He installed the pulley backwards. That is why the pulley cover and engine pulley are binding together. Also you do not use any thread locker on the pulley mounting nut. Only "apply molybdenum disulfide grease to the threads of the output shaft and seating surface of the engine pulley mounting nut" (Those are words directly from the service manual). The best way to remove the pulley mounting nut without buying Kawasaki's special tool is to use an air air impact wrench. Also reinstall mounting nut with a torque wrench per service manual. 93.7 ft-lb. He should have borrowed, rent, or buy a torque wrench. Right tool for the right job. I hope this helps those following his videos. Who am I. A certified ASE Master Mechanic and after 30 plus years I still use and always will use service manuals which is also a tool for your brain.

I agree especially with the torque wrench statement. I stopped watching when I saw the method used to tighten the nut

Thanks for the tip bro, I thought it looked funny the way he reinstalled it 😅 I have a pulley on its way in shipment and wanted to make sure I was going to install it right

I thought he had installed the pulley back-to-front..... I've came back 4 times to watch this video before hitting the comments. Will be doing this upgrade on the 17/9/23

You might wanna make the needed addendum as you re-installed the pulley backwards

You need both front and rear pulleys ! You have to remove that inside part ! When you put both pulleys you can put a 200 rear tire( more clearances)! Then you will be 5 mph above what the speedometer says ! And may rpms less on the ingine ! Then get larger air cleaner and fuel management all bolt on plug and ride ! Much more fun !
My shop will not change my rear tire ( I have to bring in the bare wheel off the bike ) !!

    INCORRECTLY INSTALLED THE PULLEY

Right, you placed the pulley inside out. this means, the position is much more to the left, to the outside ...
The'wall' have to be on the left side.
But even without grinding, the space between the bigger pulley and the cover is almost nothing, so i grinded the cover for safety.

hello my friend...i noticed that, when you remove the original pulley (on the other clip),
there is a sort of border in the front side of it (the side of pulley
that you see immediately when you remove the panel) in fact you can't
see the gear scalloped. when you put the baron pulley NOW, you mount it with that higher border on the opposite side. in fact, you see now immediately the gear scalloped. did you mount it wrongly or the istruction said that? thank you for the clips :-)

One additional reason why I am very cautious when purchasing a used motorcycle for several reasons, and many of them are demonstrated right here. Sanding metal parts?? NO!! Fine steel wool and a some thin viscosity oil like ATF or Marvel Mystery. I could not even get past the sanding part.
