@@blecis74 We COULD, but I think if we bring a judge in Sutekh will just turn them into dust, just as he's turning everybody else to dust. X'D I think it's best if we just let him have this.
If there's one thing I'm loving about this season, it's that Disney's Doctor Who is taking the campier, more obscure elements and characters of the series, and turning them into the stuff of nightmares.
@caedenide8721 considering that the Mara and Trickster are back in play now, I would not be at all surprised if the Gods of Ragnarok make their return during Gatwa's run.
This whole scene is pure goosebumps material. The music, the dialogue the threat which is reavling itself. I am so excited for the conclusion of this story.
In my opinion this is one of the best episodes yet. The 15th Doctor and his companion and other actors and actresses are outstanding in this series. The change to the show has got me watching again. All though I still go back and watch some of my old favorite doctors as well. I have favorite episodes and moments from classic Doctor Who to Tenant, Smith, Capaldi, and Jody Whittaker.
You wouldn't think from this scene that classic-era Sutekh was a one-off villain from the Fourth Doctor's run instead of a lasting archenemy. But the original serial was so well put together, and sold him so well as a huge threat, that he became iconic. And this reveal lives up to it. I think there are only two returns in the whole of the new series that have hit me this hard (Derek Jacobi becoming the Master, and more positively, seeing Sarah Jane Smith).
To be honest this is the best villain reveal I've seen in ages! Shame we didn't get to see the other gods mentioned other than the toymaker, maestro, trickster etc
@@patrickamsden3175 same, I wonder if the gods of Ragnarok are part of the pantheon as well? It's possible I suppose they could match the description of the threefold god and the god of spite could be the beast from the satan pit. I wonder who the gods of skin and secrets are ? 🤔
I thought it would be the Beast as well (and/or Fenric). But it might still be; in the original show, the Doctor gives "Satan" as one of Sutekh's other names; it could be that RTD is going to retcon them as being the same entity.
As someone who didn’t expect Sutekh to return, this instantly became one of the most impactful cliffhangers of my lifetime. It’s very difficult for a TV show to shock and scare me at the same time, but The Legend Of Ruby Sunday achieved that! Empire Of Death just didn’t hit nearly the same level, even though it should have! Definitely needed to be longer than 55 minutes. I never would have dreamed that Empire Of Death would end up getting such mixed reactions, but I knew something was up when Kate died within the first 5 minutes! I know second parts aren’t going to please everyone, but going from one of the best first parts to one of the most disappointing second parts is just frustrating. Having no one die and Ruby’s mum being ordinary didn’t fit with the fear factor of the first part. Hopefully Ncuti will get a finale when both parts are as good as each other 🤞
"There is just one player i didn't dare face: "The one who waits" i saw it, hiding, then i ran. That's someone else's game." -The Toymaker talking about Sutekh.
The season needed more of this feel. Not turning the whole season into a horror but it needed to take itself a smidge more seriously. You can tell this first part of the finale was slaved over the most out of RTD's own episodes because it actually achieves what it attempts. Part 2 fumbled it but damn the quality of this episode was absolutely fantastic
I love the idea of the pantheon of gods, if the doctor is the "timeless child and doesnt know where hes from. I think he should probably hail from whatever dimension the gods come from. Amd they all are attacking the doctor because hes dangerous. Let me explain. We see that when the doctor travels alone he becomes unstable, dangerous and more likely to kill without hesitation. We all remember when he said "good men doesnt need rules today is not the day to find out why i jave so many". Subconsciously theres always been that man thats willing to destroy. Remember what he said to me. Ill unit zygons dalek and cyber man to that street. If he'd done that ot wouldve effect the entire worlds cause the daleks and cyber men were not gonna stop. And we all know he would have done it just for clara. So we know the doctor has a mean streak. So what if, the dimension he comes from a war broke out among the gods and thwy all band together to stop him and they do some kind of magic to try and kill him, but they band together thinking they killed him but he ends up going to yhe current universe. Until he encounter the first god. The toymaker. He then tells the other gods and since then, they try to find a way into his universe. They all know who he is but the toynmaker notices in their first meeting .... he doesnt recognize him. He knows his memory is gone. So the pantheon slowly breaches the universe using harbingers as their vessels and sending them through the crack in the skin of the universe. Slowly each god through their harbingers slowly seeping through. All on a mission destroy the doctor. They are doing eaxctly what the silence were trying to do but in an opposite way. Remember when the timelords were trying to return the silence traveled up and down the doctors time stream. What if the war they saw wasnt the trenzalore, but it was an universal scale war. Centered back at trenzalore. With the crack opening there trenzzalore is effectively a weakpoint of the universe. So anything entering the universe more than likely will come out of thwt craxk. But here the doctor isnt him. Hes more visious more sadistic he falls to his darker side. The valeyard and wages war on the pantheon of gods for banishing him because hes the only form of the doctor that remembers who he actual is. The valeyaerd then proceeds to destroy everything in its wake trying to return home. The mahic that was done to the doctor pryor to him landing on gallefrey not only banished him but changed him entirely. Split his essence in half. Putting the valeyard deep into his subconscious and the one we see iis the good half. I hope this is a good read.
