I’m a project manager for a non profit organization and literally have no idea what I’m doing. I’ve been winging it since day one and no one seems to have noticed LOL.
Saaaame. Except I’m pretty sure I’m both a Program Manager and Project Manager. 😅 [#Non-profit life 🥲] …But it took me months to even figure out that there’s a name for what I do because my title is specific to the organization (and tells you nothing!) Two and a half years in and I’m still waiting for someone to realize I have no idea what I’m doing. 🙃
@@JayDeeNoble yup I’ve come to the conclusion that I basically just do everything and learn as I go 😂 any time my boss asks me if I know how to do something I just say “sure” and it works out lol
I don't know how YT algorithm find me, but I am glad it did! Subscribed straight away after watching one of your old video. I feel an instantly connection, I love the aesthetics of your video and your view on things in general, I guess being a Chinese (born and raised) and living in Australia, I can see myself having very similar life experience and world view. I am also working hard on my yt channel, which is a creative channel outside of my professional work and family life. So it is encouraging to see you find some youtube success. Keep it up girl!
Great to hear your happy with the new job. Amazon or Microsoft are companies where I could see myself working for if I went to China. Current plan is "just" working my job and go on a sabbatical to travel china for 6 months, but not rly the same as working/living there for a prolonged time.
Hi I just joined the crew, I love your vlogs, I'm a software developer and yes, I totally feel you, IT professional life can be very stressful! Work-life balance is crucial... I cannot wait to see how things will evolve for all of us
can you please make a video on how to become program manager? i am trying for pm role what and all need for pm role what kind of certifications do we need to do . that will help i am confused alot .thanks in advance
Great to see that you’re doing good! I remember your videos like 1-2 years ago when you were „trapped“ in Beijing😂 feels like you settled in really good. Do you still have any plans to leave ? I also work as a program manager at a tech company so I immediately felt that 😐 Moment when you mentioned checking overnight emails in the morning 😂
I felt really trapped back then and really didn't want to be in China. Wouldn't have believed it if I told my self back then that I may one day find happiness here. I don't know about forever, but rn I feel like there's so much more for me in Beijing and I don't wan't to leave any time soon. And ugh...the morning emails 😞
Very insightful! I was going to ask about comp package comparisons between the U.S. and China. If you are getting paid what PM's get paid in the U.S. there, I would personally never leave China 😄 All the Best to you! Hopefully your lock down won't be too long.
hey, i really like the over-sharing part of this video! I have a side hussle as 团长 as well as a copywriter for mainstream 大团长, and i love my side hussle way more than my cooperate job.LOL
I'm inspired by your video and started to make my own as well! Please make sure to get enough food because the lockdown will be long...(Advice from SH) Hope to know more about you because I also want to start some business yet have no clue right now... Take care!
hahahahaha I was waiting to see who would point out the problem with my Thai tea first😂 Yes I made it with a french press - I don't know how to make it properly, but french press is the easiest way I've found to get yummy tea into a lazy person
One advice as a former founder and VC investor in Beijing, is just to spend more time getting to know the business and the market you want to be in. Really know it from the backend supply chain and licenses to the sales side of things, and try to expand your network not just in the expat circle. China's market is unique and from my experience startups with the most success in China are ones that are well connected and spent years doing 'prep-work'.
Great video, I am about to start a youtube channel, and I am also starting a new job on the journey like you. I was in Taiwan for a year, and it did suit me.
its 2022, as industries ande organisations move into mordern and agile operating models im surprise that people still carry role titles with 'manager' - so 1990s
Just between you and me - I'm still scared of my manager, and the relationship with my boss has always been the most difficult to navigate - I still don't know how it works. There definitely needs to be a change in modern day organizational structures, I hope it comes soon.
Being locked down relly sucks, especially for freedom-worshipping souls. I've just left Shanghai after an outrageously prolonged lockdown. Anyway, my tip is to stay positive (i mean mentally, not physically xD), and never lose hope. best wishes~
hi i love your videos i love china it's the best country in the world i want to go thare on day i'm from india and can you do Q&A please and i saw you in amy's video becouse of her i found your channel and i love it you make amazing videos and can you do more videos with blondiinchina-amy ..
Ditto. Saw you on Amy’s page and now binging on your videos. Awesome stuff. You’re really giving me a lot of motivation and clarity on videos I want to make. ❤️ and seeing your side of the story when everyone was looking into China has been amazing. Xx 💋 You’re gonna do big things one day
Good manager at amazon? Geez. I hope Amazon PIP culture is better in China. They’re one of the most outrageous among FAANG. Even worst than TikTok. And it is connected to work life unfortunately. I’ve PIPed some great SWE because I was given no choice by directors. Maybe it’s better in PM side. Anyway, good luck and can’t wait to order more cookies when logistics/shipping returns to normalcy.
I don't know what PIP is like on my team, but if I have to sacrifice WLB in order to not get in PIP I'm not sure if that would be a job I want😢 Just trying my best to manage until they fire me haha! Thank you - I can't wait to start making cookies again soon!
I love that you talk about your work! As a university student in the business field, it's very interesting and helpful :)
So happy to hear! I remember my days going to all the business school career fairs haha...all the best!

Does Amazon China can sponsor visa for foreigners wanting to come in mainland to work?
