- Here's my personal Top 7 list of Super Modes for Optimus Prime. Hope you guys enjoy hearing my take on them.

I love power-ups. There's just something invigorating about seeing your favorite heroes turn the tides in battle by gaining a huge amount of strength in the most obsurd ways possible. Whether it be via transformation, morphs, or combinations. You can't deny that these particular elements are numbing in their inventiveness. And whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is totally up to you. Today's video is gonna be dedicated to my number 1 favorite Transformers. He's the face that recks the place. The robot who's built to last in terms of continuity. Mr. Robo Jesus himself, Optimus Prime. But this isn't just gonna be a video talking about simple statistic of the red & blue heavy hitter. This particular video will consist of my top 7 Super Modes and Combinations of Optimus Prime. This list will go indept on what each power-up has to offer for the Big Bot but each mode won't be ranked by it's power level. But in terms of combinations my rankings will be based on how well Optimus fairs with his participating host. Now these are just my personal biased rankings on which 1's I love the most, so please refrain from pulling out those pitch forks. We all have our personal faves so there's no need to spill any blood or in Transformers slang, no need to spill any energon in the comments section. With that said let's get on with the video.

Number 1: "Optimus Maximus" Transformers Combiner Wars. Now you know I had to show my G1 Optimus Prime some love and what better way to so then with the IDW Generation 1 Continuity. After Cybertron is left desolate from the Destructive nature of the Combiners, a war wages over an ancient artifact known as the Enigma of Combination. This thing caused a big divide between Autobot and Decepticon factions, which made for some deep moments. And the fact that Hasbro actually allowed IDW to bring in a darker tone really shows that they're not afraid to give a more mature product to the older fans. The only drawback this comic series has is it's strong political undertones, and you probably won't like how certain iconic Decepticons now work with Autobots to maintain peace. I still can't wrap my mind how Starscream of all people could ever become King of Cybertron. But anyways the Enigma of Combination holds has to power to create Combiners from any Cybertronian. It allows them to unify their minds, and enhance their power and mental stability. It's even capable of enhancing pre-existing Combiners who're dumb ass rocks. After a fourway battle between Menasor, Devestator, Defensor, and Superion takes place. Prowl takes it upon himself to use the Enigma and combines with Optimus, Mirage, Ironhide, and Sunstreaker. Making them 1 in the form of Optimus Maximus. This is the most powerful power-up on the list. Optimus Maximus possesses all the unique traits of each individual Autobot. He has the courage of Optimus Prime, the strategic genius of Prowl, Mirage's cloaking powers, and I guess Sunstreaker's good looks. But with that said this Combination does have issues.
Here we go. This video has been on private because I wanted to wait till I grew on you guys in the TF community. I really appreciate all the feeddback, good and bad.With that said what are your Super Modes and Combinations of Optimus Prime?

Jazz Prime I doubt it. It was originally intended to be in the movie but Bay took it out but after Megatron rips Jazz in two he eats his spark. They did feature it in the comics though.
You forgot Transformers Cybertron. You forgot that he can link up with Leobreaker and Wing Saber and when he does link up with either of them it is sweet to watch.
Armada's one of my favorite shows because it was my introduction to the franchise. I'm surprised to hear you like the animation, though... For the most part the fandom is near-unanimous on hating the show for its laziness. I readily accept it has faults across the board for reasons in and out of the creators' control, but like you, I don't believe people give enough credit to the character arcs of Starscream, Hot Shot, and others.
As far as IDW goes, I personally love the direction they took. The political undertones make for a thrilling story because it's so well-written. And I like seeing versions of classic characters that are extensions or reinventions of their classic personalities, such as Thundercracker or Prowl.
Yeah I appreciated the animation and am surprised how the fandom talks bad on it as if it's the worst they've seen. They act like the G1 series didn't have bad animation from time to time with all the color mix-ups. And I personally love the political undertones, just still bugs me that Starscream of all people would be ruler lol.
Lol true. I guess G1 is generally more forgiven because it's classic.
And ah, okay. I can understand that... It is kinda weird to see him in that position. Granted, I'm very behind on IDW so I haven't gotten to the meat and potatoes of his leadership yet.

same with me as well XD i loved this series i mean comparing it to the japan version the animation was fixed up more nicer but was still a great series and this series had what was my most favorite incarnation of star scream

Omega Prime and Beast Hunters Prime. I miss those two. Omega Prime brought back memories of being more exposed to the Transformers franchise and his coolness factor was added by the fact that two Autobot leaders merged into one body. Beast Hunters was my other favorite thanks to his large and beefy toy that was released in 2013. I remember wanting that figure for more than a year and I was lucky to have bought him for $30 instead of $60.

In Japan, after prime died, he got revived for the 2nd to last line up of G1 toys, the battle Stars, he was basically G1 Prime but drawn like a Gundam. it was spectacular.
I grew up with Armada and thoroughly enjoyed Prime, and seeing Optimus' super modes from both series on this list made me feel the nostalgia in the best possible way.
Japanese anime is always about EPIC POWER UPS all the time! Go Japanese Prime
In terms of story, Go is not in canon with the Western timeline since it's a splinter timeline that replaces Beast Hunters in Japanese continuity just-like-how-Headmasters-Powermasters-and-Victory-served-in-G1-continuity.
Optimus Prime's Japamese name is Convoy.

You're right. Transformers prime was an awesome series. And I talk a Lil 💩 about the movies but I enjoyed them all.
Then prime got ended and replaced by the shit we know as robots in disguise.

Super God Genrai is probably my all time favorite combined form of Optimus Prime (or Powermaster Prime as he is known)
I'm torn on RotF Optimus whoopin' tailgate because it's such an overreaction to Megatron handing his ass to him in the first movie. Like, it was cool seeing Optimus go ham on everyone, especially in the forest fight, that was awesome.
But at the same time, it started the trend of the movie Decepticons going down so much easier. They were so much tougher in the first movie and after that, they just became cannon fodder.
My favorite combos are Powermaster Optimus Prime (I mean, holy hell, his trailer combined with him and gave him a TON of extra power and firepower, plus the visually cool factor), RotF Jetfire/Optimus powerlinx (power to the nth degree and the visually cool factor--seriously, they couldn't have been more awesome with it if they had Optimus and a Super Valkyrie from Macross combine with him) and Armada Supermode (Op, Jetfire and Overload).
Transformers Go wouldn´t have su a bad reputation if instead of a 5 minutes shorts they would have made a full movie

I didn't like how in Armada Prime lost articulation when he combined with his trailer. I liked the one from Transformers Galaxy Force, but that's my own preference.

Give the Unicron Trilogy a break man, Hasbro did a crap translation and dub to give western fans a bastardized version of the show. Try watch the original Japanese version.
Armada yea definitely, Superlink is just as horrid as Energon really. But Cybertron is more interesting then Galaxy Force SS GF’s dialogue is boring and a lot of VA’s sound like they don’t want to be there

Don't get me wrong. I grew up with the 84-85 Transfromers. I still remember the day I saw the TV commercial for the first time. Nothing beats that Prime.

I've seen Beast Wars, Beast Machine, and the Transformers films by Michael Bay.
I'm more into Gundam and a few other mecha series; not Transformers, not Zoids...
I thought that combination in Revenge of the Fallen was cool, but it sucked that it was very very short lived in the movie.
Is Optimus going to get another combination in the new Transformers Michael Bay movie?
Yeah there are a lot of em. Not sure if we'll see any for Optimus in the new movie. But there is a leader Combiner in the Last Knight. But I dunno if he will combine with the team.

Just out of curiosity where would you place Powermaster Optimus Prime? That is my personal favorite powered up Optimus.
I think RID Optimus was technically the first animated Optimus with a super mode. While obviously Powermaster Optimus was the first Optimus with a super mode in the toyline and the comics the G1 cartoon ended with the headmasters, and while the Powermaster Optimus toy does appear in the Japanese anime, much like Ultra Magnus (who could've been a super mode Optimus at least at a toy level), it is as a seprate character, I believe that RID was the first time a cartoon shows an Optimus Prime design with a super mode officially used to represent the character Optimus Prime..
That Car Robots Ultra Magnus is not the orignal G1 Magnus that we know, I'll just say that's G1 Magnus' little brother
I Feel like you left a couple of huge ones out. 1: Sonic Wing Mode. An upgraded version of Jet Convoy in every aspect. With near perfect synergy. 2 We gotta go to beast wars for Optimal Optimus. How that isn't even a MENTION in this series i can not comprehend. The Color Scheme was outrageous, the power boost was unmatched up to and including the end of the series itself. And it was no Synergy it was Ultimate Power. It even led to personality changes for Optimus Primal he was never the same after that and adopted several aspects from The Original. Otherwise its a pretty solid list.

My first time watching one of your vids. You made several good points in this one. I am a bit partial to G1 Powermaster Optimus since that mode seems to be the OG power-up mode for Prime. And I love the updated Titans Return version. Great vid and I'll be waiting for your next one!

an enjoyable watch! I started watching armada, and tho I love op I had to stop watching at like ep 13 cause the dialogue was Killin me lol. second, beast hunters optimus from tfp is my fave! prime was such a gr8 show. I miss it a ton :(
Being honest, I feel like you made 2 mistakes here. They're not too big of a deal, but it's something I thought should be brought up:
1. Missing out Galaxy Convoy and his 2 modes: Savage Claw and Sonic Wing Mode
Galaxy Convoy alone was amazing, but his combinations are pure poetry. His first upgraded mode, Savage Claw Mode, sees Optimus combine with Ligerjack (Leobreaker) and gains a larger gauntlet arm. It can deploy a claw along with the fist and is very strong in physical combat. His other mode, Sonic Wing Mode, was unlocked when Optimus and Wing Saber flew through the asteroid barrage and needed more power urgently. This mode increased Optimus's speed and give him extra weapons, giving him a chance to battle even the toughest characters of the series.
2. There is no "strongest" super mode
Claiming something is strong is a personal interpretation, as strong could mean many things. Optimus Prime's incarnations are ranked differently and have different power levels, so it's harder to rank them based on power. If we were to level the base power of Optimus so that all the basic incarnations are as strong as each other, then Optimus Maximus isn't the strongest anymore, as Optimus Supreme is the combined form of the base Optimus and Omega Supreme, a character stronger than a base combiner, meaning Optimus Supreme (If the powers were levelled to be fair) is the strongest form.
Other than that, I love this video. My personal favourite super mode, like the list suggests, is Optimus Maximus, but for different reasons.
the only real downside to the optimus upgrade in prime is that he never gets or is able to use the star saber. which results in megatron not breaking out the darkstar saber again until the finale

Optimus Prime with Leader one....that must have been a challenging Go Bot upgrade
No love for Galaxy Force Prime?
It was different than the "pants and shirt" option Cybertron had for everyone(but Optimus) and Prime had in Armada. It was also an update to his God Ginrai form from Master Force. With his combining (again) with his trailer, though he has more firepower. Though he really doesn't gain any armor save for a faceplate and only has a modest height gain thanks to platform shoes. He can have either a cyber wolf or cyber cat for an arm(though so can Mega/Galvatron). Prime also combines (again) with Wingsaber, this time actually gaining sword(s) and a bit of chest armor. Though he could fly in his usual Super Mode.
Given that Optimus Prime is famous for combining with individual transformers (I'm pretty sure he has more individual combinations than any other transformer) I'm surprised it took him this long to have a full gestalt between a bunch of them at once. You'd think someone at some point in the unicron trilogy would have thought "what if he could combine with his trailer, jetfire, overload, wind saber, and leobreaker at the same time?" at some point.
Lol that would have been overkill. He's already more powerful than Vector Sigma in his Leobreaker mode alone
Sometimes you just need to punch Trypticon in the face. (Even if I don't think he's ever been in the unicron trilogy)

God I love Optimus power ups. I would've gone with his cybertron wingsaber combo xD. And it's great to see Optimus Supreme get some love! As for Optimus Maximus it sounds like you don't read much of the IDW comics. You owe it to yourself to do so because Combiner Wars is actually somewhat of a low point. The politics doesn't work for everyone but when you get into it, it's really engaging. And you just gotta read More Than Meets The Eye. *Shia voice* Just do it!
Thanks. I read Combiner Wars a while back it was a moderately decent series. I wasn't too fond of seeing Starscream as the new ruler of Cybertron and Prowl was somewhat of a douche but it grew on me.
RandomBlackGamer man you gotta check out the earlier TF Spotlights (Vol. 1 has Shockwave and Ultra Magnus and Nightbeat). It got me hooked.
Pretty convinced you know your stuff, so nice sneak of the Cyberverse Optimus Maximus mech drone in!
For the Transformers Go combination, technically the combined form is 10 bots, with the leaders of the Samurai and Shinobi teams containing their respective teams within.
And lastly, go easy on Energon man. No disagreement on what made it junky (and glad to see another guy who appreciates Omega Convoy), but hey, it was a time before G1 was revisited. It was one of the things (along with other stuff like Alternators) that probably convinced Hasbro that re-doing G1 would work.

lol yeah there 3 robots for each TF Go team with Optimus adding on as the 7th total. And yeah Omega Convoy is super dope just wish the animation and story were a little more serious for RID 2001
Transformers armada is my favourite show but the game was absolutely excellent I wish they remake for Xbox one and PlayStation 4 and the jetfire optimus from revenge of the fallen was epic I wish they made a better version of revenge of the fallen for Xbox 360

My favorite Optimus Super mode is TF Cybertron, just how excessive it is, and how it’s so powerful. I’d love to see that Optimus go against a gundam.
I think this is one of the First if not one of the many jet upgrades for Optimus prime.

Revenge of the fallen is like my 3rd favorite, maybe second. But it has the best Optimus fight scene vs The Fallen.
Definitely 1 of the best fights in the entire movie series.

Optimus Prime has had many Combiations over the years. I’ve seen him In Armada with his Jet Magna Combination when he unites with Jetfire & Overload.
In Energon: Prime Force Drones Fire-1, Copter-2, Digger-3 & Submarine-4. Then with Wingsaber formed 2 Modes, & with Omega Supreme.
In Cybertron: With Leobreaker they form Savage Claw Mode. Wingsaber (Again) they form Sonic Wing Mode. Back in the Unicron Trilogy Optimus Prime was at the Top of his Game always growing more powerful to fight for Peace. His Cybertron Version seems like the Most Powerful version of himself yet. Able to use 4 Cyber Key’s 4 Modes Super Mode, Savage Claw Mode, Sonic Wing Mode, & when he uses Metroplex’s Axe. Separated efficient in battle but united the whole is greater than just one of its parts.
Transformers Cybertron Optimus had two really badass combinations,though. Savage Claw Mode with Leobreaker and Sonic Wing Mode with Wingsaber

Till All Gamers Are One (Interesting Video on all the Optimus Prime Super Modes from various Series (Old School Optimus Prime G1-Rodimus Prime-Optimus Primal during its 3 Year Run all the Modes he used Transformers Beast Wars-Transformers Beast Machines).
Now don't get me wrong,,, Kicker was in fact,,, annoying as F****! but he wasn't useless. He was actually one of the most useful human they ever hang out with...
I really think kicker Jones from Transformers Energon Would be a perfect power rangers general, because the first general in Power Rangers is usually defeated in the first couple of episodes in recent seasons.
