    It's a great bike in this price that Royal Enfield has produce, just did my first longest ride from Darjeeling to Kolkata with my wife which is 650km, total 1300km up n down..and no issues in this bike. Had a great experience..Thanxx RE

    Right, I just subscribed, because instead of just repeating others and saying it is no use for UK roads and motorways, you took it out and tried it with an open mind. Obviously not for the person that does constant motorway miles, but it looks fine for the occasional motorway blast if needed. And for real people not bike testers, the 100mpg is really great, lower taxation class as well - we can't all afford 12k Japanese bikes can we.

      Thanks for subscribing 👍. You’re totally right. This bike is so easy to ride, looks nice, great mpg, and for a new bike it’s cheap. But it doesn’t feel cheap. I really like this bike and I’m seriously thinking about buying one myself.

    When hunter was first released in asian subcontinent, instantly all the motocycle magazine reviewed that this bike will be a flop, as royal enfield already had a city dweller called scram 411(most people use the scram in city). But to everyones surprise hunter became the second highest sold bike in India after Royal enfield classic. It increased the sales of RE by 53%.

    As a biker "of a certain age" and not wanting a scooter this is right up my alley. I have to test one but it looks very enticing.. The price is right that I can "mess with it" with the extra change. Air filter,decat and pipe to help it breathe betteer. When Hitchcock/tec bike parts get a drop in cam that would be a treat!!

    My reaction to the Hunter was just like this. Liked the look of it, was very impressed with a test ride and bought one. It's been a joy. Handles beautifully, sounds lovely, just a nice bike to take for a spin. It's the smallest bike I've owned for some time, usually had 500 twins and the like, but I've not enjoyed a bike so much for ages. Makes me smile every time I ride it. And it's a bargain. It'll be my daughter's first bike post test, after which we'll share it for a while. It'll be perfect as a first bike, but it's entertaining enough for me with over thirty years of riding under my belt. If I don't get a Scram after, I'll get another one of these.

    Lots of people haven’t realised yet that bikes like this are basically the future of petrol motorcycles. With legislation being constantly squeezed and fuel costs rising year upon year, they make perfect sense. Plus the longer you ride bikes, the more you tend to appreciate that going back to lighter and smaller CC’s with less equipment, is actually a lot of fun. Those who are still drunk on only measuring bikes by horsepower alone, need to wake up and smell the clean air zones, smart motorways, and fuel prices.
    I’d get one myself, if I hadn’t just bought a Scram 4 days ago from In2moto 😂👍

    Good to see your close-up shots. I wonder how the footpeg positioning compares to the Classic; the brake and gear pedals do look more usable.
    Much as I like the Classic (having owned a Bullet 500 in the past) I think this might be the best of the 350s for someone my size (6'4'' unfortunately). All it needs is a set of hard panniers and a top box but that is just me being me.

    I'm in line to test one of these soon, had to cancel the previous test as I injured my knee the day before. I previously really fancied an Interceptor 650 and rented one in Fuertaventura last year and I really loved it. However, the Hunter is a fantastic looking bike and way lighter than the 650 and I love singles, always have. I did get excited once about the BSA GS but just not convinced. I think the Hunter would sit very nicely next to my RD400 and give me that modern day reliability if the RD is having an 'off period' 🙂 - If I like it on the test I will be getting a Dapper Grey for sure.

Lovely set of accessories coming on the market for the bike. Very affordable bike for the Indian rider who wants something more than a commuter bike. There’s a ‘classic’ version of the Hunter in India with spoked wheels- surprised it’s not released in the UK.
    But I have doubts over whether A2 holders in the Uk would be happy with an underpowered bike. Or is RE hoping they would buy it as a second bike to be ridden around town?

It’s a small bike. Really easy to ride. Great around town and so much fun on country lanes. Great MPG. Great price less than £4000. The only thing I don’t like about the Hunter 350 so far is how soon you have to have the bike serviced (300 miles) and how much it costs to do a basic service. The local dealer wants £200, so they can get stuffed.
    I could do it myself for 20 quid.

    • @GillyBikes
      @GillyBikes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s fairly normal with most bikes. Apparently they have cheap oil in from the factory so after it’s ran for a few miles normally between 200-600 miles it needs an oil change after that first one it’s normal yearly service. To be fair I’ve bought a few new bikes over the last few years. I had to do the same with a Kawasaki, Honda and a Suzuki. Pretty much the same.

      I had the speedo showing 70mph and it felt like it had a little bit more in it but I eased off at 70 with it being new. It does seem to be a little bit quicker than the meteor and classic. Wether that’s down to it being lighter or engine tuning I’m not sure.

    • @Plough78
      @Plough78 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Add a red rooster exhaust and a Stage 2 DNA filter Kit and the Meteor will happily cruise all day at 80mph I've heard.

      Nope the Meteor has a speed limiter which kicks in at 72mph so any power increase does nothing for top speed.

      @Plough78 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jamesbarrie2458 So these additions will just get it there quicker.🤔. Can't this limiter be disabled... 🤔 Just curious. Personally 72 mph will do me just fine.

      It's all in the ecu software so unless some can hack it no. The dna filter and cover does improve performance as you say, personally I am quite happy with the top speed as it is.

    It takes Royal Enfield to deliver a 350cc bike with the raw power of a Japanese unrestricted 125. - And a parallel twin 650cc with less than 2/3 power of the Japanese competition. My 500cc GPZ500 parallel had 59bhp to the Interceptors' 650, and my SV650 twin supposedly 69. So by the time you psent more liberating a few ponies, you spent as much as buying a better bike like a Triumph. We have better roads in the UK (just), and despite the cost of petrol, are a more affluent society. This bike should be delivered, tuned accordingly.

    • @GillyBikes
      @GillyBikes  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’ve been on lots of 125’s non of them were as fast as this one. But I do take your point. For the engine size they should be capable of more. That being said I did really enjoy my day with this bike. I found it to be loads of fun around town, motorway and country lanes. I didn’t once think “if only it had more power”. So for me I’m happy as it is.
      I look at it this way, me, you and every other biker out there has another bike we can chose from when we buy our next bike.

      The figures on paper don't tell the full story.. having borrowed a Meteor for a day i can honestly say i was surpised how much fun it was. As for 47 bhp 650 twins. there is legal reason for that.

      @@stevegascoigne1482 So add a restrictor kit for those with A2. Let the rest of us have a bike that with an extra 20% power, is still going to be slower and heavier than the learners friend, the SV650.

      you cant compare a liquid cooled with air cooled! the 95% of market is from india. there you need incredible reliable engines to stand up agains heat, dirt, rain and maintnance done by the owner or very basic mechanics. A high performance motor is always more fragile. this air cooled single motors with screw type valve adjusters are as simple as a modern motor can be. i understand that for european and american roads 10 more hp are a requirement but still, some people prefer to ditch some performance in favor of price, looks and easy going mechanics.
