Went into this 100% blind and was in no way prepared for just how phenomenal this was going to be? This is an actual masterpiece, like seriously an ACTUAL MASTERPIECE that is not just me being kind, this was literally amazing????? The story, the character development, particularly Isabelle's????? Just???? Everything???? Everyone who worked on this is so insanely skilled and just...!!!! Thank you?? For sharing this??
This is better than anything Nintendo could have thought for an official animal crossing movie, from the animation to the plot and the music. It’s amazing. Thank you !
i really like how Tom was interpreted here. he isn’t an unlikeable character or a villain. he’s actually important to plot and is actually my favorite character here. i enjoy when any animal crossing project won’t do the loanshark Nook cliche. so it’s nice to see him in a different light.
Imo he's always been rather nice. He's literally giving us a house and trusting us to pay back the money HE spent on it while not having any dead line or taxes. He introduces us to the town/ game and he's there for anything. There's not a single evil or even greedy sprout in his body imo. He gives us fair responsibility without any chance to fail it. The tricky and greedy one is Redd who sells fake stuff for tons of bells, hence his theme song is the town halls' song backwards.
@@simplynepp EXACTLY. he’s been my favorite, even in the older games where he was originally less liked. not only is he just really generous and kind, but he’s such a well developed character. everything down to his vocabulary was clearly thought out and built in well. he’s such a well made character and he’ll always be my favorite out of any special NPC.
Nook got memed on so much that in 2002 when the game first came out he got mentioned in the "new villan" category he didn't deserve that, Redd is the one who should of got put in that category in my opinion
The pain this movie addresses: 1. Absurdly long dialogues (we’re not 6 year old kids, you don’t have to explain every detail down to its core) 2. Crafting just 1 item every damn time and having to go through that long dialogue too 3. Seas bass. IDC IF YOURE A C+ AND HOW ARE YOU HERE EVERY SEASON EVERYDAY. 4. Tools breaking every 10 sec. Self explanatory 5. Fish baits are useless
Once started as a short about Lolly ended up becoming a full-on-length cinematic movie with an amazing storyline and soundtrack. Every scene led to mystery and suspension leading to a climactic ending. Glad I was able to be a part of this journey halfway through. And wow, I loved that intro! With the music and overall timing, it really gave the general tone of the movie right from the start. Densle, please take a nice long vacation, cause it looks like you been working non stop for two years! Great job again.
"The bugs keep talking to me!" and "Upgrade the store ONCE" got me good - and the "dream" sequences are always so well done! You've done a formidable work, it was such a privilege to see the story grows into this masterpiece!
HOW IS THIS PLOT SO WELL WRITTEN?? Mask Boy staying a villain having not a redemption arc is what we needed in the film industry of animation and we just got it on TH-cam with AMAZING GRAPHICS by Densle. All the characters being more than what they are in the game is normal for a video game movie by big industries, but were talking about youtube here. The place where people barely get recognition by people who could help them to work at some bigger company/team. So the motivation is insane. Thank you guys. (Also Kevin and Pietro are my favorite characters here)
I think people like Densle deserve the accolades of accomplishments for their hard-earned efforts... and this was done on a shoestring budget, for crying out loud! No bureaucrats, no actors with top billing... this was all the people who helped out with Densle, and a freeware 3-D program called Blender. I can't make heads or tails how use Blender, but the creator of this movie got a lot of bang for what his download gave him! I'd give him a donation if I wasn't jobless. Densle deserves a big one and a 2 T or more HDD storage unit for what it's worth.
also about Mask Boy- breaking the 4th wall to show him irl playing a game makes things very interesting! like all the players are representatives of the culture around playing New Horizons. he wasn't playing ALL that differently from the average player. bringing forward the fact that this is just someone playing a game, ignorant to the fact the characters have complex thoughts, feelings, and relationships really adds another layer to Mask Boy! just ugh- Mask Boy being the "toxic" part of NH culture (and/or a more realistic player) ((judging villagers based on appearance and holding his island to a standard of looks)) Kevin representing how it FEELS to play NH (tools constantly breaking, the pressure to get everything you need to in time, sea bass...) and Megan being the intended player (caring about their villagers despite their personalities being trash in NH)
It started with the garbage hat recipe Lolly had. Then there was the auction, where Suzy was going to give Raymond to someone else, and Mask won the auction, Suzy was upset about losing Raymond, and I don’t think she trusted Mask. Then there was Pietro’s show, Mask threatening him to cancel the show, Pietro putting on the show anyways, and Mask just staring, plotting something. Then there was the town meeting, where villagers had complaints about Mask, with Filbert trying to catch bugs, Hippeaux getting hit by Mask with a net, Timmy and Tommy dealing with Mask breaking into Nook’s Cranny just for gas, then Pietro, when Mask used said gas to set Pietro’s house on fire while he was putting on his show. Kevin just tried to complete the freaking museum. Then there was Mask with his construction kit, using time travel through the Nintendo Switch (which wasn’t real time travel) to redesign the island, then there was the dream Isabelle had, where she described her dream to Luna, then met Wisp the ghost, who told her about Mask stealing his third soul piece, and Wisp had to wait for a long time to get all his soul pieces back, then there was a second town meeting, then the villagers came to Mask’s house, where Isabelle said he had to be evicted, but Mask only quit the game, then came back to the main menu, and reset the world, sending his villagers to different islands, trapping Tom Nook in the abyss of the Help Menu, and going to another island. Then Isabelle was able to reconnect with Tom Nook, and she went to Mask’s new Island as Megan, whose island she ended up on, and she started changing his island, freeing the villagers on his new island, and causing Mask’s Nintendo Switch to break. Whew, that’s a lot
They could literally market this as a movie, even with of a fraction of the resources it's already so much more creative with a higher quality of animation than what they did for Mario
I love how mask is so terrifying but also so childlike. Making sonic stuff and doing little tricks like time skips. Then destroying worlds with the click of a button. How his transformations to the island are terrifying as they happen, but beautiful when we see them. He's sort of like all of us. But then there are things we could never do that make him so menacing. He's not just some kid playing around and being a little mean. He talks to them, he counters Tom's atrempt to save his friends. Pietro's show isn't just an annoying event, its a man with a dream. Rebelling against him, and being punished for it. "You're not real." Is so much more *heartless* when they make it so clear they are real, they feel, they care about eachother, they get scared, they stand up and say ENOUGH. Its just that he doesn't think they can *really* do anything to him. And technically, he can get another console. But the point was to teach him a lesson. A masterpeice. This was an amazing watch.
They tried to evict him. So he had to delete the island to move to a new island. He did what all the villagers wanted, but the problem was that they didn't understand what their world was.
44:18 "It doesn't matter. Where you go, whoever you dress up as, or whatever new mask you put on, there's no wiping away your true colors, because we have lived through them. And we will not forget this. I promise you that." Beautiful! I shed tears! This is powerful and applies to my life in ways you can't even begin to imagine.
I love Tom and Isabelle’s relationship. Sure he’s her boss, but he still loves (platonically) and cares for her, the way a dad, uncle, or older brother would. The way they can be real with each other is a great way to show a great dynamic.
1:01:46 Nearly spat out my coffee, this whole thing is so immersive and you're so dialed into the consequences of the characters the whole time and then the 4th wall break makes everything feel so nonsensical hahaha
I dunno, the only thing taking me out of this was the glaring spelling mistakes in the bubbles. Everything else was so high quality, it was really disappointing to see they didn't check common grammar issues.
I'm so immensely impressed by how you managed to make all of the lore, gameplay, etc. of ACNH into a pretty solid storyline. Players like Mask do indeed exist, people who're never satisfied with their islands, villagers, etc. I really like the existential-horror dread vibe you went with. It makes total sense from the NPC's point of view. Fantastic job!!
When you really think about it, it's not over. All Tom did was delay the inevitable. His switch is fried, but there's nothing stopping him on the outside from getting a new switch and taking back what's his. But honestly, I'm satisfied with what this project accomplished. You are the G.O.A.T.
It is possible though that he might be smart enough to realize the characters broke his switch and could do it again. The threat of that may save the next island from his tyranny

i really love how Densle had more to their story, even if they were just to help transition the scenes. executed really well and each one is entertaining :D
Ty!! Honestly I'm a bit confused at Isabelle's short nightmare and why Densle added it- it doesn't seem to foreshadow anything else in the story and is Very ominous. Absolutely love it but I'm also wondering what story implications it has
I clicked on this not knowing what it was... and thank god I did. This was simply amazing. I am rarely the type to sit down and watch a movie start to finish, but you better believe my ass was SAT during this. I have never seen an Animal Crossing fan project so beautifully detailed and interesting. It is clear that immense time and effort went into this production, and it shows. I enjoyed every aspect- the writing, animation, sound design, and humor were all on point. Isabelle's dream sequences were the coolest to me. The clay-mation look really made those scenes feel dreamy and distant (in a good way) from the rest of the scenes. The pacing and storytelling was wonderfully done, as well as the writing for all of the characters. Their dialogue felt very in-character despite the subject matter diverging from the canon. I could go on and on. Fantastic work- many kudos.
I just stumbled on this and watched it in one go. WHO ARE YOU?? This is insanely well done! You have such a talent for storytelling AND animation. I can't believe this is not the work of a big professional team being paid for their work. Thank you for making this, I enjoyed it so much!!
Same here! Also as a person who has a degree in general animation (where we did a lot of 3D work) this entire movie is an actual master piece, it’s SO well done and impressive to me!
I rushed to make a comment as soon as I watched it all. I couldn’t look away. It was amazing. I was trying to find the words to tell the creator how good this is, but you have done it perfectly for me. I was totally drawn in by the story. The animation is amazing. I saw someone before comment about grammar in some of the speech bubbles and I thought are you kidding me? That’s just so my new to the nobody even noticed it, except for one person. Congratulations to the creator here. This was amazing and I have been showing it to all my friends and family
I know I might be late to the grand premiere but... This movie is just amazing. It is truly, cinema. I am not an old fan of Animal Crossing, but I just feel it. I feel for the villagers, I feel Isabelle, Nook, everyone. I have never understood how anyone could treat them like that... Once a savefile is created, the town is born... And will never go away, permanent like. It is like there is something special about characters from THIS game. It is like they ARE truly alive. You put a very important message in here... It doesnt matter what we call games or not, "just a game" is not an excuse to show the bad side of ourselves, we should still be moral. We should be kind, accepting, and understand that all of those critters in our consoles do in fact, deserve to live and choose, and think, and be themselves... Not to be ruled by a dictator who profiles folk by species and personality, who sets up the fake facade of their "Utopia", while devastating everything and everyone around themselves. Maybe it comes off cheesy as I care so much about these "little guys" but, maybe they just mean more for me... I wish to thank everyone who worked on this. I wish peace and health to everyone, who also finds this game a little outlet of happiness and joy. I'm out.
God seeing it edited together was so fun! I loved the added scenes, and that post-credits reveal was great. Looking forward to what you have in store for us next!
This animation is amazing. This has some serious top-tier quality about it, no joke. The graphics, animations, and especially the story. It gave me Twin Peaks Dreamworld vibes, especially with Nook and Isabelle. I think, by far, my favorite part was between Nook and Mask boy during the Reset. The Dialogue from Nook hits pretty hard in the moment. Now the game itself hits different after this. Thanks for putting so much time into this. It really shows. I've watched it a time or two now, and I feel like some modern day movies don't reach out narratively like this did.
Filbert and Pietro in the bunk beds was too dang cute! My favourite bit out of all the episodes, is Hippeux being flung out the house as its flying through the air 😂 wonderfully written and the animation is phenomenal, well done!
Words can't even come anywhere close to expressing how freaking incredible this whole movie is, there isn't a single part of it that isn't done pretty much perfectly The story, the models, the lighting, the sound design, the way you animated things, the music, everything is just pure perfection. Your talent for this is just absolutely unreal. The *_massive_* amount of time and effort you put into this movie completely shows, it is impossible to express how freaking phenomenal you did on each and every thing in it. Now take a break, you completely deserve it after putting so much time and effort into this!
I dont know what to say, you made an entire animation movie, and let us watch it for free. We are more than grateful and I hope good things come to you. After watching this I’m very happy that I didn’t treat my villagers badly and I try to decorate the island to make sure they stay in a beautiful and comfortable place ☺️ Also, as a graduated 3D animation student myself, i can’t help to be amazed by your skills, hope to see more of your amazing work ✨✨
Seeing them edited together makes this experience SO much more enjoyable. Originally, I only saw Town Meeting. Now I'm about to see the full story with some popcorn. Seriously, kudos for making this, it's such high quality
This needs to be acknowledged by Animal Crossing officially. They got a movie to promote their game so beautifully, and you deserve a goddamn award for this. This was pure beauty❤❤❤
1:06:25 - Mask gets told off and "The-Reason-You-Suck" Speech is glorious. Add to the fact that he can't run away makes it even better. 1:07:31 - Ooo! Isabelle's last parting shot, a verbal middle finger. *_BURN!!!_* 1:07:42 - Three words telling Mask's player enough is enough. 1:07:45 - You know you're *_BEYOND SCREWED_* when your own Switch *_WILLINGLY_* explodes. 🎮💥😱
This actually changed the way i see animal crossing as a whole, i cant stop thinking about this whenever i play, this movie is a masterpiece, the character development, the antagonist, even the side characters are amazing. my only complaints is that some side characters didnt get enough screentime, I thought something would be done with Kevin, and thats why he kept showing up but it doesnt matter, he still makes a great addition. This movies great.
The sheer creativity and craftsmanship that went into this film is absolutely outstanding! I was full-heartedly expecting like a "home video" style of film made inside of Animal Crossing with like the camera and visiting Harvey's island to set up stuff. So MAN was I blown away when I found out that there was legitimate animation and rendering involved! Bravo to everyone who worked on the project, from animation to writing to sound editing to so much more, you did amazing! My favorite parts were the dream sequences and live action sequences, especially when the switch overheated and blew up. Master effects right there. This really made my day, I'm truly inspired. =)
1:03:22 Man that scene is so good, the panning view over the forest fire and the lasers blasting into the sky with the hour theme in the background. Just that small scene is such a superbly beautiful mix of sound and camera work
As someone who plays acnh daily, I LOVED the topic of this and how it related to the story so well. And all the characters places in the story and what they did made so much sense. Keep up the good work!❤️
I kind of understand Mask Boy, the urge to have a wonderful 5 star island, and catching bugs villagers are pretending to catch, basically most of us are Mask Boy. (except for the arson)
"I think deep down there's some good in you somewhere. It's just a shame that you'd rather show us none of it. That said . . . on behalf of every animal you've crossed . . . kindly get bent." 1:07:03 So powerful! I always assume the good in people, but the truth is that many people would rather only give you the bad. I dedicate your movie to my "best friend" who this night, I have chosen to end my friendship with, and because of your video, I finally feel I have the strength to do it. Thank you kindly for this. You are an actual saint, and these videos touch lives in ways you will never know.
Wait... so technically each copy of Animal Crossing is personalized? 1:01 I love the intro, it really seems like a Netflix series full of twists that keep you hooked, presenting characters that you don't know yet but you're going to meet, plus how they did it when we created our avatar and made it look like poetic form? Does it fascinate me? good movie
Fr when he said something along the lines of "dude did you catch me a bug, you know hating bugs is like my only personality trait right?" I couldn't stop chuckling.
unironically this is so well well-made and well-written and manages to find the right balance between funny and emotional :') i'm really glad i found this also i feel the need to be like 10x nicer to my villagers now lol
Absolutely unreal. You are an animation inspiration for this. And the amount you have improved over the course of the whole series has been super cool to watch as well. I can't wait to see what you're going to come up with next!
At first I wasn’t expecting something like that, throughout the movie I was completely hypnotized and worshipped by the amount of work which seemed like you spent so much times in this project. I truly admired the way it’s been going on and this whole masterpiece.
Seeing how the characters experience the game is super interesting. The story reminds me of DDLC and other 4th wall breaking media. The animation is stellar and I love Isabelle’s dream sequence.
Great job as always, Densle! Didn’t expect to be credited as an additional writer during the credits of this masterpiece, but I’m glad that some of the ideas I suggested during the development streams made it to the finished product!
27:53 I love the frame of timmy and tommy holding a crucifix to mask boy. This animation is so well done!!!! It give the universe so much more life to it! bravo! amazing!
I came across the clip of Kevin fishing posted on FB and ended up watching this entire movie. Amazing. The existential dread sequence was chef’s kiss. So glad the villagers all found happier homes and lives. I feel bad letting villagers move out even when I don’t really like them. They always grow on me. Lmao.
Gonna be honest I've never played animal crossing I've always wanted to play Watched few videos then your animation started popping up on my recommendation After finishing all these masterpiece started playing the game Now I'm in love with this game Thank you for creating such masterpiece of a work
The animation, the writing, the music...it's all so perfect and I am shocked your work is not nearly as big as it should be. There's literally nothing that I think could have been changed to make it better. It's almost frustrating that I can't find anything wrong.
This is an absolutely genius way to tell a story about Animal Crossing that makes it its own real world...while still being a video game. Just...my God. This was beautifully done. I'm a little sad the claymation part was simulated and not real claymation, but I understand how difficult that would be and am impressed you got the textures so damn good. I hope this stays a long time before Nintendo shoots it down. I'm happy I got to see this. Thank you so much for working so hard on this. I do have to say, I was dismayed to see my dear Wade in such distress. Poor guy must've been having a nightmare in his seaside house on my island!
this is a masterpiece. A MASTERPIECE. im not sure if this was intentional but i absolutely loved the 'Get Out' aspects in this, from the auction scene to isabelle going "under"? this is actually insanely captivating.
This is better than most movies being made today. The animation was incredible, the soundtrack was great all the way through, and the plot had me engaged from start to finish. By the end, I had forgotten that this movie wasn’t made by Nintendo. Amazing work.
My mom and I watched this for movie night tonight! I remember watching some of the shorts a few years ago and it was super fun to see them all come together. Fantastic work!!!
“All you need to complete the fossil section of the Meuseum is the philosophorous’s left toe, but man, this ain’t it.” “My man, did you get a whole ass whale in this tiny little bag”

This was the best little movie to watch before starting my in-game day. It has me thinking twice about how i interact with my villagers on my island. My island is called Opana, which means Harmony and i try to make sure it's just that, harmonious. Also, ya'll did such a beautiful job on the animations, i was looking at everything to see what it was and i loved it!

While Kevin’s siting there in pain cuz he couldn’t find that left foots toe or something
accurate representation of viewing this video
i couldnt agree more honestly. the end made me cry and some parts just made me die laughing.
Yeah, minus all the grammar and spelling mistakes, it was pretty good.
Exactly that.
This is better than anything Nintendo could have thought for an official animal crossing movie, from the animation to the plot and the music. It’s amazing. Thank you !
Well, there is already an animal crossing movie!! It's 2D animated. But yeah, this is a lot different hahaha
And waay better than anything Illumination could have thought of for a licensed IP..which isn't saying much
I think it would be a bit too edgy for them but agreed haha
No doubt! This is the best
There's already an animal crossing movie based in wild world
This deserves so much more attention-
This was beautifully made and I loved every moment of this movie!
I look forward to more projects like it!!
😍amazing
Wow, 100 bucks! That’s a lot! Densle will appreciate it.
YOUR RICH-
i really like how Tom was interpreted here. he isn’t an unlikeable character or a villain. he’s actually important to plot and is actually my favorite character here.
i enjoy when any animal crossing project won’t do the loanshark Nook cliche. so it’s nice to see him in a different light.
Basically he's cannon nook. And not based off of memes
@@Simipourfangirl yup, pretty much. which i very much appreciate.
Nook got memed on so much that in 2002 when the game first came out he got mentioned in the "new villan" category he didn't deserve that, Redd is the one who should of got put in that category in my opinion
The pain this movie addresses:
1. Absurdly long dialogues (we’re not 6 year old kids, you don’t have to explain every detail down to its core)
2. Crafting just 1 item every damn time and having to go through that long dialogue too
3. Seas bass. IDC IF YOURE A C+ AND HOW ARE YOU HERE EVERY SEASON EVERYDAY.
4. Tools breaking every 10 sec. Self explanatory
5. Fish baits are useless
The fact that you can cook and eat them feels like sweet (and salty) justice.
I liked it….
The worst bit is when you’re trying to fly somewhere and you have to keep going through the same damn menu options with Orville
Oh god they’re Hamilton in almost all the songs now-
Yknow i got his dodo code? its 7HLCK
Which kk name is the intro song?
"The bugs keep talking to me!" and "Upgrade the store ONCE" got me good - and the "dream" sequences are always so well done! You've done a formidable work, it was such a privilege to see the story grows into this masterpiece!
MASK tposing as he exits the game is what gets me
@@WORMPONY That too! Such small but brilliant details
“I’m just here because everyone else is”
“MY TREES ARE GONE”
that "garbage: and its a hat!" twist was insane
absolute masterpiece
Densle deserves a big one and a 2 T or more HDD storage unit for what it's worth.
also about Mask Boy- breaking the 4th wall to show him irl playing a game makes things very interesting! like all the players are representatives of the culture around playing New Horizons. he wasn't playing ALL that differently from the average player. bringing forward the fact that this is just someone playing a game, ignorant to the fact the characters have complex thoughts, feelings, and relationships really adds another layer to Mask Boy!
just ugh- Mask Boy being the "toxic" part of NH culture (and/or a more realistic player) ((judging villagers based on appearance and holding his island to a standard of looks))
Kevin representing how it FEELS to play NH (tools constantly breaking, the pressure to get everything you need to in time, sea bass...)
and Megan being the intended player (caring about their villagers despite their personalities being trash in NH)
@@CrowLady0_0 Fantastic analysis!!
Mask has a redemption arc on an densle approved part 2 fan made (its good quality btw)
This entire movie has me speechless and deserves to be in a movie theater.
They could literally market this as a movie, even with of a fraction of the resources it's already so much more creative with a higher quality of animation than what they did for Mario
Yes it’s incredible! I feel like I shouldn’t even get to watch it for free so I’m donating to his Patreon. It was an amazing experience
I would pay to see this in theaters bro like this is better than some of the movies that cost billions to make. Had me cheering at work
I love how mask is so terrifying but also so childlike.
He is a hacker.

If i was that kid i would leave the game immediately
« So play nice! » Woody

The way they can be real with each other is a great way to show a great dynamic.
ok
Same with tom, timmy and tommy. The backstory is that nook took them in from the streets and is like their older brother or uncle
35:22 the fact that the creator had the nuance of detail to slow the soundtrack in the dream, and then speed up in the real world, is so cool to me.

1:01:46 Nearly spat out my coffee, this whole thing is so immersive and you're so dialed into the consequences of the characters the whole time and then the 4th wall break makes everything feel so nonsensical hahaha
IKR

Ty!! Honestly I'm a bit confused at Isabelle's short nightmare and why Densle added it- it doesn't seem to foreshadow anything else in the story and is Very ominous. Absolutely love it but I'm also wondering what story implications it has
Love the idea that the villan is just an angsty teen lol. Great work!
EXACTLY
SAME RECTION !!! I am completely stunned.
I'm out.
The Great Pietro always breaks my heart with how wholesome it is
God seeing it edited together was so fun! I loved the added scenes, and that post-credits reveal was great. Looking forward to what you have in store for us next!

Words can't even come anywhere close to expressing how freaking incredible this whole movie is, there isn't a single part of it that isn't done pretty much perfectly

Originally this was a series of short videos the creator made over a period of time that was stitched together. That's probs why
Someone said that Kevin represents the small(ish) annoyances in the game (catching sea bass over and over, tools breaking constantly, etc)
I love how mask boy isn't even a villain considering to him he was just messing around in a video game he's like sid from toy story
