He’s one of the best on lakes full of walleyes. Still waiting for him to come to Michigan and show us how it’s done lol. Gets kinda boring over the years watching the same routine. Same lakes stacked full of eyes.
@lloydbeebe3716 I grew up in Hesperia and Ludington, Michigan. My dad and I spent all our time on trout and steelhead tho. Now I'm in Iowa chasing walleye and smallies.
Last spring, just after opener, i caught 27 walleye in 4 nights of fishing. All caught on a #11 black and white floating rapala. Its a post-spawn spot with all males too. The best walleye fishing in my lifetime at 56 years old.
I was hesitant to use the Flasher mode on my new Striker 4 plus but after this video I’m actually looking forward to trying it! Not as intimidating as it looks after watching this video. Thanks for the great editing, really helpful in figuring things out!
I appreciate the video, especially the tips you shared. This kind of content is what made me a Tom Boley fan. Now, if we could just get some ice here in Northern Michigan....
Great day of pounding walleyes like how you explain how you use the baits to catch the fish. Thanks for sharing your videos have a great 2024 happy new year.
Fried winter walleye is patently the best thing a man can put in his mouth. Please invite me! I live in Dallas TX and can’t get this golden goodness down here
Not that you'll really care, but I've heard holding the pout by the belly with both hands they will straighten out. They dont like their gills touched. Always enjoyable content. Glad you're still getting on em given the twists and turns of this ice aeason
Awsome video good to see the flasher again there are so much livescope vids right now i dont blame yous if i could afford id be using too but not hapenin yet ive leared alot from you Tom over the years really appreciate it
I cant wait to get out this weekend wish I didnt have to drive as far north though. Also Tom I enjoyed your explanation of why you like the rod you use, that seems so long but I guess it works!
What is your ice auger setup? You make it look so easy, I bought the drill adapter for my hand crank auger and it doesn't seem to be as easy as you make it look
Great video. I moved from Texas to Minnesota this summer and was trying to get into ice fishing. Do you have any beginner set up guide videos or something?
Just started watching your videos and love all the great info! I’m supposed to be ice fishing out in central Minnesota between Nevis and Leech lake area in a couple of weeks. Are you based around there? Any chance that we’ll actually have ice?
Классная рыбалка👍я тоже очень люблю зимой ловить судака со льда. Обычно использую в качестве основной лески... Флюрокарбон или плетеную леску 8 жил. Подскажите пожалуйста,что у вас намотано на катушках?
Tom do you have any tips for when they just don’t wanna commit to anything? I’ve been finding the fish but it doesn’t seem to matter color size style of bait etc, I’ll get walleye to chase 5-20ft up but they race back down every time, I’ve caught plenty of walleye but this season theyve been kicking my ass haha, they either chase and don’t commit or mark for abit then disappear again
Tom , also on another note, the Canadians on the north side of Rainy Lake have had a limit of 1 for 20 years, US fisherman complain a lot but protects the low population from exploitation by US residents, I have a friend who always takes over his limit a lot. I don't want to hear a outfit cause when he gets caught I don't want the blame, 1 works
Ryan Hall Weather on You Tube predicted this Weather Pattern back in September! I wish that I had a boat available …… much safer and available fishing . Thank You Tom, for Your “ World - Class “ Educational Sessions !! You are a True Leader in the Fishing 🎣 World today. Safe Travels and a Blessed and Happy New Year ahead !! ✨🎣💫
When you say the bigger reaction baits what size specifically are you switching to the 45 M? I just grabbed the 42 M Elliot and use a lot of jigging raps and so on.
@@TomBoley I bought some #8 triples that you recommended in your tip up video .Some people told me they were too big.I was told to get 14's.I will stick with 8's and 10's. Thx...
The real deal is get the VMC Sure-Set hooks at Thorne Brothers or online they have 1 barb that stick out longer than the other two so you can hook the minnow on that longer barb. Even in small sizes stick with #8, 10, 12.
Awesome video, thanks for the tips! I learned a new name for a Burbot. Never heard anyone call a Burbot a "Eelpout" before. Up here in Canada we call them Burbot (Bur-butt) or Ling Cod.
Find a local trapper. Ask him to make you "beaver bait". You take a beaver tail, and skin it out. And then you cut strips out of the tail, put em in glycerin to preserve em, and those things are MONEY for that "eye candy" bottom of a treble.
Hey Tom! my names Bud Im from Montreal Lake, Sask Canada on the 23rd of next month we have our yearly ice fishing derby for walleye and Jack fish.1st prize 100.000 Dollars!!! for Walleye..If anyone is interested?? pay us a visit..thx
Location location location. To consistently get on numbers of walleyes, one must do exactly that: locate yourself at prime areas at the correct times and lure choice in winter is less important. Once you're on the x, aggressively feeding walleyes will eat most offerings. Last time I checked, no walleye ever keyed in on eating a chartreuse and pink lead jigging minnow. Location first then lure choice last in my book.
@@TomBoley I was just kidding anyway, I live pretty near lake Superior and the inland lakes are not fishable, blows my mind that Minnesota has fishable ice.
@@jackramsey3469could easily be rainy, kabetogema or Sandpoint as well. Same system. Plenty if fish and more water than you could ever fish in an entire lifetime.
It's nice to find someone that will actually teach you something rather than just catch fish and not say how they are catching them. Thanks Tom
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for keeping some "eaters" Dax. I always appreciate fisherman not embarrassed to keep fish and enjoy eating the harvest.
Many utubers have a freezer full already too.
Im not embarrassed to keep a few ... I would rather eat venison though

There is something about watching a flasher that is exciting!
Will be up there in a few weeks. Appreciate the tips on how to work those baits and cadences!! Liking that flasher screen in the video!!

Nice to see the flasher on the helix come back....
Always fun watching the red lines
Thanks for finding the ice Tom!!
Thanks for watching.... It's been a struggle this year
Did you switch to Shimano reels? I don’t see a piscifun on this video.

I always set the hook too hard haha
Play keep away.... OK 👍! Nice info
How do you catch walleye if your somewhere, big lake, where you don't see a fish all day. And you don't want to move having a big tent.
How’d you attach the spinner blade?
How were you able to stick your fingers in the walleye mouth! I don’t wanna get bit
Great video. I moved from Texas to Minnesota this summer and was trying to get into ice fishing. Do you have any beginner set up guide videos or something?
I honestly don't think I have one specific video on that.
Basically you need.... A few rods... A flasher .. and auger and a few baits.
What area do you live in now? I'm always game to teach a new person.
More simple than u think

Been using the vrod for past two years open water. Always have good luck with it. But just wondering for ice which of the holes for the clip is best?

How much did you have to spend on a permit to fish there
A permit to fish Lake of the woods? Lol
WTF steve?
It's all skill and experience. There's plenty of locals here that have just as good or better days. Just have to find em and stay on them.
Nice !
If you hold the eelpout under its belly it will straighten out.
You don’t care for the “a scope” mode Tom ?
Can anybody recommend a quality pair of fingerless gloves similar to what Tom wears? I have really big hands. 🤷🏻♂️
I'd like to go fishing with you some day
I need all the help I can get 😂
Brother have you heard of ice fishing rods they are shorter so you don't have to hold it 5 feet back
Thats a burbot not an eel pout isnt it

I've heard it you don't hold them by the gills they will straighten out for a pic .
I've never seen a straight burbot haha

Pine Island 😉
