The secret is to buy the Select Brillant Super. It's made with a double lock valve which actually exceeds(!) FIFAs requirements for air retention. They're the best. /Jay
I have 11 match balls, and it seems like my Nike balls are the ones that lose air and need to be topped off more often. My Adidas and Select balls hold their air a lot better.
I have 10 professional match balls (most of which I found heavily discounted, but they were the real thing and new) that were no longer usable because they lost air too quickly. My 2018 Champions League ball was dropping from 9 psi to 4 psi in 10 minutes. I figured out how to repair those balls at almost no cost without replacing the valves. I first added a few drops of coconut oil directly into the valves. Then I inflated them to 9 psi and added three or four more drops of coconut oil directly into the valves while holding the balls valve side up. I used my thumb to force the coconut oil into the tiny, invisible perforations in the valves and left the balls sitting valve side up overnight. After doing that three nights in a row with my Champions League ball, it stopped losing air. All the rest of my balls also retain air now. If I don't use them for a few days, I sometimes lubricate the needle with coconut oil and add add about 1 psi to a few of the balls that were inflated least recently. If the temperature has remained stable over several days, I often do not need to add any more air. There is much less friction between the needle and valve with coconut oil compared to saliva, and coconut oil seals the tiny perforations in the valve that I cannot see with the naked eye.
Since we're on the topic of ball care... another idea for a quick tip would be different ways to fix a leaking ball... I know around 3 methods but pretty sure they're more of them out there

This might not be correct information. Usually, people pump the balls up by feel but that will end up with a ball inflated to less than the minimum pressure on the official match balls. The official match balls with the red bladder are made to be pumped up to be rock hard to get minimum loss of energy which means they will go further but also offer less forgiveness requiring dead center contact each time. Under inflating causes slow air loss.
