  • An MOA member who decided it was time to stop riding donated his 2008 BMW F 800 ST to the MOA Foundation to help further its cause of rider education, training and awareness. Unfortunately, the bike had been sitting for a couple of years before he reached that decision, so it needs a bit of rehab before it's ready for its next owner.
    In this video, we walk you through the process to drain and refill the coolant.
    Tools needed:
    * T30 torx driver + ratchet + extension
    * Flathead screwdriver (optional)
    * Torque wrench (for reassembly)
    * Funnel
    Supplies needed:
    * Drain pan that can hold at least 2 liters of fluid
    * 50/50 mix of BMW coolant and distilled water, approx. 1.3 liters

      @@BMWMOAorg I had some difficulty finding a nitrite free antifreeze, however I found Shell Rotella ELC NF antifreeze/coolant, which is ethylene glycol based and nitrite free - so I went with that.

    Thanks for doing this video. Very complete and informative. I was having crush washer envy as I didn’t have replacements. No leaks so far haha. Thanks again.

    Currently looking into 2013 F800GT in very good condition with no service history. To me that means all consumables are changed and I had no idea what a coolant flush on F800 would consist of.
    Thank you!

    Solid work-through with many transferable pointers to other BMW models. Schmutz! Haven't heard that in while, especially in Texas-stan! Thanks for the contribution to our MOA tribal knowledge.

    LOL...if your daughter finds out no amount of rinsing is going to keep you out of trouble...a little vaseline on the o-ring makes putting it in place a bit easier.

    Thank you! Nice step by step tutorial. What are the torque values for those two fasteners in either ft/lb's or nm's?

    • @BMWMOAorg
      @BMWMOAorg  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi - as a practice we don't include torque values because they can vary between model years and trim levels, so it's always best to look them up for your specific bike. For this work, we've been using the Haynes manual for the F 800 series, found at haynes.com/en-us/bmw/f800gs/2008-2016-0.
