    The valve stem is yes, $45. But that's a bit misleading. We strongly encourage you to also buy the $17 installation manual, unfortunately even the purchase of the manual does not give you license to install the valve yourself. Also shipping and handling (we usually ship it from your nearest distribution center but it always goes to our district location, back to corporate, through quality control and back to your distribution center, where it will sit lost for a couple weeks. Then we send it to you. When you receive it you'll have to bring it in to our service technician for professional installation, if you want to keep your warranty anyway- We give you the choice:)
    Remind the tech to reset the valve sensor or it will lock you out of the system after 24 hrs

    Ah the old broken valve stem!
    Once upon a time a lifetime ago I was a Tire tech for a Growing tire chain, I was known as the Flat Repair Guru(FRG) Aka Frag (because I had left for 4 years Army and I kinda got used to being called a nickname) I got good at checking out the valve stem first, once out of sight as I would receive a tire up front and have to take it back to the tire machines and dunk tank. Can’t remember how many times a tire and wheel would be rolled in by a customer, and improperly installed Hub cap, removed by the time it had come to me was used to Lacerate the rubber stem from where it could not be seen. Same thing happened with so many stems that had been packed with snow and or slush overnight. As it froze up solid it would sheer the rubber stem as it expands and in the morning sunshine the poor customer would find the flat tire and no reason for it because the sun had melted the ice away from wheel. But Flat is Flat and all the inexperienced people who put gas in and Go, out there probably have been baffled by this for years! If you live anywhere that it can freeze water in the day or overnight you would be wise to go around your vehicle before the end of the day and check it out to look for a clod of ice or snow packed around your valve stem. Or even the fender bergs that once frozen solid can immobilize your vehicle come morning. Not only do they freeze solid but you can blow your power steering lines and cause extensive damage in many parts of your steering and suspension. Hey in the Army we had a list of things called PMCS (preventative maintenance checks and services) they were in order of Before During and After checks. Hey it’s not rocket science, most people never read their owners manual!
    As a life long Mechanic I also have to review things that I have forgotten! And over the weekend, we had to change our clocks again and I always forget about how to do that with one of the vehicles. And as I love to remind my Kids “I’ve Forgotten more than you ever learned about in this point of your own life!” And some of it you will never have to know... like 3 on a Tree manual Transmission shifting... Who Remembers that?

      Still voids the physical parts warranty. And this issue mostly effects the big machines sold to professional farms. The difference being that they have business reasons for buying new and replacing around the end of the warranty as they may wear out a tractor in 5-10 years with near continuous use. (A high ball operation can't usually justify the downtime, reduced performance, and nickle and dime costs of old equipment placed in a primary production role. And they only need so many old backup machines for misc. side tasks, especially when they have a fleet of 5-10 primary tractors.)

      @randr10 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yup. I've got a drawer full of a couple different lengths of valve stems in the shop. Paid maybe $10 for a bag full of each. The only thing that will stop a new one from sealing is rust or loose paint. Just clean the ID of the hole with a knot end brush before you put a new one in if it's rusty, apply with some soapy water and they'll seal every time. Same with the beads. On steel wheels, clean off any loose paint or rust with a wire wheel, install with soapy water so you don't tear the rubber and no need for bead sealer. They'll hold air for years without leaking even with a little bit of rust pitting.

    That stye of Tractor tire in the Central Montana mud was known for slipping slightly and the lip on the stem eyelet would sheer the valve stem. Some Tire guys are either ex-Motocrosser or just know how to put what we used to call a valve lock(just what it sounds) so if rubber moves on steel the valve stem is not compromised. Additionally, if your ever having beading problems w/ that style of tractor tire one can try a Motocross style ratcheting strap for a girdle around the tire often providing just the right amount of bead resistance/support. In conclusion, lubing the piss out of the rim-lip too will sometimes obstruct air flow momentarily and bead will find its way home.

    • @mytech6779
      @mytech6779 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its a tubeless tire, bead slip has no effect on the valve stem. Beadlocks (various styles) are still useful if running low pressures,[like under 15psi] to prevent the bead wear or a sudden burp flat. They aren't usually needed for that size tire because it would normally be kept at a high enough pressure for good rim friction.
      Also, an R4 tread in the mud shouldn't develop half the torque needed to cause bead slip in any cases this side of a flat tire.

    • @tylertkelley6779
      @tylertkelley6779 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mytech6779 Not bead locks but rather, a double nutted valve lock like on my racing rims for loamy tracks like Washougal. Used them on tractors(tubeless) in Montana as well; some of the shops whom are savy sometimes suggest them even now days.

    • @mytech6779
      @mytech6779 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tylertkelley6779 I have used tubes with Dunlop valves. (I think this is what you are talking about.) They are handy for keeping the tube positioned during initial assembly and bead seating. They have been on all of my dual sport motorcycles. Also useful is totally deflating and reinflating a tube several times before installing the valve core so it can settle without strains, the dunlop makes this very easy.
      But I have only seen the style on tubeless rims as part of an alloy rim for show where they didn't want any black rubber visible.
      On an inflated tube there is way more friction with the tire than the strength of the rubber around the valve stem so slipping would likely tear the tube around the "locking" stem anyway.
      Larger tractors usually have a larger multi piece valve body for liquid ballast, with a shrader or dunlop insert for normal air pressure adjustment.

    Compressed air straps for encouraging the tread inward thus thrusting beads outward. The strap shortens when inflated, after snuggly wrapping the girth of tire.

    Thick grease works great to fill the gap in between the rim and bead just gobb'er on thick. it lets it build just enough pressure to get it to seat. Great trick when you're stranded and only have the crap pump that everyone has behind the seat.

    Dr. Bronners Pepperming Pure Castile Soap - absolutely the best soap in the world for using on a hot day to take a shower. You feel instantly cooled off. It leaves no soap film on the shower walls. It makes you smell like a peppermint stick. I love it. I have been using it since the 60's, Since the GNC stores closed up, I can not get this at my local Walmart.

    Livin in Messico I learned to mix cornmeal and water to make a "dough" that ya pack between the tire and rim bead to seal it. Then air it up and watch as it oozes out when the bead seats Not as "flashy" nor as exciting as any of those accelerants but much safer...
