    The number one reason for 94 million people in America not being in the workforce is age. Children and the elderly tend not to work. 94 million is one-third of the country.

      Typical case of lies, damn lies and statistics that one. Though I did find that other made up statistic implying that there were 50-100 million people nobody noticed around, population estimation is tricky sure but even if they shunned every government service entirely somehow there would still be massive discrepancies in consumption data for a number of basic necessities food, water, occupancy residential property (After adjusting for the population with NFA) etc. Supermarkets for example have massive data-sets giving them a good idea how much average Americans consume (People do know that is what those loyalty card schemes are for right?) so they would probably notice if the market was 15-30% bigger than predicted by their consumption models.

      The thing I hate about the left is how you throw words you know nothing about. Fascism was created by Giovanni Gentile. As a form of technocracy, which is particularly communist. However he was very pelo conservative. People often use social issues for left and right even though that makes no sense. Bill Clinton saw the death of the conservative Democrats, before that the south was considered left. Most southern states don't have a right to work laws, big government, high taxes, and welfare. Ironically the south is very left wing, yet because it's slightly racist and doesn't agree with body dysmorphia it's right wing... the biggest flaw with the modern left is the fact that they focus way to heavily on social issues. I'm supposed to believe fascism is right wing... So you become right wing to a point where you're left wing... it doesn't make sense. Anarcho capitalism is as far right as you can go. Laissez faire capitalism is right wing, fascism is left wing. I have a feeling you think Hitler is right wing since he was a white nationalist. Even though Volkswagen was by definition socialist, or coke plants where seized and turned into Fanta plants... 🤔
      The problem with the modern left is in the 50s the right silenced the far left. Since the 60s the left has become a reactionary movement, it's never normalized. Likewise the left uses class theory for everything.

    I have mixed feelings about immigration, on one hand I don't want just anyone coming here whenever they want, yet on the other hand I understand that it's more than just a political issue. These are people's lives we're dealt with here. Two of my closest friends are from Mexico. One was born here in Texas but raised in Mexico till adulthood and is a legal citizen, and the other immigrated here illegally when he was 12 years old. Imagine leaving your home country for an opportunity that might not be available to you when you are still a child. He has told me about how he got here, his mother died in Mexico so his family arranged for him to live with an aunt in the US. He had to cross the Rio Grande by himself and was relayed from person to person until he got to where he could meet up with his aunt. This was a child mind you. I can't imagine what that experience was like, and all just because his family wanted him to have the opportunity of being here in the US, and having the opportunity to go to school and get a good job like they advertise in other countries. He told me that before he came here, he imagined the US all looking like the really nice parts of our downtown area, only to find that where he lived now wasn't too much safer than where he lived in Mexico, and he would become a poor, working class immigrant like so many who have taken the same path as him. It's been over 10 years, and he still doesn't have citizenship or any kind of documentation that allows him to be here legally. He wants live the American dream but for the moment is stuck doing window tint with his brother because he won't be able to get work anywhere else other than your basic manual labor, which is exactly the kind of job most people expect from immigrants from Mexico and Latin America. There are plenty of people who want to do well and become one of the success stories among immigrants to the US, but at the same time, there are those who are simply complacent with living here and start to expect things to be handed to them, or worse, bring crime associated with central America with them in order to further their own wealth associated with such crime. Immigration is so much more than a politician issue, and these are real peoples' lives we are affecting, whether it be good or bad to our country, and I feel that's something a lot of people don't take into account. I certainly don't have the answer, but I'm thankful I have the friends I have and am able to see this issue through the lens I have developed.

    • @NothingXemnas
      @NothingXemnas ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do think that, weird as it can be, much of the immigration comes from 2 primary reasons:
      1) the US is the number one economy in the world;
      2) propaganda: American media is extremely influencial (so much so that pretty much every kid poor as they may be, can sing in English in Brazil).
      Halloween is a known holiday in Brazil, many of us know about July 4th as much as September 7th (the Brazilian independence day), and the US blasts at max volume, to every corner of the world, how much "freedom" they have and how much better they are. Brazilians, even today, think the US is a paradise because of all university programs, the better currency, rich high-profile celebrities, better income, and generally a lot more vocal power. We watched the presidential elections, for fucks sake! WE HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE UNITED STATES, BUT WE WATCH YOUR (or rather, the government's) UPS AND DOWNS BECAUSE YOU ARE OUR KINGS.
      I ONLY KNOW IT ISN'T LIKE THAT because I know English, I watch videos like these and I have interacted directly with Americans. But I am, in every measure, an exception; the vast majority of Brazilians (as well as... pretty much everyone else not living in English-speaking countries, specially poor countries) don't generally know the issues the US faces. The housing crisis, discrimination, abusive cops, less than optimal health system (specially for illegal immigrants who definitely cannot pay for private care and normally live on donations/charity or just straight out die).
      If United States merely STOPPED fucking blasting propaganda, there wouldn't be so many immigrants. But that isn't a choice, because otherwise the population wouldn't be brainwashed into thinking the same thing, e.g. the woman stating on national news how much better "American citizens" are, and many people believe it. The morality of nationalist speeches being good or bad is up to debate.

      Also the great wall was never meant to keep people; out it was meant to slow down armies trying to invade China. You see, China's population was infinitely more than the Mongol steppes so the Mongols needed to muster a truly massive force very quickly to even have a chance at conquering them, putting up a massive wall was just to delay them long enough for China to raise an army.

It is to keep out northern invading armies, which varied depending on which part of history you looked at (initially the Xiongnu, to later the Mongols and the Qing). I think I can speak on this, for obvious reasons, without racism coming into it. If you take a massive outside population and introduce them to a native population then outbreed them over the course of 50 years, there will be massive problems. I don't think this is good or fair in any way. I actually feel really bad about this. It's like the whole country is being stolen out from the original citizens who will also have to PAY for their replacement and lose political power over their own country that they built. The United States will not be the same country it was when white people were the overwhelming majority. It will become more latin american (look at latin american countries for examples) because no matter how much wealth the US has built or accumulated over the last 100 years of prosperity, the incoming culture does not have the same values, philosophies, or goals that European people have. The latin american policy of gaining political power by bribing your constituents with money from the treasury is already beginning to proliferate. It will get much much worse.
      The democrat party thought that by opening the borders they could bribe their way into political power by maintaining a class of grateful migrants for reelection but what they didn't count on was that these migrants would end up voting in their own politicians on a racial basis and replacing the people who thought they could control them. Again, on a racial basis, the former migrants will advocate for the continuation of lacks border control in order to continue the "takeover". It was a massive mistake to do this in the first place and is incredibly unfair to the native white and black population to bring in millions of people to compete while also greatly cheapening labor and keeping wages low and housing costs sky high.
      California is likely becoming the prototype of what the rest of the United States will look like within the century with a tiny extremely rich upper class and the rest of people overwhelmingly poor relying on government services.

      @JohnDoe-pf6qp 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The problem with that approach is for people that serve less than 8 years it would mean years of lag time because of their inactive reserve status. Let's say Joe Smith enlists on an 8 year contract with 4 years active and 4 years inactive reserve time (which is pretty standard). He's going to get out of the Army after his 4 year active time is up, but he's not going to get a DD214 until his entire contract is up. As conduct during his inactive reserve time could potentially change the type of discharge he's given.
      There's also the reality that, as we've seen historically with the French Foreign Legion, this kind of approach could create a military class largely seen as disposable. If DD214 equals automatic citizenship that will become a more common pathway and it would only follow that using those kinds of personnel for more dangerous situations would be politically expedient.

For example if you were convicted of a crime your re-enlistment eligibility would change, and your discharge status could (and likely would) change as well. What you have now just serves to allow you to access any benefits to which you are entitled. Since getting citizenship requires an honorable discharge that remains influx until you have your actual discharge and the DD214 in it's final state.

    While starship troopers was a movie about a military autocracy, I did like the idea of all civilians have full rights of an individual, but to gain voting rights, firearm rights, or more privileges usually called rights, you had to earn citizenship, now the movie only shows military service which guaranteed citizenship, but citizenship could be earned through good works, scientific and medical research for the benefit of humanity. It seems like a decent system to me.
    Edit: I also think any Non citizens/residents who serve in the military be granted citizenship upon an honorable or less than honorable discharge, or medical discharge.

      Thats extremely dumb because it is saying that the modt valuable people in society are scientists/soldiers/whoever you want to give citizenship. Its based entirely on your own subjective view of who is important to society, and not what is actually important to society.
      For instance, i personally belive sewage plant workers and garbage men are the most important workers in a society, and therefore in my starship troopers "utopia" as youve described, only by serving as a garbage man/ sewage plant worker are you able to vote, have kids, own guns, etc etc.

    My wife is an imminent domain attorney in Texas, dealing with right-of-way for highway expansion projects. The border in Texas is almost entirely private land. Which means each and every landowner would have hired high-priced law firms to sue the federal government for taking their land. The litigation for the I-10 expansion in Houston (Katy Expry) took more than ten years, so the border would have taken even longer. The acquisition costs would have been ten times what they were predicting. Best of all, most illegal immigrants enter the country legally at authorized checkpoints and just over-stay their visa. So a Berlin Wall of Texas would accomplish exactly DICK.

    Just some random piece of info: The great wall of China is actually a shitton of walls securing their border, built over several centuries and comissioned by different people entirely. If the inital part would've been inefficient it wouldn't have been expanded on so vastly.
    Also, the problem with current migration is that these people come from different cultures and don't even try to assimilate to local culture. I live in a workers district in my town and parents with their kids (usually just the moms because it's muslims and why would their dad take care of kids, right?) sit on the playground and don't speak the local language. My brother goes to one of the more prestigious high schools of our town and only half the kids speak our language properly. Half the imprisoned people have migrational background.
    Those are problems that are new.
    Just my two cents

    • @virginiaeleanormcintyre9499

      Matt Johnston - Here in Italy a lot of my students (I also teach English - like all English speakers living abroad) want to emigrate to Canada and/or Australia so I know a bit about your laws... it depends on where a foreigner wants to emigrate to and what skills they have. I had a student that was looking into Caglary because they had more flexible requirements for immigration, apparently because it’s really really cold most of the time 😂😂 (Ps- I’m originally from Rochester NY so I have a soft spot for Canada 😉)
      In Italy it’s very difficult to get a visa but with the current migrant situation there are about 150,000 refugees and migrants coming in each year by boat. The trip is extremely dangerous and highly controversial. The risk of human lives being lost at sea forces Europe to intervene but countries like Italy and Greece already have unemployment issues, so there is very little work for those that do arrive safely.
      They should be re-distributed all over Europe but the process is slow and many are blocked in Italy with no legal documents or possibility to work. Italy helps with food and shelter using some E.Union funds but it’s not really enough and tensions are high here... in addition you need to consider that there is also normal immigration from Eastern Europe as well as nomadic groups like the Rom (too complicated to explain here) which when combined with the economic problems and governmental issues Southern European countries already have.... well, let’s just say that in Italy we now have a government led by Salvini (look it up 🙈)....
      I see all of my US friends focused on American issues without realizing what is happening in the rest of the world.... like I said I’d love to see a nice moderate video about it.
      Take care and have a great day 😊

    • @mattjohnston2

      I have friends around the world, several in the US...for as long as I can remember Americans generally focus on America, ignoring much of the world, so it's nothing new. 😆
      I'm in southern Ontario, just off the coast of Lake Erie. A 2 hour drive will get me to the American border at Buffalo, and I went to college in Niagara. In my county, there's a large Italian community, and I've always said someday I'm going to visit Italy (amongst too many other places to list, lol).
      Good gawd, Salvini almost sounds like an Italian Trump! So far, the words most commonly used to describe him are far right, anti-globalist, eurosceptic, and strong-man. With a focus on using social media to his advantage.

      Living abroad has opened my eyes about world politics and of course how I see the US has changed - on one hand, I’m the only American many here have ever seen so I end up “myth-busting” and explaining American culture to Italians. You’d be surprised what Europeans think of us...
      On the other hand, I am forced to watch American politics while face-palming and yelling at the TV as if I were watching a bad horror film... sigh
      As for Salvini- good gawd is about right.... I don’t disagree with everything he says but we need to be careful and pay close attention to how far right Europe is beginning to swing....
