Think about the horror of strangers coming into your home with a shotgun and murdering your parent. The way these criminals justify the way they act would be funny if it wasn’t so depressing. I think you and your friends deserved your sentencing and I’m grateful that you have the self awareness to look back on a different version of yourself.
I don’t think he spent a second justifying anything he did, he was just giving us the necessary information for why he would have ever thought to do these things. accountability and self reflection is the difference and I think he’s shown a great deal of that
Absolutely horrific because not only was that gun used to murder the father it was used to sexually assault his daughter before that and I'm sure they probably made him watch. I play these types of situations out hypothetically in my head and think about how to equip myself the best I can because being that father and helplessly watching a bunch of men come into my own home and seeing them do that to a daughter or loved one is somthing I can't bear to imagine.
I’ve known men back in the days who did home invasion and although I’ve never had anything to do with them I always thought of them as the most frightening people in the community . Being a victim of burglaries I could never imagine being a victim to a home invasion .
The world has been crazy for centuries. We just didn't have the media to warn us. My stepdad was an attempted family annihilator. He didn't live through it. We fought back. I was 6 years old and hid my 15 month old sister under the bed after untying her. We both were tied to a cinder block to be thrown in the river to die. While my brother and mother fought him, I got myself and my sister free. He hit me with a cast iron skillet and I bit him on his hip. I lost a few teeth doing it, but I didn't care. I'm still glad he's dead 51 years later.
The importance of this channel cannot be understated. Hearing these stories helps me so much with having a deeper understanding of my own thoughts and perspectives on the world

@@ybloyal8154 thank you for the book suggestions. I happened to be reading the comments here and noticed your reply to ask you anything. Thank you. Other than the books, what is the most important thing I can tell my son? At first he wasn’t letting prison work him but instead he was doing a pretty good job of keeping it out of his head. He’s been in almost 10 and has more but probably home in the next 8. He’s letting the system take him down now. He’s 31. He started letting the place work him now and is pulling away from us now. He grew up with both of us, had a good childhood, made some bad decisions and, boom, he’s in. He hung up on me on Mother’s Day, getting real pissy lately, and only calls now when he wants extra $. I know what’s up, I ain’t stupid. But I wrote a letter to him, hoping with the best advise I could give, including…”write a book son”,. If there was one thing I could say to help the man inside him, who I know, what would it be? I just want him to be at peace inside and help him not let that place take him down. I’m like your mom to him. This is some tough “you know what” for us both but his dad and I are the ones who can have a clearish mind. I’d like his to be too. Thanks if you can answer. 💞 I’m going to see how I can get those books sent to him. That place he’s in makes everything hard.
I appreciate his story when I was a teenager I was the one who was the “get away driver” looking back learning from my mistakes I to could’ve been in a situation he was in as well you never know others intentions. Thank god I learned my ways and stopped because something like that could’ve happened to me as well. All we can do I grow, learn and break the cycle
Eugene was in prison for a murder conviction, yet he admits his current problem is road rage. Road rage could lead to another murder conviction, Eugene needs to grow up.
“I was a thousand different people.” ~Eugene. How many of us are a thousand different people all wrapped up into one body. Struggles of the hood are real. The bad experiences often times shatter a person into a thousand little pieces. The good experiences often times build us up with thousands of pieces of a solid foundation. That father didn’t have to die. It’s good Eugene realizes that he was just as responsible as the others. I hope everyone involved from the family who lost a father to Eugene can find solace and hope with what they have in life.
@@ybloyal8154 yeah do not react to road rage, I had a problem with that for years, I had a situation I stopped on the fwy got out and pulled a dude half way out his car window ready to smash dude then I saw he had a kid in the back looking scared and i back off, and I realized people that aint from the street feel protected in a car so much protected they are willing to antagonize someone they would NEVER try face to face being in a car is a false sense of security for some people, but the real ones know everyone can be gotten to, just don't react just like your story about the guy who bumped into you, let them go because they have no idea.
I get that he’s moved on and he sounds like a pretty grounded individual. He has moved on… however, I have a feeling that the young girl and her mother that were unfortunate enough to live through that horrific experience, witnessing her father murdered might not have moved on quite so easily. I’m more interested in how she is coping, and her mother to be honest
Well done Mark. Also, great job Eugene, I’m glad to see your are taking accountability for your life. You can’t change the past, but you can help determine your future. Keep up the good work!
These interviews are just about the best thing on the Internet. A murder can never be taken back and that wife and daughter lost someone they loved. Eugene, your story about a broken home and not having a father figure in your life IS the problem with a majority of our male criminal offenders. This lack of a father and a positive male role model in a youth's developmental years is the greatest threat to the future of our country.
I agree and it is important for all men to know that a father figure doesn’t have to be in the home or in a romantic relationship with his mother. We can be father figures to the young men we see often in our own neighborhood 💯
i hope you start a channel Eugene. You speak well and we are interested in listening. I would love a channel of convicts telling us their story just like this: Before Conviction and After Conviction. It's an area the public know nothing about.

I heard the word "value" many times during this interview. Eugene's live wasn't turned around in prison, it just woke him up and on a path of self vision and perception. It sounds like a GREAT path. Stay strong.
Although he DID NOT commit the murder, he was involved, hence the 25 years he got. I actually liked this interview and as I mentioned, the self vision of what he needs to do is paramount to his success of making money not doing anything. @Mark, I'd love to see a you look back at some of the other interviews you've conducted and "revisit" the people, like where are they now? That would be an awesome spotlight. Eugene is out of prison for 5 years now from what he said, so he's definitely not the norm. Again, @Eugene, stay strong and determined.
Eugene has come a long way from his childhood, but he still needs a change of scenery. Being in a loving environment would do wonders for all of us. The very best to his future.
You may call him a sociopath but did you think to look at his story from a neutral perspective understanding the environment that made him the way he was. Watch the full video again and towards the end you’ll find that he’s able to point out his faults and through educating himself he became a better person.
@@alexthekid1538 nobody said he was a psychopath but he speaks that "court-speak" which in my mind is just word salad. Most of us probably think we would _never_ do that type of thing, but I suppose, under certain circumstances, we’re all just one decision or one immediate reaction away from ruining our own life along with the one we’ve taken.
To all the people judging this man in this comment section, think to yourself what environment and circumstances can take a person down this road. I would also like people to recognize that this man reconciled with the past, and through re-educating himself he became the better.
Some people have the best environment, family, upbringing, etc and still choose to do wrong. I got a buddy who got out after 17yrs of a murder conviction. He said he didn't understand others who came from good backgrounds who did hard time. He's such a hypocrite and chose to get involved. It's always a choice. No one's putting guns to your heads, and if someone did, that 'someone' is who you have to get rid of. He acts like he had no opportunity. He has a huge family and support system. There was an active teen center and programs growing up. People in worse conditions didn't even join a gang. Watching all those gangsta movies rotted his brain. He speaks in innuendos about being a gangster. He's actually the fakest and just kidding himself acting righteous. He still owes me $600 I loaned him to launch his podcast and won't return my calls. He claims he came from the slums, but really from the burbs. Claims motto was survival by all means necessary, then he talks shit about selling crack for a week, like it was below him and too dangerous. He isn't the hustler he claimed to be. He's just a legend in his own mind. Now that we're adults, I see him for what he always was, a fake. I'm embarrassed of my past, don't wear it as a badge of honor and clout is for social media. I'm not trying to win any popularity contests, that dumb shit will get you killed. The dude that did the actual homicide got less time and said fuck the victims family.

@@mrjacktraeger yeah they're scum for that
@@mrjacktraegerI feel like people in these comments skipped over that part or something... they deserved the death penalty
He’s so detailed and remembers every detail about his past. Very smart man.
I’ve known men back in the days who did home invasion and although I’ve never had anything to do with them I always thought of them as the most frightening people in the community . Being a victim of burglaries I could never imagine being a victim to a home invasion .
How did they pick who they was gonna rob?
They just pick random houses?
Well imagine issa bloody world we live in
Don't be a victim though get you a pistol 🔫 learn how to shoot it
The world has been crazy for centuries.
My brother was that shit fucked him up
The importance of this channel cannot be understated. Hearing these stories helps me so much with having a deeper understanding of my own thoughts and perspectives on the world
I second this. I questioned myself in a lot of areas and confronted a lot of issues I thought I had or did have.
Very good interview. I liked the perception part too. It great to see him set an example of someone who can change even with what he has been taught or been brought up into. Thank Mark and Eugene
Thank you 🙏
I've changed my life as well. I'm lucky not to have gone to prison, unlike many of my cousins. I am now a college graduate (the first one in my family, ever), as an accountant. Unlike most people that live the street life, I believe that you are rehabilitated. And coming from it myself, I just want you to stay focused. I know the streets try to call you back, it can be a tough battle. It's easy to go back to what you know. It may not matter, but I am proud of you and your progress.
Eugene, you are an incredible man and how you’ve changed is exemplary. You can be someone these troubled young men can look up to.

Great interview. Accountability, responsibility, insight and perception as well as understanding. Brought Eugene to this point and it will take him further. Best of luck Eugene. Best of luck.
Damn, for having spent 25 years in there this man is very articulate and has a good head on him. Some of us do just get caught up by our surroundings. Idk if his claimed involvement is true, but I choose to believe him and wish him all the best. God bless
25 years of reading and articulating himself in there
Eugene, you are the true definition of a man. Peoples perception of a man is so distorted these days. It's all based on money. A true man is one that can own up to his mistakes and change. I wish you the best in everything you do with your life. Thank you for sharing your story, your life with all of us.
Well said..

a MAN, seriously, a MAN, is the one that was killed, trying to defend his innocent family. This “man” should still be in jail. PERIOD, end of story

@@apaaaa agreed, and i can listen to him talk for hours!
@@ybloyal8154 hey
@@ybloyal8154 Did you have a blue convertible mustang gt on gold ones back on the day? From Seaside, right?
I appreciate his story when I was a teenager I was the one who was the “get away driver” looking back learning from my mistakes I to could’ve been in a situation he was in as well you never know others intentions. Thank god I learned my ways and stopped because something like that could’ve happened to me as well. All we can do I grow, learn and break the cycle
Absolutely ❤❤❤❤
Superb interview. Man, what perspective, and he picked that up the hard way. Our stories are never over until we are put into the ground.
Please don't let road rage take you out. Good luck on your new path. You can do it. Stay away from anything to do with the old life.
Thank you 🙏 my only interaction is for change 💯
Fr not to mention she was raped with a shotgun idk how they smoothed over that part of the story
He should still be in prison. For life. Life. Life.

But he’s not… lololol! Cry about it!

Beautiful testimony!
Keep talkin to the youth. You are much needed!!!❤
It's clear your path is to help people through sharing your life lessons! Grateful for you!
i hope you start a channel Eugene. You speak well and we are interested in listening. I would love a channel of convicts telling us their story just like this: Before Conviction and After Conviction. It's an area the public know nothing about.
He's just rationalizing sociopathic behaviors.
Thank you for telling your story, Eugene!
Thank you for listening 💯

I heard the word "value" many times during this interview. Eugene's live wasn't turned around in prison, it just woke him up and on a path of self vision and perception. It sounds like a GREAT path. Stay strong.
A "GREAT" path, huh?... He's still talking "allegedly"...
Thank you 🙏

My boyfriend has the same story and is still in prison, thanks for giving hope.
Saying "I went to commit a home invasion" - "but I wasn't there to hurt anybody" is a severe, socio- pathological disconnect from reality.
It is. But environment can influence our thinking and the mentality of poverty corrupts our morality.
He obviously means physically, is it that hard to figure that out.
You may call him a sociopath but did you think to look at his story from a neutral perspective understanding the environment that made him the way he was. Watch the full video again and towards the end you’ll find that he’s able to point out his faults and through educating himself he became a better person.
@jimbofischa it's not an excuse, it's the way they were taught to think. Give the child a good home, this shit never happens.
@@alexthekid1538 nobody said he was a psychopath but he speaks that "court-speak" which in my mind is just word salad. You go to a stranger's home to rob, find real people there and you're a part of a heinous crime ok? Nothing can erase what happened including intentions. They say hell is paved with good intentions but so is heaven.

To all the people judging this man in this comment section, think to yourself what environment and circumstances can take a person down this road. I would also like people to recognize that this man reconciled with the past, and through re-educating himself he became the better.
….. at the price of an innocent man dying and a family destroyed.
Exactly 💯 yet will make Plenty of excuses for serial k@llers, sh#@ters and all those "upstanding" people
Some people have the best environment, family, upbringing, etc and still choose to do wrong.
True and well said.
