    Hey, Cowboy, you don't gotta carry that weight through here. Woolong troubles? Haunted pasts? Lost lovers? Ah, just kick your feet up and relax a spell. No bounties this side of the Asteroids, so there's nothing better to do than just enjoy the music for a bit. I mean it, some of these old bebop songs really _bang,_ even 130 years on...

    The ease in which pros make the art of making shit up as you go along makes this a lot harder to appreciate.
    When someone said “they’re making it up as they go” it just opened my eyes to it

      Wait for real this isn't pre-written?

    • @rckli
      @rckli ปีที่แล้ว

      @@terry2295 I had time to think about what I wrote - looked at it - then pressed enter.
      Good jazz - they’re not playing off of sheet music, they’re using their experience to determine what the next note is and adjust to the changes.
      One fantastic example is of this guy who said he accidentally played a song in the wrong key but his saxophonist just went with it
      You get it now?
      P.s. instead of being condescending, you could’ve just said “I don’t know what you mean - can you explain it?” Not many people are like me - most won’t look past rude comments and will just ignore or try to retaliate against you.
      Think of it this way - if I said “1+1=2” and you tried making fun of my math skills, I’d try to explain to you what I meant because I’d think “hey, this guy doesn’t know 1 and 1 make 2”
      If you knew 1 and 1 make 2, then the question would be: why do you want to portray yourself so poorly? Why so intent on harassing someone else?
      Remember: when you try to diminish others, you dig a hole for yourself.

    The purpose of bebop was to expand the creative possibilities of jazz beyond the popular, dance-oriented swing music-style with a new "musician's music" that was not danceable and demanded close listening. Since bebop was not intended for dancing, it would enable the musicians to play at faster tempos.

    • @illadrobici
      @illadrobici 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's too bad - I mean, that the black music of this era got so exploited. But it got terribly exploited and ripped off in those days, mostly due to the racist music reviews, like-minded music "teachers", and club owners and producers. Feel sorry for ALL the musicians back then for the culture pitted one against the other. I'm sure this still exists in the business to some extent, but I'm old now, so I dont keep up. Lol. Final thought is- one day the struggles and negatives involved will be nothing but a thing of the past, and perhaps that's when the music from this period will be listened to, taught, and honored on the same level as what are called classical styles of music. Who knows? Though it has gained its due respect in some academic circles, it's still a pretty much unknown commodity for a vast swath of the population. Christ, they know more about this music in Norway then we do here.

      @rafanifischer3152 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@IriAntler Scatting means exactly that. The voice becomes the instrument and improvises a scat. Bebop is not actually sung but some solos are scatted. Ella Fitzgerald is a good example. By the way I love to hear scatting but not every jazz singer is adept at scatting. Scatting is not confined to bebop and you can hear some singers scat to a slow blues.

      I'm usually a metal listener but thanks to Cowboy Bebop I found an appreciation for this style of music as well.

    Would the song "I wanna be like you" from the jungle book be considered bebop jazz?
    I am new to this genre but I'd say maybe?

      well--there isn't a tune tht i know of called Chetstones ! But what they had in common was that Charlie surprised people by choosong to play with them. I think tht that was for their incipient lyricism ~ ~ ~~ ?

    Bebop was a Black music. It was a music by Black musicians who wanted to get away from any kind of hint of minstrelsy.
    There was no smiling, laughing, grinning, or dancing. It wasn’t entertaining. The cats who pioneered bebop like Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Bud Powell, Thelonious Monk, Kenny Clarke and Max Roach wanted to be artists just like Stravinsky.

    Christmas music, holidays music, music while cooking... The description by the channel is stupid. If you call this vintage music, why posting it in 2015? But its cool if people who dont know anything about jazz came here.

      No idea what you mean .... all of our repertoire was originally recorded in the 1920s, 30s, 40s, 50s. Nothing we remaster would be past 1963 due to copyright laws. Pre 1920 is generally referred to as 'antique' and previous ; 'retro' is something that's outdated and went out of style ; our music is definitely 'vintage' ie from a previous era. Glad you've come here to listen - try some more albums, Bebop is a tricky one to start with.

    Thank you for sharing music that has good and noble purposes, like to uplift and inspire people. I also enjoy music that simply wants to comfort and soothe people. However, I will never be a fan of or condone music that promotes violence against women. I will never be a fan of music that degrades women. From a moral perspective, I will never be a fan of music with lyrics in favor of the lowest and worst lifestyles. Popular music influences young minds, and encouraging children to seek vice instead of virtue is irresponsible. I will continue to attack such poison and object to its cultural acceptance. I do not care who produces it or what names it hides under; to me, it is worse than garbage. Trying to protect this trash as some advanced or stylistic innovation is like getting children to take poison to broaden their knowledge of cuisine. Love music enough to defend it from the fakes.
