I just watched "Titanic" UHD-4K last night. It is one of the best-looking 4K movies I've seen. It looks better than I've ever seen this film look, and the overall sound is spectacular as well. This is a gem of a release. I am positively THRILLED with this version of Titanic.
It looks pretty good, some dnr was definitely used. Some parts seem way too bright. Not one of the best transfers I’ve seen but I’m ok with it.
Totally agree. Also, depending on your TV and set up everybody will have different viewing experiences… I have a LG OLED and the picture looks amazing…

@@WarTheory I also have an OLED, and while the movie does look nice, the DNR can be distracting at times , the abyss by the looks of it will suffer the same fate unfortunately.

Watched it on 4k UHD Blu-ray last night. WOW! Like it was just filmed in 2023. Must own for reference quality.
I've had a life long obsession with the Titanic because of this movie, and i'm sure i'm not the only one.
I saw this in feeder twice in 1997 and recently in 4K in the cinema. It looks fantastic, one of my all-time favourite movies that I surprisingly only own on VHS so it’s about time I do the 4K upgrade!

A stellar release. I did find I had to crank the volume up slightly but not a lot
Adam, I like that little touch you added to the end of the video putting the movie back pretty cool.
If you are on the fence about buying this disc just do it. Everything Adam says is true and words do not do it justice. It looks and sounds exceptional. The disc version has much better skin tones . The disc has much better depth, black levels and facial details.
I picked up the standard edition AND the collectors edition.

Let's hope Cameron decides to do the same with The Abyss and gives us a stunning 4k version of T2👍
did you get you digital code in the collectors edition? I didnt and have heard many people who did buy the set not get theirs either.

So glad to hear that this is an excellent transfer, and not T2 4K revisited (DNR-ridden nightmare). Gives me hope for good/excellent results for the upcoming Abyss, True Lies, and Aliens 4K discs. Keeping my fingers crossed!🤞🏽

Thanks for the review!! This was a childhood movie going back the 2-tape VHS pack!! This film has a special place in my heart. James Horner's score & Celine Dion's famous song remain embedded in my memory. Definitely looking to buy this soon.
They said that Cameron's Lightstorm Entertainment supervised the 4K restoration, featuring a scan of the original Super 35mm camera negative (2.39:1). But then the backcover says that the aspect ratio is 2.35:1

I received it for Christmas and just watched it, I've owned the film on every physical medium it's been on and I say this without the slightest hesitation, 'Titanic' has never looked any better than this! My jaw was on the floor through most of the running time and the D Atmos is immersive, spacial and the soundstage is seamless. I cherish this upgrade and if you're a fan it's a must have.
Thanks for the review. I'm glad to hear this was a good transfer. I've heard various cinephile complains about previous Cameron films (looking at you T2), so I'm glad they did better with Titanic. I'm in a purchasing-for-myself blackout until after Christmas, but this is on my Wishlist. If "Santa" doesn't bring it, I plan to buy it early in the new year. Great movie, must be in my collection.
Just got my Ultra edition in and it a really neat package. I had to splurge for this and very glad it got the treatment it deserves.
I cant wait to get my copy for Christmas. My girlfriend knows how much i want it. I saw Titanic 15 times in 1997 and countless times since. Titanic is the greatest movie-going experience of my life

This is the transfer T2 should have been. This went back to the source instead of using a 3D master that should not be a source to use for a 4K disc.

Watched it last night. What a fantastic transfer. This has been my most-anticipated release since the introduction of the format. For years I've been waiting for this release. We all know what happened to Terminator 2, so I'm so happy James Cameron proved us he can actually deliver a good transfer. Not only that, I think we can even call it the best 4k transfer ever.

This is amazing news for the upcoming Cameron films. I waited for this review before I upgraded my blu ray.
I’m so glad the transfer was good, everyone was worried about the dreaded DNR and now I can’t wait to watch. The movie is a classic and iconic in so many ways. I’ve always preferred the scenes after the ship hits the iceberg and it turns into a disaster movie. I wonder if Cameron can redo T2 now? Anyway this is a good sign for next year when his trifecta releases to look great.
I've heard some pretty controversial use of AI optimization was used on Titanic and the three others with the streaming prints making the rounds. True Lies seems to be the biggest culprit.
I thought Titanic looked great and the AI wasn't really noticable. I'll wait for reviews of the physical releases like I did for Titanic.
@@unconditionalprong Bill Hunt over at The Digital Bits reported that no artificial AI enhancement was made to the movie for this release. I haven't seen screenshots to see what all the fuss is about, but Bill is a trustworthy guy when it comes to this.

Titanic was such a big deal when it released, I remember this movie being in theaters for what seemed like an entire year, then after it was taken out, the demand was so high that they brought it back to theaters for several more months.
I saw it in theaters the first time with my grand parents, I can't remember how it came about it was just us three going to see it but I remember it was the only time I saw my grandpa shed a tear
Looks very good, especially it is without gold/yellow tint. Great.
Europe has in most cases a release in January, strange decision-making thing after the holidays!
This is Demo worthy. I mean its crazy how good this looks. Probably one of the best I've seen. Next to Top Gun 2.
Too bad it's not the open matte version
I just watched mine today. As good as the audio was (I don't have Atmos, just 5.0), I felt it could have been better. Although Horner's score was very impressive, the action scenes, I felt the score took a back seat and was not well balanced with the action. I remember the DTS laserdisc being more powerful. DVD audio was terrible. I never got the blu-ray, so can't say how it compared. That is my only fault I found. I loved it and glad I got the upgrade! Thanks for your review! I was hoping to see some and get others thoughts.
Thank you for the review! I was wondering if you know if the included digital download is all ultra hd with dolby vision and atmos? I don't have a standalone 4k bluray player. I do have a PS5 that supports Atmos, but not dolby vision. Thanks.

Hey movie guy thanks for the vid. I have another off-topic question for you. I ended up with two copies of the Monster Squad on 4K: one I've already opened and the other I still have unopened in the shrink wrap. I want to keep it sealed, but in doing so will it warp the corners of the slipcover over time? Just wanted to ask a fellow collector
No slip cover version of this available in Canada folks. Big bummer.

Fantastic, im glad i picked it up.
Why does the bow sectiom look longer in the film then it does on models, i am presently building a model of the Titanic , but it does not look as long as that , did they lengthen the bow for the movie to make the ship look bigger. As for the 4k it looks great , if you watch it on a PS5 set the Ps5S sound to spatial stereo, big difference , i blue tooth the teli too a midi system, sounds great.😊

I really wish it was full screen. I want it to feel bigger like Jurassic Park and Avatar. If it were made today it would be mostly shot with imax cameras probably.
They have "destroyed" a movie that could be seen without black stripes in full screen, they go and put it in 4k with black stripes... I'll stick with the 4k version that is on the internet "4k open matte".. what a destruction that have made..
How is this even a destruction? Those "black stripes" on the screen are there because the movie is shot in the cinemascope 2:35:1 aspect ratio. It's been like that since its release in theaters 26 years ago.
Are we seeing the same thing? This looks terrible, colours and contrast just blown out to hell.
