    Hey Kirk... love this channel, thanks for the great work and demonstrations. I'd love to join your group, even though I don't live in Illinois. However..! You do make me chuckle a bunch....Example:
    I'm a new owner of a K1200LT. Looking forward to the experience. I will say you scared the hell out of me about my purchase. After listening to several broadcasts, I almost had buyer's remorse before I took my first ride around the block..lol
    It would have been so nice to hear you talk about what a nice machine this is....and how proud you are to own one...I would have felt more enthused about buying one. (I still am excited). But, no thanks to you. Every show made me cringe about owning this headache. Hopefully, I will stumble upon a show of yours that talks about how much you enjoy your LT, and how proud you are to own such a exclusive product.....
    Just sayin

      I certainly do love the LT! I still own and ride my 00. Nothing compares to the ride and handling of such a large machine!

    Thank you, thank you. I did the air compressor on the reservoir and it worked. Great idea. I put in engine ice and a new sensor.
    I broke the old one putting it in, but did the new one correctly with my new Poster from you with torgue specs.

    Just add this service to your winter rip down list of things to do when the sides are off.
    The best tip was using the air hose to vac the over flow..(very Fast) Nice job!

    title is ... coolant flush, but what was presented was a drain and refill. A bike with some serious miles on the clock could perhaps need a proper flush to descale the cooling system. That's what I expected when I clicked on the vid.

    Not a proper flush but still a good video on how to drain and replace. Thank you.

    Hello Kirk, I have seen video that requires vacuum to install the anti-freeze to get the air out of the heads. In the video they say the vacuum is imperative to eliminate trapped air. Is this not needed on 2008 k1200lt

    Can I ask you a question about my 1998 K1200 RS? I think mine has a recessed allen head drain bolt instead of the way you show in the video where you remove the temperature sensor. Am I correct in assuming this? So far I just removed the two lower hoses and let it drain out.

    • @kirksmotorrad
      @kirksmotorrad  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those most likely go to the oil cooler. The rad hoses are fine to remove

      @@kirksmotorrad You are correct sir. I undid that bolt and oil came out!!! The water temp sensor is near the head on my bike. These bike are a pain in the $@$&#*@ to work on.

    Kirk, where do you buy the engine coolant that you recommende? My 2nd question is can I use your torque poster that you sell on ebay for my 2004 K1200Gt which has same exact engine?

    • @kirksmotorrad
      @kirksmotorrad  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I get the engine ice from either Cycle gear, online or from a local Honda dealer that carries it. Its not hard to find. You can also use BMW coolant. Its not over the top expensive. ~28US per gallon. The LT poster covers the GT pretty good. There may be a few that need double checking.

    Is Propylene Glycol known as "Dex-Cool?"

    • @repnatl
      @repnatl ปีที่แล้ว

      No that's what antifreeze is called. Dex cool is a gm brand name. Don't use dex cool in anything not even a gm vehicle as it sludges the system.

    The BMW K1200 LT is a shit motorcycle. It is engineered with complete disregard for maintenance. You have to strip all the plastic and the gas tank just to fill the radiator?
