thanks man! My plan for this truck is once I get a place with a garage is do a bit of a restoration on it and fix the rust issues on the drip rail.
I have a uniden pro 520xl. I'm planning on making a video about the whole setup. I find it works very well, it's a small little unit bit it fits well in it's spot and I've used it to talk to someone from the top of a mountain over 1000kms away from me.
It's called Extang Classic Platinum. Check out their website and just put in 92 dodge w250 with an 8' bed. Been a great cover. If you need in and out of your bed frequently however though I wouldn't recommend it, as the snaps take quite a while to do up properly. I like the classic look with the buttons though.
haha I'll have to watch the video on this. I just have a piece of copper wire with bend as a pull handle at the end as my manual shut off. Not pretty, but works. haha
Nice looking Rig .
🎉
That driving segment was pure relaxation... How enjoyable.

You have one of the best trucks ever made

thats the nicest closing first gen tailgate ive ever seen man i wish mine done that lmao
I still remember on the forums when you went and picked this up and drove it home with your dad. Still can't believe you gave the topper away 🤦♂️

I wish mine was in as great shape as yours! She's a beaut!
Thanks!
Beautiful truck
When you guys did the transmission swap did you change the cluster or just leave the auto one in the has PNRD123?
Yep I had a cluster from the parts truck that I swapped that portion of the cluster out with the blocking plate. You wouldn't be able to tell this truck was factory automatic at all!
@@OvensGarage Nice, so is it just a plate that covers the automatic gear indicator?
@@outdoormountainman yeah you take out the prnd12 indicator and then a small black plastic plate screws into its place.
@@OvensGarage perfect and thanks for the information
Never sell that truck cause if you can find one now like this you’ll pay through the nose. Sweet rig man👍
Don't plan on selling it, or my other truck any time soon! 💯 Thanks man! My plan for this truck is once I get a place with a garage is do a bit of a restoration on it and fix the rust issues on the drip rail.
@@OvensGarage try pb blaster surface shield. Again excellent truck
@@davidmount7560 yeah I've heard good things about surface shield. We have product called krown and rust check that I use here in Canada on my trucks.
Just bought a 91 W250 5 speed with 300 for 14,000. Worth every dollar
i just bought a 1992 w250, im in ontario i was wondering what kind of oil do you run?
I use amsoil for all my fluids. 15w-40 signature series, EAo80 oil filter, and EABP100 bypass filter
Are you running the 285's on the stock 16x6 steel wheels? the Dana 70 rear is quite narrow so I was thinking about going with the 285's.
Nice truck
Yes I am! The shop told me the wheels were a bit narrow..but I've had them on there about three years now no issues.
What CB radio do you have in the truck and how well does it work?
I have a uniden pro 520xl. I'm planning on making a video about the whole setup. I find it works very well, it's a small little unit bit it fits well in it's spot and I've used it to talk to someone from the top of a mountain over 1000kms away from me.
Do these truck have A/C? I found a mint 1992 with 57,000 original KM’s but A/C is pretty much my deciding factor lol
Yes, mine has A/C. Not sure if all trucks have A/C but mine does and it works pretty well.
Subbed
Thanks for the sub!
@@OvensGarage one question for you friend. When swapping the trans why not go with a 6 speed. Gets much better MPG
Where did you get the shift knob?
The shift knob is a Hurst pistol grip (aluminum). I got it on Amazon.
How much was it
What exact tonneau do you have covering your 8 foot bed?
It's called Extang Classic Platinum. Check out their website and just put in 92 dodge w250 with an 8' bed. Been a great cover. If you need in and out of your bed frequently however though I wouldn't recommend it, as the snaps take quite a while to do up properly. I like the classic look with the buttons though.
Which is the top speed??
I don't really go over 110kmh
Is the manual fuel shut off a kit or is that something you came up with? Cheers.
Its something you rig up, he has a video on it. Fuel shut off selenoid delete.
@@KeystoneOutdoorsman Awesome thanks
Yep I've got a video on it called FSS delete. It's just a pull cable rigged up with a piece of steel and tied to the manual shut off on the VE pump.
@@OvensGarage It looks like a great antitheft device.
haha I'll have to watch the video on this. I just have a piece of copper wire with bend as a pull handle at the end as my manual shut off. Not pretty, but works. haha
