BYD App Beta tested - Is it all you need to drive?

- We get the chance to test a Beta version of the BYD App with out Atto 3. What can it do? How does it work? And can it be all you need to drive your Atto 3?

A map view with live location of the car would be amazing.
Next update for the app?
Very useful would be a start and stop functionality for charging. If I am charging at home from my PV system, I would like to control the charging to match power supply, storage, and in-house consumption, actual and anticipated. This requires human intervention and planning which no power diverter will provide. Not having to trudge to the garage each time to switch on or off the charger or doing that remotely while not at home would be a great feature.
BYD peeps listening! Include
1.) Voice command feature! We can talk to the app what to do and it will do it like how BYD does by default!
2.) allow verified people to track you car. To me this is important. I want my mom to know where my car is 24/7 in case something bad happens to me.

2022 Dolphin 2023, living in China, the BYD app is really a great thing to have with the the car. Just wish it was in English. My wife and I both have the app for our Dolphin. No problem with two cellphones and one car.
The app for the Dolphin also let the phone become an NFC card to open our car. Love it.
We hope the two phones with one app will make it here!

Just a follow up on my the test of the Chinese BYD app here in Guangzhou China. After watching your video I started the AC in my car (EA2 Dolphin) using the BYD app. I made use to only take my phone with me to the car. The AC was on, but the car was locked. I had to unlock it with the app to get in. FYI.
I believe they are quite different apps.
Its interesting that turning the AC on turns the car on. Thats what happens when you press and hold the bottom button on the key fob. I did this to cool the car down whilst i was in a shop only to return to find the car on, AC on, stereo blasting but the doors still locked. I would prefer that this function via the app or fob just turns the AC on, and nothing else.
I guess then every time you turn the air conditioning on, the front day time running lights will turn on also, showing the world that they can break in and drive away. They really do need an accessories function that starts the car but disables any gear except "Park", disables handbrake so it can't be turned off and keeps all external lights off. Once a key is presented it goes back to the normal "Start the car" function. This would be great for camping and going to drive in movies etc. too.

Great car! No app access in Johannesburg yet, Zero. Waiting. The Dealer said August 2024? Huge screen can rotate but no navigation. Can connect to your cell phone through blue toot though.
You didn't try applying the electronic parking brake and then turning the air conditioner off to see if that would turn the car off. I'm not saying it will, but it's worth a shot.
App learned, now I only need my order delivered

The app interface/look is similar to that of BMWs. I wonder if there’s a common app platform available to manufacturers. Or if this is a case of ‘the best form of flattery’ 😉
From our experience it is structured quite differently. And the BYD app is far more responsive.
Mine doesn’t work, it says *weak network signal when try to remote….., do you know why?

Just clone the Tesla app and I’ll be stoked. Already looking at buying an Atto 3 to run with our Model 3. Tesla does it seamlessly

Not yet.
You can also unlock the car from the app and start it from within the car, even without the keys. Kinda like the RFID card. That's the idea..
The issue being you must be in cellular range to use the app. Best to keep the card with you as backup.
Hi, is there a way to set the charging to say max 90% and also setup a time to start when the power becomes cheaper? Thank you.
That is built into the car's infotainment.

Yes please, surely we can turn off the lights whilst the car is on. BYD are you listening? How can we make use of the few Dive-in theatres that are still operating?
I wonder if we'll have to resort to removing the fuse?

As we have shown. It is just a bit of an odd way of doing it!
it looks a watered down version of the app in china. i wonder if it is restricted by google.
So, how did you get access to using the app?
BYD New Zealand supplied me with a version to try. They required no secrecy on the contents of the app, paid no money for this video, and have taken my concern about security onboard and changed the system.
of course u can do everything u want with a phone. keys and cards are outdated. i left them in the safe. a phone is all u need to use the car. when u are in an area with no internet connection, u can still use the nfc to lock/unlock the car and u can still use bluetooth connection to use the app to do everything with the car.
As we say, keep the card or key with you as backup.
Does the APP work with BYD HAN?
We don’t get the Han in NZ so not sure.
That is awsome BYD is going to produce greater electric cars the app is excellence. Let all hope it doesn't get into politics.
Theoretically, they can write the app so you can remote control your car like an RC model. I guess there is more legal problems than tech problems in this.

it is not a theory. in china, u can currently do that. in tight parking spot, u can move the car without being in the car. that comes handy when needed.
why there ia no map where is my car ?
