I miss going perfume sniffing so much! This one goes on my "to sniff list" and when shops open again I will probably go for a whole day of nothing else than finding these gems.
It’s the most beautiful interpretation of night blooming jasmine if you're familiar with the flowers. It’s not a soliflore by any means. It renders a very realistic aroma of this particular flower wrapped in honey, incenses and musk. I only get honey and jasmine prominently, other notes aren’t accentuated to my nose. I think it’s a very alluring offering, a scent of muse who allures the creator into sleepless nights!
A new Serge Lutens! This is one of my all-time favorite houses (and I love how you sum up their approach) so that's very exciting. Thank you for another comprehensive review that hits every key point. This one sounds like a winner!
I am such a fan of this house. For me this is niche perfumery at its finest. Very elegant well thought perfumes. It is a potty that with the rebranding they have fallen out of everyones radar....BC they are really hard to test and to get... They have really gone away from the spotlight.... (And the new pricing....ehem....)
Many a Serge fragrance is inspired by his life story. Some of the best fragrances have very few notes in lovely harmony. Glad it brings you joy. I now own 5 of his perfumes, all unique and ideal in their own way..and very Serge.
I own this one and love it, too. It is similar to a lot of fragrances in one way or another, e.g. Caron's Nuit de Noel, Estee Lauder's Spellbound, Bijan Bijan, albeit not nearly as opulent and plush as Bijan, and not at all a little of Dana's Tabu. It also reminds me of Lush Lust and Rogue Jasmin Antique.
I've stopped exploring Lutens when names became more complexe then the actual fragrance. Didn't appreciate the tomfordish, fifty shades of soft SM style the house engaged in. But you make me curious about this one, love honey and jasmine!
Excellent stuff, great to hear about this 1st from you. So many lutens i want but only currently have chergui & jeux de peau, I’ve got a list of around 10 more that i want 😂
I cannot wait to try this! Thank you!! I too have been lax on some of the newer Serge Luten's. They came out so fast for a while and well, just didn't get to them. But thank you again for your really fantastic reviews.
I smell more wax than honey in that one. Like the encaustic we use on wooden furniture or staircases. The jasmin is gorgeous though, very opulent, heady without being cloying. It is really sensual to me.
I have been binge watching your etat libre d'orange reviews for the last week. Great reviews. One of my favorites of theirs is 500 Years. I would love to hear your thoughts on that one if you're interested. Good good good!
To me this fragrance opened with a combination of medicinal and very animalic tones on my skin. I tried several times but ultimately decided it wasn’t for me, it does calm down in the dry down but it was still too sharp, cold, and a hint too animalic for my taste, probably due to the honey and musk. Like no joke it was almost as animalic as MKK (in the opening), probably just how my skin reacts to the SL musks.
So many new fragrances , along with so many new companies , I understand. To get my nose around this, I've decided to focus on one theme . Right now it's going to be , well I've seem to have deleted my bookmarks except for Jardin Nocturne & Jasmine Antique . I had a bunch of skanky perfumes to sample , but as stated , I must have removed the bookmarks of them. Back to the homework. Anyways, the last new Serge I got a decant of, you can get decants for this house at good prices, was le participe passe . I think most would take a pass on this one for the cumin note is there , and prevalent . It's a caramel & cumin combo. I like it. Most people around me don't , except for those from middle eastern countries. The Nepalese/Bhutanese just love it . They also love Mancera's Red Tobacco , perfumes like that. They love their perfume . Prettyist Vampire , ok, you got me their . I know what decant I'm going to get . I'm going to get Aqua di Parma's Colonial Club today . I wanted to add something extra into the cart . Getting a 1.7 for $44 . So this , along with Narciso Rodriguez for Him , will be good. Never sampled that one for Him. I love the note of honey . I have Hiram's Slow Dive . It's very nice, but settles down rather quickly on me. _stay safe and be well_
I can not keep up with all the perfumes I need to smell. Though I am used to not being able going perfume sniffing, cause where I live there are not much shops where you can freely smell everything. Let alone, niche brands.
Unfortunately this one is a HUGE 👎NO for me. I have just tried it and what I've noticed is a medicinal syrupy chimical honey 🍯. I do know my olfactive memory is playing some bad game with me here. The honey doesn't sound natural at all for me but pharmaceutical. What did happend to me when I was younger that made my mom give some medocs with this smell/taste that I hated so much? Someone said it got the same smell as the nourrishing dust remover for wood furnitures, and I totally agree too. the anyway the middle notes reminds me of BOUDOIR by Vivienne Westwood, and I know you love this fragrance cose I blind bought it because of you and your review Mr Tom OUCH 110 and I hated it 🤣🤣... I still have the body cream in a box and I'm horrified every time I see it .

To me it smells so sensual, the Jasmin is intense and lush. It’s the newest fragrance I purchased, and I’m absolutely in love
I just ordered it too. I hope I don't regret it. I have a sample and I can't stop sniffing my hand. I hope you're enjoying yours.. 😂❤

i'm wary of honey in fragrances, good to know that it's done well here.
Hiram Green's Slow Dive is an easy one. Clover photo realistic.
I own this one and love it, too. Rouge Jasmin Antique . I want to sample that one.
Any more info on that one.
Is it skanky ? I'm looking to do a skanky perfume sampling haul.
It leans to the indolic side of the spectrum. It is quite a lovely perfume very similar to Lush Lust.
@@frenchtoast5843 Thank you
You are welcome. :)

This was a blind buy that I love! To me, Fils de Joie is dark and intriguing with a light, sweet note.
I really love the way you describe fragrances. I love the texture of this house as well. 💕
Excellent stuff, great to hear about this 1st from you. So many lutens i want but only currently have chergui & jeux de peau, I’ve got a list of around 10 more that i want 😂
Those are my two favorites too, my third is Fleurs D’Oranger for warmer weather.

I like this as well. It's good to know that there are still good new releases by non-indie brands nowadays.
I love the way you describe perfumes. 😍 This is going to the top of my sniff list, I love Serge Lutens.
Not sure why I’ve never seen your videos , but the bell is hit 👍
Welcome aboard!
This is a house that I'd really like to test out. I don't know of any place near me that carries them though.
I have been binge watching your etat libre d'orange reviews for the last week. Great reviews. One of my favorites of theirs is 500 Years. I would love to hear your thoughts on that one if you're interested. Good good good!
Oh wow haha. Thanks! I wasn't so enamoured with that one. :( I think it was a bit flat. But the brand is very hit and miss for me.

Thanks as always for the fabulous review, this is tantalizing!!

This sounds really nice, I’ll have to find a sample! Great review as always!
I'm a big fan of honey, so this one sounds great to me! It always works amazingly well on my skin. I'll probably go blind buy it as well! 😂
Honey can make you smell sweaty actually, that's why I don't like as a note it in most parfums. Anyway, grat review as always
I agree. I don’t even spray my wrists. I spray my inner elbow.
The drydown I get Dana tabu without the mouldy under stairs cupboard
I love honey, got a few samples from this house. There's a few on my list. Hope you're doing well Tom.
Thanks!! Hope you're doing well too!
Great review. Thanks for sharing.
You sold me in it. This will be my next purchase.

It’s been a while Aloha! 🥰♥️🌺

NOOOO Boudoir is so coool! haha.
Fils the joie is a pun. Filles (girls) de joie is a name for loose women or prostitutes 😊
New Dodo Review? :3
Soon hehe
❤️❤️❤️
Can’t wait to sniff it Tfs
Fils de Joie means rent-boy
Too feminine?
The name is a pun based on « Fille de joie » (prostitute). « Fille » can be booth « girl » or « daughter ». « Fils » means « son » 😉
