This looks so cool. Casio + Timex seem to finally be figuring out how to make digital watches cool again. Casio seems to be going 80s retro (F91W) or tough/outdoorsy (g-shock + pro-trek) and timex is going 90s retro. Guys who only wear expensive luxury mechanical watches are missing out on the most fun, practical, affordable watches on the market. Given the successes of smart watches and fitness watches, I wonder if the enthusiast market will ever get over the successful "luxury" marketing of mechanical movements? Apple watches are already the most common watch in boardrooms across America. In what other category of goods besides watches do people prefer spending hundreds of times more money on an objectively worse performing technology for subjective aesthetic or craftsmanship preferences? Maybe classic cars? Some musical instruments? I have some vintage swiss stuff that I love, but I don't think it's the future.
The nato style strap is important because Ironman watches are notorious for the straps cracking. The watches are pretty much indestructible but the straps used to give way pretty soon.
I've had an Ironman as my gym watch for many years, and I agree, it's slightly larger and more legible than my G Shock and cheap Casios. Really love the display, and these colors are awesome. This channel is hurting my wallet.
Is this watch already discontinued? Can I find these James Brand Timex Ironman brand new in Amazon and eBay? I would buy that as my first Timex watch as I never owned a Timex watch before.
Didn't get the Huckberry Ironman when it got out, wanted to but never pulled the trigger. When I saw this I got the same impulse, even more with this one as it is just so cool. I'll have to get it, despite having multiple G-Shocks and digital Timex watches. 😅
I mean casio has expensive limited editions too, a recent example is the yellow 199€ hodinkee casio, where you can get the regular version vor 60€. You can get an ironman for 40€ (i have the 38mm size) with the resin strap, that one is really competitively priced, it’s got 100m wr and killer indiglo backlight, and the way it hugs the wrist is awesome. I have multiple casios I love, but the ironman is just different in a good way.
