Thanks. I love how light my electric auger is. Ion has a 3rd generation auger out now that's even lighter. It's so much different than hauling a gas auger around.
Ive been following your channel for quite some time now. Ive follwed and learned through all seasons and have even gotten some friends into fishing because of your videos. Ive learned the majority of what i know about fishing because of this channel. Thank you kindly for all your hard work, its truly appreciated!
Me and my buddy are going for our first ice fishing trip tomorrow. This was super informative, and showed me a couple things I need to bring that I wouldn't have thought of. I'll definitely be bringing my ice cleats, getting a rope, and also a scoop. The tips on how to move the jig were also helpful. Looking forward to a good trip!
Thanks. Ice got up to about 3 inches thick here a few weeks ago but then melted. Now it's back to about 2 inches so we can start getting out there on foot again. It's been a weird season so far.
I can't wait to try ice fishing today, thanks for all the helpful videos. I bought an auger and was hoping thats all i would need, but looks like i might have to break the bank lol.
A sonar unit is very helpful for sure. Other than that, a few tungsten jigs and a panfish rod will get you a lot of success. You can even get by without an auger if you just fish old holes drilled by other fishermen.
You forgot one Major thing for beginners. Always fish with a buddy as beginner for ice fishing, preferably someone else with experience in ice fishing.
@@jasonfuqua4284 I went to were it was only 6 feet deep. I still caught two crappie & largemouth bass. the rain melted all the ice here now. & a ice storm is headed this way.
@jasonfuqua4284 fr 😂 I wouldn't care to actually be good at fishing if I was with people having a good time.. now I've made it a challenge with myself lmao Thats not to say I don't enjoy fishing with other people. But since moving from my home state, I haven't met a single person to go fishin with.
True, because that's what I use now. But I mention that there are other options to make a hole, including just popping through someone else's old holes. An expensive auger is not essential to go ice fishing.
You don't need all that fancy equipment, get yourself an old ass hand auger that you found at the good table from the dump, use your normal 2 peace bass rod but only use half get yourself a milk-crate to sit and you'll figure out how thick the ice is when you drill the hole or you'll know it's thick enough if you don't fall through and BOOM your ice fishing on the cheap
I've gotta say the electric augers have come a long way and they cut down a lot on weight. Great content like always!

Thank you for your comments - I really appreciate hearing from viewers and I'm glad to hear that you've learned a lot from my videos!
Wish I saw this sooner! Thanks Nat! Great stuff
Glad you enjoyed it - thanks for the comment.
Been fishin for 15 years and never tried Ice fishing, just bought a cheap combo gonna try it out this winter
Cool. Make sure to get a spring bobber of some sort. You'll miss almost every bite without one (with panfish in particular)
@@FishingwithNat no panfish where I’m fishin I’m gonna be targeting pike
@@HurtenAlbertan OK cool. Try some jigging spoons then
As always, you covered it all! Lot of very good info here.
Thanks for the feedback
I am a Scottish fisherman, and I am heading to Canada for ice fishing at the end of the year! I have never been ice fishing, but this was helpful
Wonderful - thanks for the feedback and good luck!
Heading here this year!?

Very helpful for a beginner learning how to fish on ice. Great vid
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks
thank you for the tips now i know what to do when ice fishing
Cool - good luck!
The spikes for getting out of an ice hole are cool, I’ve never been ice fishing but would love too .
They are simple tools but can save your life. Ice fishing is fun and very different than open-water fishing.
I would love to see some videos on how to find ice fishing spots.
Good suggestion - thanks
wow lures and gadgets, last thing i need is a good hot coffee.
You can't go wrong with lures, gadgets, and coffee.
Great Video! Good luck this season.

Thank you, feeling great with the basic list i just made!
Perfect - good luck on the ice! Things will be freezing up around here next week I think.

Absolutely. Very helpful for success and safety reasons.
If we had a buddy to show us we wouldn’t be watching this video though.

@@kevinerbs2778 Awesome. Ice is pretty unsafe here right now too.

Great video! Thx

Do you ever rest? This winter _ ice fishing show is incredible 👌...informative and so clearly addressed 👍
Thanks - yes, I rest once in a while! Feeling tired today after a couple of long nights editing. I appreciate the comment.
Funny how the first image is a multi hundred dollar drill. After 45 years of sincere ice fishing I'm still using a hand auger. TIGHT LINES ALL

im fishing in lake saint clair for wintertime gamefish
Awesome. Lots of things to catch in St. Clair!
good video brother
