Se, I currently have Prograde V90 128 gig cards in my A7s3…. Just upgraded my A7 III to the IV, primarily for photography, but it is being used as a second camera for interviews. I may occasionally want to shoot 60p, and it’s set to 4K 4:2:2 10 bit. The A7 IV has v60 Prograde cards. Should I consider replacing them with v90 for the second camera? I would rather put the difference into capacity than speed if the v90 isn’t needed on the A7 IV. Thanks for great videos as always!

My Sony Tough card and my friend's Sony Tough cards did not work as the specs when inserted in Sony A7S III. Since you don't know which is in stock by the vendors when you order these cards, I'm just putting the caution out there. I'll have to test this again with the new firmware that was released. If it works now, I'll update the video description or pin a comment at the top.

I am in PAL region and i can record in XAVC S 4K up to 50 FPS 4:2:2 10 bit ( 200 M ), but the problem is that i can't play the videos in any player on my PC that i use ( VLC player or default windows 10 Movie & TV player ) .....you can here the sound but the picture is frozen. It does the same with any 10bit file. They do work and play in Premiere Pro normally. I have to switch to 8 bit file and then everything is ok. I can't play any file with XAVC HS codec too.

Hi Hrvoje from Croatia! I had the same initial problem but it was fixed after I downloaded the VLC player. My guess is that they haven't made the new codec properly into the PAL formats. This file format is still very new. I don't think it's the SD card since it's the same exact file. Look for any updates from VLC player and hopefully you'll be able to play the files on your computer without opening Premiere soon.

The reason why the sony sd card doesnt work i the capacity. The older sony camera dont let you record xavc with a 32gb card and smaller. I think it is the same problem

Hi Silvan. That's a possibility and a strange Sony "cripple hammer". This card just came out like 2 year ago. I have a feeling the next A7S III firmware will fix this issue. All the SF-G cards had issues on the pre-production sample A7S III and I think when they fixed it with the production firmware, they forgot to include the 32 GB card.

that sony G card would have worked had it been 64 GB. 32 won't work for the higher quality / sq frame rates. should have at least 64

if i only want to film in 4k 60 in XAVC S I mode
will the pro grade v90 cards do?
i dont plan on shooting in S&Q and 4k120
    thanks brother!

Hey brother! Thanks! I film all my 4K60 10 bit 422 XAVC-S on Lexar v60 cards. The v90 card is needed if you're running proxies on top of that. I know you won't but the v60 can shoot 4K120 too. I have multiple v60 and just one v90 just for special projects. Bang for your buck! 👍
