Seriously if this show came back today and they gave bad or controversial reviews to major AAA games, they would get so much shit for it and essentially be cancelled. Look at Last of Us 2, most major reviews were calling it a masterpiece and not even mentioning any negativity about it, even after the embargo. You had to go out of your way and find reviews that didn't blindly just label it as a masterpiece and move on.

It's really ironic, when you think about it. X-Play and other gaming review shows helped inspire people on youtube to do the same. In the end, once youtube became integrated and permanent as a means of entertainment, shows on G4 lost their relevance and profit potential. I was so sad to see X-Play end - I was a kid in the 2000s watching it. It felt like the end of an era, and I suppose it was.

Oh God, I remember watching this episode when I was in highschool. I was a teen living with my parents and worried about my girlfriend. Now I'm in my 30s, married to that girl (who I still love to show off for) and as of today my dad has been dead for 11 years. In fact a lot of people I have known have died in the time since I watched this... Man what I wouldn't give to just go back for one day, even if I was poor trailer trash back then. They would shit on games pretty easy and really many of the games they judged as 5/5 ended up being obscure and not that great. They were never a good authority on games. Just at the time there wasn’t anything like it for a middle schooler who liked video games at the time.
Shame sessler went off the deep end. Dude went from a funny guy to being annoying. Maybe part of it is being privy to seeing how hateful and spiteful he acts on twitter. It ended up being a blessing his appearance on Xplay is relatively minimal. At least the higher ups at the new G4 seem to understand the problems they are facing and are quietly mitigating it. I think they brought Sessler on to draw crowds, but keep his appearances to a minimum because they know how much trouble he could cause them.

She had a platform and figured she could get away with doing shit she probably already did, IE: Calling trolls sexist because their comments related to sex, when actually they were just trolls and should be ignored. It seems that the execs knew this was something to steer very far away from, and while they seemed to support her, they quietly shut that shit down for good. They continue to make sex based jokes. I will say, it's not the most entertaining thing to watch. Pretty bog standard. has some good moments, and it's nice to have on as background television on cable, especially when Ninja Warrior and Scott the Woz and Viva La Dirt league come on. But those are established shows and youtubers, so yeah. X play and attack of the show are pretty meh. Same with Name your Price. It seemed pretty cool to have a gameshow, and I like the idea of it, but the execution is, again, pretty meh. It feels like they try a bit too hard to be edgy-ish and relatable. Mind you, they also have to straddle the line of not going too far, because, in their discord, it's a lot of woke people who actually praised frosk's actions. So their most vocal supporters are exactly what you don't want the channel to become. But it seems like the execs know that, while they don't want to piss them off, they will do everything to stay away from that. I don't chat in the discord anymore because I feel like anything I say could end up getting someone to get pissy with me and then I'd be banned because the mob would be against me. Definitely feels like special snowflake city. I think the whole G4 Channel is going towards the right direction. They got a solid mix of content that's original and youtubers. I think they need to refine their lineup though on linear, as crash course all saturday night, imo, is kinda bad, because that's when me and the boys often get together and I'd love to have G4 on running a nice lineup of what is newly aired episode wise, but all you get is crash course and that's kinda boring for hanging out. Beyond that,p they need to come up with something to make xplay and AOTS pop. Like, they aren't bad, but I don't feel like I need ot see the newest episode. Maybe that's just me, but it feels like those two shows, which should be staples, end up being the most meh shows.

Ovalee left, a few stage hands left, Blair left a few months ago, and I heard Kevin is set to leave at the end of the year. Unfortunately it's a sinking ship. No way Comcast continues pumping money into such a low viewership channel with the amount of people hired there. They banked on nostalgia to be successful then lost most momentum when Frosk went on the rant. I totally disagree on Jedi Outcast,, Gladius and to a lesser extent, Roadkill. The former two are some of the best Lucas Arts games. No idea how Academy gets a 4 and Jedi Outcast gets a 2. But I was always happy to hear X-Play's perspective.
I have personally played both the story is awesome but afterwards had to drive to touch it in Jedi Academy though it kept me in air tight with the combat system and a decent story only reason the story is decent is Rosh though

Shame sessler went off the deep end. Dude went from a funny guy to being annoying. Maybe part of it is being privy to seeing how hateful and spiteful he acts on twitter. It ended up being a blessing his appearance on Xplay is relatively minimal. At least the higher ups at the new G4 seem to understand the problems they are facing and are quietly mitigating it. I think they brought Sessler on to draw crowds, but keep his appearances to a minimum because they know how much trouble he could cause them.

@@abstr4cted496 Eh, it's ok. Nothing special, but they definitely aren't trying to go woke. It looks like that was more Frosk being her own stupid self. She had a platform and figured she could get away with doing shit she probably already did, IE: Calling trolls sexist because their comments related to sex, when actually they were just trolls and should be ignored.
It seems that the execs knew this was something to steer very far away from, and while they seemed to support her, they quietly shut that shit down for good. They continue to make sex based jokes. I will say, it's not the most entertaining thing to watch. Pretty bog standard. has some good moments, and it's nice to have on as background television on cable, especially when Ninja Warrior and Scott the Woz and Viva La Dirt league come on. But those are established shows and youtubers, so yeah. X play and attack of the show are pretty meh. Same with Name your Price. It seemed pretty cool to have a gameshow, and I like the idea of it, but the execution is, again, pretty meh. It feels like they try a bit too hard to be edgy-ish and relatable. Mind you, they also have to straddle the line of not going too far, because, in their discord, it's a lot of woke people who actually praised frosk's actions. So their most vocal supporters are exactly what you don't want the channel to become. But it seems like the execs know that, while they don't want to piss them off, they will do everything to stay away from that. I don't chat in the discord anymore because I feel like anything I say could end up getting someone to get pissy with me and then I'd be banned because the mob would be against me. Definitely feels like special snowflake city.
I think the whole G4 Channel is going towards the right direction. They got a solid mix of content that's original and youtubers. I think they need to refine their lineup though on linear, as crash course all saturday night, imo, is kinda bad, because that's when me and the boys often get together and I'd love to have G4 on running a nice lineup of what is newly aired episode wise, but all you get is crash course and that's kinda boring for hanging out. Beyond that,p they need to come up with something to make xplay and AOTS pop. Like, they aren't bad, but I don't feel like I need ot see the newest episode. Maybe that's just me, but it feels like those two shows, which should be staples, end up being the most meh shows.
@@TurtleSauceGaming Not sure why you deleted that you brought up a lot of good points. The show still is in its last leg. Ovalee left, a few stage hands left, Blair left a few months ago, and I heard Kevin is set to leave at the end of the year. Unfortunately it's a sinking ship. No way Comcast continues pumping money into such a low viewership channel with the amount of people hired there. They banked on nostalgia to be successful then lost most momentum when Frosk went on the rant. There's just no coming back from it especially how people pick up and toss away entertainment nowadays we are all a bunch of chronic consumers and sadly they already spent their second chance.
I cannot wait for the comeback next year.

This shit was so quintessential early 2000! We need more diagonal angles, random b&w cuts, and more swaying camera movement in our game review videos. (And Adam was always brutally honest and I loved it. I mean talk about a man who gave a shit!)

I totally disagree on Jedi Outcast,, Gladius and to a lesser extent, Roadkill. The former two are some of the best Lucas Arts games. No idea how Academy gets a 4 and Jedi Outcast gets a 2. But I was always happy to hear X-Play's perspective.
Astral Frost same. Even when they hate Jedi Outcast, Anime games including Dragon Ball Z, Gundam, and Naruto I still enjoyed watching them.
I have personally played both the story is awesome but afterwards had to drive to touch it in Jedi Academy though it kept me in air tight with the combat system and a decent story only reason the story is decent is Rosh though
